Hi, my name is Sarah! I was diagnosed with multiple autoimmune diseases in my 20s but kept speeding onward, determined that nothing would change about my lifestyle. After fifteen years of perfectionism, I hit a wall and realized I needed to make serious changes in how I treated myself. I began correcting my mindset around productivity, particularly as it pertains to house-care tasks. That work transformed my life and became the Adaptive Cleaning system. I now advocate for those of us with chronic physical and mental health conditions via video and written content, as well as digital products.
An hour of folding/hanging laundry | Body doubling (no music or talking)
If you have a mountain of laundry like I do, let's fold and hang up the laundry together. Body doubling is a way to have company while you do something you don't want to do, but that needs to get done. So, hopefully, I can support you by being your "double." This video is quiet, with no music or talking (except a brief intro!)

Manage your time & health, improve relationships, handle meals & more | Neurodivergent Planning

Planning and organizing require certain tools when you're neurodivergent. I didn't have any tools for most of my life, so I always thought I was a slob, lazy, lacking in discipline. I thought if I tried harder, I could get myself together. But it sucked because I was already trying so hard. I hope the strategies I share today will help or inspire you in your journey to filling your own toolkit....
Easier Oven Cleaning
Переглядів 78021 день тому
Does anyone NOT dread oven cleaning? I can’t handle products like Easy Off because they give me insane headaches. However, I have gathered some shortcuts that make cleaning the oven easier, like using dishwashing tabs to soak your racks. And if you have a steamer, wow, that thing cuts grease fast.

Cozy cleaning & organizing my office space, but make it realistic
Переглядів 267Місяць тому
I wanted to make a cozy video of cleaning and organizing my office, but I also wanted to show all the realistic interruptions that happen when tackling a project. To me, being interrupted repeatedly tempts me to totally give up trying to be productive. So, I'm hoping this realistic glimpse into cleaning my office is an encouragement to you, as you deal with your own interruptions!

Tears, working on my health, & Wicked
Переглядів 1,3 тис.Місяць тому
This day started and ended with tears. Does anyone else get so emotional about community-based efforts to support each other? This deeply gets me every time. Then, I ended the day with my three older kids watching Wicked. Where I cried. How's your day been going?
This is the festive family time I wanted 🎄

This was such a fun day! We got our beautiful tree and decorated her with the dozens of handmade and special ornaments we’ve been collecting for years. Two ornaments date to the wayyy back in 1979 (when I was born!) How was your day?
I tried to have fun family time, but things took a turn 😅

You can try your best, but things often fall apart. Especially when trying to corral a bunch of kiddos...This day started out great, but then the kids went wild. Then I fell apart. I seriously wanted to quit filming and not share because it didn't turn out how I wanted. BUT, this is real life!
Ditching the anxiety this holiday season | Vlogmas Dec 1

I didn't have a sprig of holiday spirit last year. I felt exhausted and empty, striving to check off an ever-increasing to-do list, pushing myself past healthy boundaries, and spending more money than I should have. I'm making some changes because I will NOT be anxious and exhausted this holiday season. * I make content specifically for people who live with mental and physical health considerat...

