I'm a car guy that in my lifetime have owned over 140 cars ranging from Chevy, Pontiac Oldsmobile, Mercury and Ford even Mazda and Mercedes-Benz. I have been in several industries including the RV industry and most recently the telco industry. I have always liked specifically Mercedes-Benz mainly from the 70's and the 80's and currently on my 16th Benz. While I'm not the most knowledgeable person, I am having a little fun with this You Tube thing. Maybe I will actually complete a car project on this channel before I get bored with it or go broke doing it.

What about the electric cars?
@@glasslinger Not much on the electric vehicles yet due to the lack of dealers in the last 3 years from the top EV makers. Will probably see info from GM and Ford over the next 12 to 18 months as their's begin to cycle through dealerships.
I will guess, Mercedes s550, bmw (any series), Porsche macan.
I'd include all the Fiat Corp cars, all European and English cars. Not the real big buxs autos. They are in a league of their own.
Samochód Mercedes, jest bardzo piękny
The 63-68 Studebaker Avanti is a HIGHLY sought after collector car because of the low production numbers. All the rest of these cars especially the Ford Falcons/Mercury Cyclone, the AMC Rebels and the 67-68 Pontiac Tempest are getting rebuilt in droves to be classic daily drivers. Will they be worth big money? No, but you can buy them for 3k all day put 8-10 k into them in a couple weeks and sale them for 18-20k, IF I can make 9k on a car in 2 weeks that's a HUGE win. The problem with "Big money cars" is that it normally takes you too long to build to the level that you get the "big money" out of it, 9k in 2 weeks or 50k in 18 months? do the math on that..........
Niiiiiice! 💯
some of these would make great sleeper muscle cars with modern drivetrain, suspension, etc. you would be buying the style, not performance. but ya, not a good investment.
That depends on your thinking, people see "Classic cars" and visions of "big money cars" gloss over their eyes..... while the "small money cars" are actually a better investment, why? because A. They are cheaper and B. they are generally better taken care of and don't require as much to get them going. I can buy a 63 Falcon for under 3k all day long put another 8k into and sell it 2 weeks later for 20k, where as that 69 Boss Mustang is 12k for a roller that's been beat to shit because it was bought new by some 19 year old who ran it from stop light to stop light, sure when it's done it's worth 75k when it's done but how much money and how time are you going to put into it to get it to that "Big Money" level? your liable to put 40-50k and 18 months worth of work to get it to that 75k level. It's all about the money and time turn around. 9k in 2 weeks or 25-35 in a year in a half? which one is the better investment?
A suggestion. You should add picture and text somewhere on the screen while you talk about it, i had to stop the video and google the cars, its hard to follow.

