Compairing 5 sets of Jazz cymbals
Переглядів 40 тис.3 роки тому
Here you can see and hear me plaing 5 different sets of Jazz cymbals. Each one consists of 2 Ride cymbals and a pair of hihats and has been put together with a certain "theme" in mind. First therealways is a recording of the cymbals seperately, and then I´m playing them along to a part of the song "The Al Trane", written by John Riley and taken from his book "the art of Bop drumming". The recor...

Hey I know this video is 8 years old but I'd really appreciate any info you can provide on cymbal #1, such as the weight. Sounds absolutely perfect.
Great idea ,great playing and great cymbals . Too bad I can't hear them very well because of the music volume
Awesome
I could listen to that first cymbal for hours.
Amazing discipline and focus to get that together. Thanks for sharing.
The A was lovely
I have never cared for his style. I’m not into heavy hitters; I like players with dynamics, such as Joe Morello, Sonny Payne, Buddy Rich, Louie Bellson.
1.) K Con Renaissance 2.) New Stamp K Istanbul 3.) A Hollow Block Stamp
smoooooooooooooooooooooth <3
Happy to own a 22 K Dark Medium. Such versatile pie for any genre (Not saying the others sound bad of course). Thanks for sharing this test ride (pun totally intended).
what sticks do you use?
your timing is all over the place bro
Unico e straordinario
My top 3 of this video: 1.) K Con Renaissance 2.) Hi Bell Dry Ride 3.) New Stamp K Istanbul
My favourit set was the old Ks and the new Ks
Ed Blackwellish
This a study in dedication and desire. Its just flowing out of your playing..Your brain memory as well as your muscle memory are phenomenal and obviously completely "burned-in" . This is one of the most impressive videos I've seen in years. Hat's off to the work you put in to be where you are now in your playing. You earned it!! Cheers. --Joe P.S. was this all one-take? one rudiment right after the other following the click? If so it makes it even more impressive, if that's possible. Let us know if you don't mind. If it wasn't one-take,, then your editing skills are right up there with your drumming chops. Do you teach via the web?
Hi Joe. Thank you very much for your kind words! I guess I just was bored😅 In all honesty: it was just just an idea that kind of developed itself and grew over time. And yes, it's all been recorded in one take - which was the purpose of Mr. Dawsons original idea which I took and run with... Keep practising and you'll be able to do it too !
Would you recommend the K Dark medium as a good bebop ride? I like all of them but I’m favoring that one in particular, in this instance especially, scenarios can change so I’m wondering if it’ll fit all the scenarios
The first group sounded the best, at least for those songs.
Great video, lovely playing too, thanks for that
Great work thanks
Wow that's great thanks heaps, it looks like fun ☺️😊
Great playing!
ISTANBUL AGOP Cymbals ?
Istanbul Cymbals ???
Very well executed and good technique
WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!
What a tremendous job !!!!👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 What a perfect presentation !!!!👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻 Ouah, that’s really great 👍🏻👍🏻 Thxs for sharing !🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
I could hear the music, but not the cymbals. I really like these cymbals. Could you do another one with better mixing?
Very nice playing
Thx for expressing 'articulation'. Don.t ever given up you.re great as a univdrummer
At 65 ,and still learning. Need to practice this. I'm a rusty. Thanks for the lessons
I really liked the: 22 K Con Med. Thin Low Ride and 22 K Con Hi Bell Dry Ride Beauties.
My Goodness!!!!
he laid down some excellent recordings
Brilliant way to demonstrate the sticking and application on the kit.
Which snare is this?
The left foot…
Uhh I,ve always preferred A,s for even Jazz. The K types are very washy but A,s are shimmer.
Ready to 200% for to be 100% on stage...
Complimenti a quel super deficiente , che ha messo proprio davanti quel caxxo di leggio .Un genio. E più mingmong, colui che non ha trovato un altro p.o.v.🤨🤣🤣🤣
Damn music stand
S U P E R B ! Fast becoming part of a seemingly distant past, like an exquisite island fading into the horizon as we get pushed farther and farther out into the vast sea of cookie cutter clones . . .
Amazing start with the one hand This guy was way ahead of his time wow! I was about to type "A smokin' performance' and someone blew a cloud of that shit right across the stage and everyone was too cool to clap from what I could see lol!
No earplugs and dude blowing cigarette smoke on Tony, good ole days
Enjoyed the playing and the presentation. Great drummer w/ great time and chops. And these cymbal sets all sound good and provide a tonal palette from wet to dry. What everyone tunes in for is the vintage, unobtanium stuff. The third set - old k's with johan hats. Most of the rest of the stuff is in a store somewhere. But everybody's chasing THAT tone. You have two KILLER vintage cymbals but they are totally different. The 18 OS is darkly bright and crisp without a lot of wash, and the 22 NS with the rivets is holy grail jazz ride sound with good medium bright attack and just a hint of trash followed by the rivet wash reverb. They are both amazing, but I'm not sure the 18 complements the 22 like it would some other rides in your collection. Don't get me wrong, the 18 might be the best, most valuable cymbal in your collection. It probably is. Your Zildjian 20 hollow block stamp from set 4 and your 18 OS from set 3 would be interesting to swap between sets and compare. Some amazing cymbals throughout. Congrats mate
G.O.A.T
What ride is this? It sounds beautiful!
I think I'm on the right track after hearing this
Previously unseen STILL unseen stupid camera man taking a shot of the music stand !!!!
