From my point of view. I think Cassandra turned evil MAINLY because of Zhan Tiri. She manipulated her, lied her and sabotaged the friendship between Cassandra and Rapunzel. Also she showed her this memory and she probably said her that she needs to steal the moonstone. But now that I think about it. Zhan Tiri is the reason why bith Cassandra and Varian turned evil. I mean Zhan Tiri showed Cass this memory and sabotaged everything. But the blizzard from queen for one day was caused because of Zhan Tiri and Rapunzel couldn't help Varian because of the blizzard. So that means both of them turned evil because of Zhan Tiri.

Im just gonna state this now, but i actually do understand Cassandra to a degree. Now im not saying her actions in betraying Rapunzel and the gang are valid, but the girl has been through some shit. Denied and replaced by her own birth mother at a very young age, becoming a foster child, denied in trying to be something more (Captain of the guard no doubt) by her overprotective adoptive father, getting shown up at an obstacle course by Rapunzel that she has trained her ass of for, basically being outshined and or bested by quite a few people, literally her lamet 'Waiting in the Wings' is basically all of that combined into the song. Yeah i wish they had way more time to explore more about her and her emotional turmoil and even her relationship with her adoptive father and explained what her passion was, but she is still quite relatable and real, again, doesn't justify her betrayal and actions though. Oh and don't even get me started on the whole shit with Eugene instead becoming the Captain of the Guard instead, i know she was pissed about that, I'd be too, idk I didn't like Eugene at all in this series, bro already was a long lost prince of the dark kingdom so he was already royalty and was already gonna be future King of Corona and enjoying the luxurious life, now they make him Captain of the Guard?! That's some bulls#@! right there.

You know, to spice things up and actually give Cass a good reason, they could've had mother Gothel visiting Cass instead of completely abandoning her and keep talking about Rapunzel without mentioning her name and keep comparing her to Rapunzel, making Cass sour about this mystery girl and then find out about Gothel being the one who kidnaped Rapunzel right before she took the moonstone to give her many, MANY reasons and examples to stay a villain this long. Also, Gothel could've completely abandoned Cass when she started asking questions, making Cass feel even more resentful.

I understand the point, but I think it's the more realistic ending. When she saw that Gilbert wanted to stay on the island, she was only going to leave him alone even if she didn't feel completely satisfied with it. But when she saw that Gilbert regretted it, she didn't hesitate to return to him. Considering Violet's life story and the four years she lived with Gilbert, I think it is normal that she is emotionally dependent on him to such a point that she is able to leave everything and everyone behind just to be with him. I'm not saying this ending is better; I'm just saying it's the most realistic.

i was a bit taken aback when i realized that gilbert was alive. I was hoping the series would take another approach such as, learning to move on, forgiving, ect. and it woulda made a more moving ending. i just feel the ending that we got was an afterthought and in my opinion was a bad decision. dont get me wrong i sobbed at the ending and i still think this movie is really good i just hoped they would keep gilbert dead. ngl it seemed like the people who made the movie only watched a few episodes of the series 😭 it felt like everything we learned from the series was thrown away for 'fan services' . im soo glad someone agrees with me.

I really wish the show would tell us more about the Moonstone and give little peaks about Varian’s dad with the Dark kingdom. Or even better, why does Varian have that abnormal Blue streak on his hair? There must be some more explanation about that. Maybe, in another world, it could’ve built up to Varian and the Seven Kingdoms if Disney actually cared about their fans. There were too many filler episodes that could’ve been filled with plot relevance. Also, the Eugene being the Dark King’s son felt pretty out of place in my opinion. It’s too much of a coincidence for the supposedly “Dark Prince” to be with the “Sun Princess?” I don’t know. Then again, there were so many plot holes and missed opportunities. Also, it’s Disney, so I don’t have much expectations. I still love the show though, and it’ll always have a special place in my heart.

Cass deserved more justice I feel that she has motivation less than varian no doubt but still she was a great villain but they didn't do as much as they could have with her.

I actually did like Sly 4 as an overall game, but I agree the story was VERY flawed, and I did NOT like what they did to Penelope AT ALL.