Came here to say. Look into a parasite cleansing for your autoimmune.
As a short person, if they would just make a top loader that I didn't have to have a stepstool and go upside down to get all the clothes out I would go back to a top load.
Have you used washing machine cleaner powder packets or tablets? I have ran a few large load + tub clean and hot water cycles with my washing machine with Affresh cleaner tablets thinking it would do the job, but when I pull back the part of the gasket closest to the drum, I still see that grime on the rim of the drum that you showed at 3:25 😮💨😩
Exactly! Been saying that nonstop to all the fam! Have to stop every 5-10 mins to atop a fight between any of the 4 kids, get a snack, look for something THEY obviously can't seem to find, etc. I actually resorted to wearing my earbuds when doing ANYTHING to see if they would stop bothering me...nope. They don't care. 🙄 So I just point to them and say, "Cant hear ya, and unless its an emergency...I ain't taking them off!" 😂😂😂. Most times...I DON'T even have them on, hahaha! Shhh! 🤫🤫🤫
Yes to body doubling videos. Will use this in the future. Thanks
Of course!
Love this ❤ also yay! A System of a down fan!! 🥰🥰
Thank you! SOAD goes so hard!
In the same boat- gotta guard my energy and NOT push. It’s a hard habit to break, but very beneficial to break. 😘👍
So agree! Learning where the line is between working to be productive but not pushing myself is hard. But I'm getting better!
What is the name of that clock?
This is the one I got on Amazon: amzn.to/40nDhTX
Love this. Those reasons are right on point for my life! Thank you! I often forget why I haven’t done things, and hearing that list helped remind me. 😘
I have the habit of doing the same- I look at all the things NOT done instead of seeing all the things that HAVE been done and that have occurred to stop my flow. I'm working on it though!
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I don't know how many times I have watched this. I am very grateful for these videos as I feel like I have a budy who is cleaning with me but can't distract me! XD Also thank you for not including music and just having the cleaning sounds. <3 Hope you have a lovely day.
Thank you so much for sharing this! It makes me so happy to hear!
I shop for groceries twice a week and have a pre-shopping routine that includes tossing terminal food *before* it dies. After so many years of procrastinating and dealing with nasty plastic containers, I'm glad I rarely face them now! Note: I think other tactics have helped too. 1. Switching to wide-mouth glass jars 2. Labeling jars with permanent marker on masking tape 3. Bringing oldest leftovers to the front 4. Keeping grape tomatoes & grapes in open containers so they're easily snackable 5. Prepping leftovers into lunchtime salads for my spouse 6. Making new dinners only 3 times a week 7. Buying fewer ingredients and smaller containers than I used to do 8. Abandoning the ideals of trying lots of new foods and having lots of variety/options at once 9. There are probably more....
Thank you for the ideas! I love to hear that you've made such progress! My oldest and I were just talking about having fewer, simpler ingredients so our food storage isn't so cluttered. I think that will help me to see food that would otherwise get shoved to the back.

I love this. I’m a neurodivergent parent of young most likely also neurodivergent children and our house is chaos!!! Perfectionism and all-or-nothing thinking have been huge issues for me along with the unhelpful belief that my housekeeping skills deficiency is a moral failing. I struggle with greatly varying energy levels and frequent mental/emotional burnout, so an inflexible routine cleaning schedule is not something I can stick with- I can’t just make a schedule and do it. I love the convenience piles idea. We may start with convenience trashcans, cause we seem unable to even take things to the trashcan 🤣. Thank you thank you! I really needed the reminder that housekeeping is just logistics.
I just did a video about how I keep a bowl on my kitchen island to put little bits of trash, even though the trashcan is like 5 feet away. Whatever little shortcuts help you are what you should employ! It's not laziness to see patterns and find solutions for them, it's efficiency! And I hear you on the inflexible cleaning routine. I failed so many "systems" because I just couldn't keep the same level of productivity happening!
Dawn power wash works the best for me
I love this