new cars are junk any way , America needs to quit this stuff so they start designing better , we are all ready getting price gouged , the consumer and our banking system cant afford these things anyway, Europeans arent under cutting American Union labor , Mexico built autos are weakening the American middle class , and i know 20 years ago there were store that rebuild your starter or alternator , now your lucky if can find a set of brushes
The dealership is gonna reopen their plants in the US to avoid the tariffs. Explain to me how thats a bad thing
@@jakeschmidt4320 That's not a bad thing but GM, Ford and others can't switch gears that fast and tool up plants for production that fast. The damage will already be done and the price increases will already be in place and no CEO of any auto manufacturer is going to take a cut in pay just to keep prices reasonable or low for the consumer as we the consumer keep buying them.
@jeffscars2713 life is all about choices and they made theirs by selling out. It's past time they had their feet to the flame.
Why are they made in mexico jeff? They're made in mexico and they cost how much jeff? You're gonna learn a lot in the next few years....open your eyes and turn off the mainstream
Trump is a master negotiator, he hasn't implemented a tariff, he's created credible fear that he WILL implement a tariff. That fear alone is already changing corporate behavior.
yup
No one care about your opinion.
Out must be working already. Mexico is going to coordinate once again with immigration and Justin Trudeau flew his ass to Mar'-A-Lago in a hurry this past week. Just the threat of those tarriffs is working. Nobody said those tariffs are guaranteed. But the average Democrat view doesn't get it. They are alp about scare tactics, fear and emotion.
Good, Tariff the 💩 out of all Foreign goods into our country. The CEO's/Directors/Leadership of all those BIG manufacturers can take cuts to their 15-40 million salaries to offset the added production cost !!!!!! America first🇺🇸
Cars are a relic of a bygone era, peoples personal finances simply don't budget for such an item, not with initial outlay, insurance, maintenance, the numbers simply don't pencil out further Amerika is a bifurcated HAVE versus HAVE NOTS situation, totally polarized money wise!
The US consumer already cannot afford a new car. The auto industry screwed themselves during the pandemic. Who cares about GM? We bailed them out using tax dollars and they paid us back with worthless stock shares which we sold for a net loss. Then to give us the middle finger again they closed their plants here in the US and moved them to Mexico for the cheap labor. It would just be horrible if they had to close their plants in Mexico and move them back here again.
Get a Mercedes battery there is a difference
You know about the secret menu? How to get it up on your dash-display; engine off- key to position 2- press call button and then ok button within half a second on steering wheel- hold both down for several seconds.... Then vehicle data pops up on display. Click ok so that you enter vehicle data. Now you can see whether current is going into your battery, or out from the battery. Now it probably says e.e. minus 5 amps... Start the engine and check that it changes to positive amps, it's charging...
@@wikeroy Didn't know about the secret menu, Thanks!
I had the same problem on my year 2010, C200 Mercedes. The new tensioner had 4 holes instead of 2, so it fills up with oil much quicker. I did the job myself after looking at a youtube video. After all, its just a matter of unscrewing a "bolt", and screw in the new one. Piece of cake. Anyone can do it. The thing is, its just an O-ring in there, and it wears out after a few years. In my case it lasted for 200 000 km. If you drive with it in that condition too long, the "plastic" guides its pushing on, can get broken by the timing chain hammering it.. On my car that means lifting out the engine for repairs..... It would have been a disaster.
Sometimes you have to take your car to a specialist to diagnosis it. You're just throwing parts at a problem that you have no idea for which it could be. It's cheaper to pay the diagnosis fee than throw the parts cannon at it. That engine sounds terrible when you started it. I wouldn't try to keep running it like that. You're going to destroy something.
@@klwthe3rd the problem is the best place is 52 miles away that I would trust that is.
@@jeffscars2713 Well take it there then. That is the worst sounding M103 engine i've ever heard in my life. It's banging and popping and will surely do damage if you keep running it to try to diagnosis it as a DIY. I've seen those cars sit for 10 years and not sound like that when started. Holy God.
It's Mark Anderson here I think that G tells you the paint manufacturer doesn't it. I think that they had two paint companies that they used.
That would sound right or single stage vs 2 stage?
@@jeffscars2713That would make sense. 2 stage being a paint coat and a clear coat ?
@@jeffscars2713if the single stage two stage involves clear coat on the two stage I have been told by a couple people they did a paint only up to 1976 ? 1986? And the color coat clear coat after that..I'm guessing the color matching the plate is going to appeal more to hard core Mercedes collectors. I'm guessing the most popular color is going to have the widest appeal to non Mercedes collectors. I'm betting red is more popular on an sl because it's a sporty car with a sporty color.
@@jeffscars2713 I may be totally wrong on this but I think that when I was looking at color explanations a number with a G behind it told you that it was 50G 50 bring white and G being white from supplier Glassurit the glass company and 50B was white from a paint company like ?Bayer?

Recently purchased a 1991 300SE with the M103 inline 6, same as yours. Mine had that "fan scrape" noise that yours has. What happened with mine is with the bracket that holds the fan and fan clutch assemblies to the front of the engine. There is not much clearance between the other accessories driven by the serpentine belt (water pump, power steering, alternator and a/c) and the fan. I wound up replacing that bracket, the serpentine belt, the fan and fan clutch to solve that problem ( that bracket weakens over time and bends toward the top, putting the fan into the pullies of those accessories and the crankshaft. If not fixed, the bracket breaks, and all hell breaks loose). It also sounds like one cylinder is not firing at all. Does it use much oil? May be an easy fix if oil consumption is low and no smoke out of the tailpipe (basic tuneup). About $500 in parts altogether and an afternoon of wrenching for both issues ;-)
@@taz300mix have done a complete tune up, plugs wires, cap rotor, replaced injectors, fuel pump, filter, relay, overload protection relay, cold start injector. As far the fan and clutch etc I was actually looking at ordering those parts and swap them out including that bracket.
