Hi. I really like your videos. Like you I am RL pilot. During a DCS mission I had the left engine shot out. Normally I would just apply and hold rudder to keep the ball in the centre. But this time I had a long way to go so I chose to use rudder trim. In the real world you turn the trim wheel or turn a knob TOWARDS to the live engine to counteract the asymmetric yaw. But on my hog it wanted it turned the opposite way. Is this a military thing or has DCS got it wrong? Its no big deal as I know what to do now, but its counter-intuitive. I just wonder if it is set wrong in controls options. Any thoughts appreciated.

If you haven't already worked this out, it's because the current DCS shows a DLZ bar at the left of the HUD instead. Confused me too, since I was looking at the wrong part of the HUD for my pickle cue.

@@peterfagan3587 oh thanks for the tip. I will check this soon. Maybe because my hud on the screen is kind of cropped from the 4 sides i can't see everything, so i did not notice that bar earlier. Will give it a try Thanks!

I think this is a really good video. However, I would add that the Auto functions as a collective group...that is, if used together...are great for making sure your time on target is on time; that is, not too soon, and not to late. for those that dont know, all of this is about time and distance; especially if you are fling blind...night or storms. Its important to know hoe fare you are going at specific speeds, and than you can adjust to make sure you are where you need to be...when you need to be there. These auto functions have a lost of side benefits, but i would argue...this is what they are intended for... Your thoughts... Train Wreck

so i've set up a little training mission for myself. very new to the aircraft i got maybe 40hours into the game at that point.. in the flaming cliffs f15 incan lock enemies up to about 50nm but sometimes i cant even lock a mig21 at 10nm while in TWS mode.. os there something im missing? i am also fed information from an awacs.. yet sometimes i am forced to go fox2 and even guns because they're on me before i can lock em up..

Your way provides a way to grasp this in one take more or less. I hope you continue doing this on DCS related stuff. Thanks so much for these superquality tutorials! It's interesting how things have changed. In the mid-1980s. In the Navy and maybe the other branches, we had Link 11 datalink (apparently it's still in use for some things). We had NTDS - Naval Tactical Data System (including a console in each ready room that nobody knew how to use), and the symbology back then looked the same as HUFA but was a bit simpler and had somewhat different meanings - "soft" shapes like a U, an inverted U or a circle were friendly contacts, "sharp" shapes like a V, an inverted V or a diamond were hostile contacts, and "in-betwen" shapes like a staple pointing up, a staple pointing down or a square were unknowns. If the symbol was the "top half" it was an air contact, if it was the "bottom half" it was a submarine contact, and if it was "both halves" it was a surface contact. So for example, a circle would be a friendly surface contact, an inverted V would be a hostile air contact, and a staple pointing up would be an unknown submarine contact. Each contact's vector line would lengthen or shorten based on the general speed of the contact - a short line was slower and a long line was faster. (I don't know if a short line on an air contact was the same speed as a long line on a surface ship, or if a long line on an air contact was fast [maybe 500 knots] and a long line for a surface contact was fast for that contact type [maybe 50 knots].) Does anyone know if that's still the case or do the vector lines stay the same length? I did a quick search online that didn't turn up anything.