Honestly, the movie didn't really change much in terms of opinion of the entire Violet Evergarden franchise, since i watched the series as per the canon layout prior to the movie itself. It's still a great series, and I kinda don't fully care about the whole Father-Daughter turned impractical huge age gap romantic relationship. It's strange, that's for sure, but what can I or we exactly do about it? What's directed by the author is what's done. I can only assume it kinda got away mainly due to the rough historical time period in which the series takes place, the equivalent of WW1/Interwar of our world, in which large age gaps were pretty common amongst households, and those "dolls" were probably a loose translation of typical maidens in foreign countries. With that being said, I still find this movie to be a masterpiece in evoking emotions, especially with the death of that elder brother. Onto a still-related-tangent shared with a few people here, this entire franchise definitely opened me up on an emotional, even spiritual level. It gave me a renewed understanding of all levels of familial love on top of the romantic lovey-dovey type we see everywhere. To be grateful, to not approve of war, to finally understand what true love is. I now hope to experience it myself, and I also hope to experience being with God at the end of everything. Earnest thanks to those who worked on this series and building Violet's character. Eternal salutes to those who tragically passed away in the 2019 Arson attack. Long live!

Are we not aloud to just let a villain be evil? Like fuck the backstory, Cassandra does the ACTION of being a villain so much better, while Varian has the better backstory, i found him as a villain to be mediocre. He’s adorable, but likable villains are just antagonists, not villains. Cassandra is a *Villain* Varian is a *Antagonist* While both of them are amazing characters, there is a major difference between being an Antagonist and Villain. And it’s supposed to be that way. Villains aren’t supposed to be as likable or logical as Antagonists. Villains don’t have to be good in the end, but Antagonists are always supposed to be redeemed. The setup’s are completely different to show which characters have which roles. A story will NEVER have two Antagonists or Villains. Only one of each.

as a roselia fan, i have to agree with your opinion that they're overrated 😂 they're still good, it's just that some of their fans can be a little bit too 'passionate' to the point it gets annoying, i can't stand those people lmao and true, opera of the wasteland is roselia's worst song and ringing bloom is 10 times better than fire bird. my hot take would be fire bird is really overrated 🤫

It kinda pisses me off how everyone just puts varians songs at the top- like yes, Varian is amazing. And yes, so are his songs, they're the best, but I usually find people completely ignoring other songs, or other characters, simply because they like Varian more. I know someone who gets annoyed when another character that they dont like as much is on screen- like, yes, have your favorites! But give everyone else a chance too. Don't hate on every other character or song simply because the character you like isn't in it (not saying that's what you're doing, I just disagreed with most of the stuff you said in this lol, especially about Eugene's very underrated song when he was in the dark kingdom)

I kinda of understand that they could have written more, but she felt betrayed by rapunzel 2 times in the tree, and with adira, she (in casses mind) her mother chose rapunzel over her, and in other episodes rapunzel outshines cass (without indending too) and cassandra also probably had the conscious of her mother kidnappings someone else and not caring for anything or anyone else but beauty, and cassandra has mommy issues and somewhat daddy issues, and others don't already like her because she's "negative" or "to fact" so I can understand why she backstabbed everyone and wanted to prove she's more then what others assume or say

Personally, my favorite character was Kinako. She was genuinely likable and interesting, and I honestly wish that the story was instead just her story, where she (a cat) is living happily with her owner, but she’s growing old, she’s near the end of her rope. So, she makes a deal (or even just finds) a mask that allows her to become human, to instead become her owner’s daughter. However, said owner then worries about where her beloved cat went, so Kinako decides to go back to being a regular cat. I literally just described what happens in the actual movie, but honestly, it was my favorite part, alongside the Cat Bar. I wish the movie focused on either of those as opposed to Muge, who’s basically the Chloe Price of movies (read: unintentionally unsympathetic due to being selfish jerks to everyone around them, and exhibiting troubling to disturbing behavior, of which they’re never called out on and instead just rewarded for their awful behavior almost all the time, while treating people who genuinely want to help them like complete garbage). TL;DR Kinako best cat. We Stan Kinako in this household.