Does anyone know how to fix my dogs deep scratches on my black faux leather sofa bed (no armrests)! Like would a black leather recoloring balm or recoloring dye be best as a long-term solution? I really needed your knowledgeable insights to find a permanent fix for my cold basement! 👏🏽😩🙏🏽
Where is it located?
Beaverton, Oregon!
Thanks.good video tutorial.i was also looking if you could remove the external drum and clean it
Thank you very much! I desperately need to finish some end of year paperwork and this is making it tolerable.
I'm so glad! It always helps me to visually see someone else slogging through a task like I am!
Thank you for this! I needed a reminder 😊
Of course!
Id want to buy your house if you sell it 😂😂 well cared for!
Aww thank you! We're renting but I wish we owned this house- it's so pretty here!
But how do you clean it so well 😂😂 is that a steamer??
Yup, it's a Wagner steamer I bought at Home Depot! This is the one I have: amzn.to/49YJWXZ
As I sit here, trying to convince myself to eat something - anything - for breakfast, this video could not have hit me at a better time. Thank you for sharing your struggles and your coping strategies! I appreciate everything you post, but this one in particular is a gold mine. I'll be rewatching it and taking notes 😁
I'm so glad! It's very tough to deal with food sometimes, which sucks because you HAVE to eat! But I love when we can share what works and talk openly about it!
Where you get that planner?
Right here! www.sarahmcglory.com/online-store/ADHD-Adaptive-Living-Digital-Planner-Cleaning-p709335911
Don't have a tablet or I phone. Guess I'll have to make my own
I definitely share as much as possible so people who can't or don't want to use my systems can adapt them to their lives. But I'm also about to release a printable planner!
Will you make a physical planner?
I'm about to release a printable version of this one, but I'm not ready at this point to ship orders myself:)
Low capacity meals…. Brain imploding is in progress. ADHD and chronic stuff means that a lot of things others have as average capacity are either that or high and I won’t know until that day. The way that you describe your cooking method for a low capacity recipe sounds awesome!!
@@bookhuggah I know!! I started the concept of different capacity tasks with cleaning, and I’ve slowly started using the strategy for all the major aspects of my life that I struggle to be consistent with. It’s made me more productive. But I’m also honoring what my body/mind needs and that’s priceless to me, because I used to be soooo hard on myself.
@ awesome. We baked some burgers and some chips for dinner tonight, and I used the stash of spices in the house to season the burgers, so yummy! Thank you! No need to stand by the stove and cook them on top anymore. My legs give out on me when I do that sometimes. This is simpler. Thank you again!
@@bookhuggah of course!
Your ADHD profile is different from mine on certain aspects but damn that planner is good ! And having tabs with labels is just mind blowing, I never understood how people could plan and have to turn pages to find the right one... my brain doesn't turn pages, pages I cannot access straight away do not exist ! 🤪😁 and I never actually put into words that it's simply the permanence of objects that's at play and mine is really bad ! Too bad it's a digital planner, my brain only functions with analog systems.
@@Sypeth Me too! I love the idea of having 1,005 pages to organize every aspect of my life, but a planner isn’t functional if you don’t use it regularly, and I will not use pages I can’t see. I actually go through phases when I can only use digital and when I can only use paper planners. I’m releasing a printable version of the planner on Monday :)
What a beautiful sentiment. Love your look, too!! 🌸🎄🥰🥳🙏♥️
Thank you so much!
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Yes amen love this ❤
I appreciate it!
hi! thank you for this - it resonated so much 💕
@@for.theplannergrls I’m so glad!
Oh bummer... Not for Android or Widows....
@@JavaZombie You just need a PDF annotation app to use the planner and every device can download such an app. I use GoodNotes, which works for Apple and Android, but also apps like Adobe acrobat, Noteshelf, Xodo, etc., are good options. Just look for an app that can duplicate pages and rearrange them. Happy to answer any questions if you have them!
Wow I don’t know why and how this showed up in my feed but it’s all so motivating and I think this would be a great thing for my brain to use from a work aspect. Ty
@@annamiller2427 I’m so glad! I hope you love the planner if you choose to get it, or if you don’t, that you can easily translate the concepts to your life!

As a professional that's one of the hardest boots to replace. When I see that one, I literally groan. That one has that rigid plastic piece that distributes the water around the spray nozzles and it has to be perfectly aligned, not every machine is like that. One thing I do on that model specifically, is I get maytag inner ring. They are way easier to install.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
What kind of tablet or iPad are you using?
It's an iPad and I use the GoodNotes app for all of my digital files.
Thank you ❣️ Right now, I am overwhelmed and down. Your videos give me so much hope 💕 Thank you again for being vulnerable and in that helping me.
I'm glad to share some hope but I'm so sorry you're feeling down and overwhelmed. If you're like me, where it's easy to think you have to do 1,034 things in order to get "caught up," I just encourage you to focus on one small thing at a time. My perfectionism has always led to me being stuck and unable to make progress, but just doing something small and refusing to worry about the rest enables progress to be made:) Hugs!
@SarahMcGloryHome I decided to only make lists of 3 or 5 things that need to be done. Sadly, today, the list has closer to 12 things. Half or more done will count as success❣️❣️ On some other days, I plan on count success when 1 thing gets done. I need the wins for my mental health because I just can't control my physical health issues.
Preach! My trash can is under the sink and opening the cabinet door fifty times a day really erases all my will to live. esthetics 10/10, practicability 2/10. On most days i place the trash can on the floor to just chuck in things as a go past.
Ha! I'm always thinking certain tasks are erasing my will to live, so I just got a chuckle out of this!
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I do this!!! Not lazy. I bought a little bucket thing that sits on top of a cabinet door. Team conserve energy here!
I love being on this team!
Love this positive modeling. So important
Thank you! I agree!

I never have thought to sit while cleaning the toilet! It makes so much sense!