For all those outraged by this movie, are just showing how ignorant you are. It never implied that their relationship was a romantic one, your sick minds just went there because you all have those pedophilia thoughts. It was obvious closure for violet, if you think she had moved on, she didn't, she just threw herself into her work, even her boss noticed that. Plus it was also closure for Gilbert, because he still had guilt for thinking he just used violet as a weapon, when he was the only one to treat her like a person.

yea i'm pretty much in the same agreement on this video. like, sure, gilbert is alive in the novels but there's just little differences about him that don't piss me the hell off compared to movie gilbert. unfortunately, they both think of violet romantically, though novel gilbert also acknowledges that it's messed up to think of her that way and never wanted to abuse his position over her on it when they were still in the army together if that matters. like, i don't know. maybe my opinion on movie gilbert wouldn't be too bad but when i look over at how novel gilbert does things, it's frustrating to see what could've been different. now, big novel spoilers here since the stories differ from each other but in the novel, gilbert was actually still in the army in a secret division as its colonel in exchange for violet's freedom (because violet was considered a 'tool' to the army, they wanted to keep using her so gilbert was the next best thing as a leader/tactician). another difference was that he ACTUALLY TOLD PEOPLE HE'S ALIVE.... so his whole family and hodgins knew he was still around and his mom didn't have to freaking die thinking gilbert died in the war. so i can't help but think movie gilbert is a bit too cowardly for my liking... another thing was that instead of dietfried, gilbert was the one who ran over to rescue violet from the train hijacking so the reunion didn't feel as much of an asspull. (also they already spent a few years apart in the novel during the train hijacking so violet had more time to grow apart from him) gilbert's confession to violet in the movie is actually very similar to the one in the novel..... but the main difference in the novel is that he emphasized that he's not her master anymore, he didn't want to take anything from her, and he just wanted to be part of her life. he didn't care if violet ever actually reciprocated or not, he just wanted to be understood. he wanted her to be happy and live her own life. so it's probably why i'm able to stomach their relationship even if i was never completely sold on them because of that because he's 100% going on violet's pace (and also violet is weirdly aged down a bit in the anime. it didn't particular affect the story very much since the gage gap is still very much there but that's exactly why i'm confused as to why the anime aged her down) i just felt like movie gilbert was still ordering her around in comparison?? at the very least, novel gilbert and novel violet still worked their respective jobs afterwards and met up on their offdays to have tea... and novel gilbert didn't freaking call for her to come back and consequently make her jump off a boat and swim in the ocean to reach him even though she has PROSTHETIC METAL ARMS, COME ON DUDE I KNOW /YOU/ CAN'T SWIM BECAUSE YOU ONLY HAVE 1 ARM BUT THE SALT WATER MUST'VE BEEN A BITCH TO CLEAN OUT SHE DIDN'T BRING HER SUITCASE EITHER SO HER TOOLS WAS BACK ON THE SHIP............. like... my guy, you can't feel guilty about basically taking advantage of violet and ordering her around while she was growing up and then turn around to order her around to stay with you the moment you wanna talk to her again......... 😭 i still think they're better off in a familial relationship overall but the movie did a worse job out of the 2 trying to convince me otherwise imo.

Varian is such a good character, but I wish we saw more of him in general. I Also definitely wish we saw more of his recovery from trauma, and ANY of him in jail. Like just an episode with him in prison for a few minutes could’ve worked. Varian is a young child, his arc shows both his childish behavior and his mature behavior. Despite Varian being extremely intelligent, he is still a child and isn’t as emotionally intelligent as an adult. Also Rapunzel turning him down is stupid. She didn’t have to send an w as my or anything, anyone that could just talk to Varian could have stopped Varian from his grief turning to rage. Literally anyone who could help him deal with his grief it could have stopped the whole arc. Even if Rapunzel just visited, it took her like 3 episodes to even interact with Varian, and that wasn’t even direct. If Rapunzel just talked to Varian sooner, or sent someone to help Varian, not even save his father, just help him with his emotions it could help. Varian and Cass arc timings are vastly different. Varian is villainized after not even doing anything, just asking for help, but Cass takes forever for people to be like “Shit she’s evil.” Also btw Varian is so much more of a villain that Cass. Cass: Attempted regicide Treason Thievery Blackmail Ransom Kidnapping Varien: Attempted regicide X3 Treason Thievery Random Multiple charges for carrying explosive devices Kidnapping Battery Assault Etc.
