m90 22re Superchager Part 1
We take this used swap meet m90 supercharger and slap it onto my 22re 1st gen 4 runner. I've got a junk flux core welder and a dream I am bringing to reality. As long as the motor doesn't blow we can't make it worse!

No start old Toyota? Circuit Opening Relay failure!
Переглядів 3003 місяці тому
A common problem on old Toyotas that leaves owners stumped! Learn what the relay does, how to jump it out and how to replace it. This may also work with older Japanese fuel injected vehicles like Datsun/Nissan which had a similar fuel injection system. I went to the ER the day before to this video I was so sick. I apologize for all the umms, I was not my usual self. I did want to make this vide...

Lamp Shade Subwoofer Box and amp install
Переглядів 1985 місяців тому
Today on beat up builds I install an amp and sub woofer I had laying around. I really wanted the sub woofer to fit into the quarter panel. There was not much room once the sub was mocked into position. I found a lamp shade off a 10 dollar walmart lamp and it fit perfectly and hugged the subwoofer tight so it fit in the quarter panel. When I one day get around to re doing this to make it nicer I...

Today we install a Hidden Kill Switch. A really cheap mod that helps keep your favorite ride from being stolen! Cops are too busy with important crimes to go find your vehicle if it is stolen. Often times when it is recovered It will be crashed and totaled. Keep them from taking it with a simple kill switch. Tired of coming back to your car after being in the store or at work and the battery is dead because you left the lights on again!! I will show you how to wire up a simple headlight warning buzzer. This will work on any vehicle, the hardest part is finding a place to get your 12v key on and dash lights. A lot of times there is a 12v switched fuse in the fuse box and you can run an "add a circui...

The 4 runners Ford Focus Rear Seat Is Too High! Let's Fix It!
Переглядів 459 місяців тому
About a year ago my factory drivers seat broke and the frame was rotted bad. I looked for factory seats but they were expensive and not much better. I found a set of ford focus SVT seats and I liked that the fronts tipped forward and the rear seats folded like the Toyota seats did. Oh and they were cheap. I heavily modified the floor in the front and the seat tracks slightly to fit the new seat...

It looks like your polarity might be backwards on your welder . Try switching your positive and negative. For gas they are one way and opposite for flux core. You might already know this but it's worth a try. Years ago I use to cover up my terrible welds with JB weld. Gotta love JB weld, zioties and duct tape.
This reminds me of the projects ive been privileged to join in that my friends have had and you get my sub man
Hey just thinking about my i believe it was a 91 or 92 toyota previa van well i didnt know anything about those vans but i got under the hood (well not really the hood but in the cab ) but i remember finding out that it had a supercharger on i was in absolute shock it was a 4 banger but if u have ever been under the hood of one of those vans u will definitely know what im saying it was an absolute engineering gem i mean it was seperate from the motor anyway u should see them definitely cool and for a 4 cylinder she moved pretty good.
The previa is basically the alien spaceship of minivans.
You need to keep the longer hair w/ the beard.. Just think VGG ..
Good for you for getting of the couch . Freekn wow man
Hello !.. New subscriber here just letting you know I'm a big fan of your build philosophy.. you Sir.. Have a GIFTED MIND , looking forward to new content " you're pretty awesome dude ".
Your too kind!
Real hot rodding now days "spend a lot of money call it cheap hot rodding" 😂
I’m subscribing for the 1st gen 4Runner stuff. I’ll catch up on old videos this week while I wait for a new one.
Thanks, there will be plenty of videos on the 4 runner. I have a lot of projects in mind for it.
@@BeatUpBuilds I have an 86. I bought as a project and I daily drive it. It’s getting new tires in the next week or so and hopefully changing gears from 4:10 to 4:56 and adding a spartan locker in the rear at the same time. Depending on if my mechanic can squeeze it in. I’m sure he will though because he’s selling me the parts and it was his idea. I upload stupid little shorts with it now and then if ya want to check it out.
I've daily driven this truck since I got it in 2015, I've put close to 50k miles on it so far. I've had a full sized locker the whole time I have owned the truck. The spartan being a lunchbox locker might be a little more noisy/grumpy but really its not bad at all daily driving with one. Offroad is great with one. 4.10-4.56 is a nice change you will love it! I subscribed one more and your at 100! shorts are great, you always have enough time to watch them!
@@BeatUpBuilds I plan on keeping mine but my daughter thinks I should give it to her when she gets her license. She’s also my editor and has a video ready to go for 100 subs. LOL. We keep em silly.
If you need to see crazy fabrication, look up Ray Soto, he puts superchargers that have no business on engines that need superchargers, he is very knowledgeable and does absolutely crazy engineering to make them work
I've seen a few of his videos! Really cool stuff.
I admire you just going for it but don't sacrifice your daily! Focus on your house and finances, get a cheap beater for a daily so you can have your truck as a project. I got a 2001 Corolla when it was time to save for a house 7 years ago and it saved me so much money that I'm now putting into all my Toyota projects.
I have to sacrifice the daily for the youtube dream. As long as the block doesn't gain a window, or the piston walls don't get scored up I can rebuild it pretty quickly. Wish me luck!
I do that too! :) I even have a court of oil lol.
I’m curious if your welder settings or gas setting, but something doesn’t look right on your welds. Maybe somebody with setup knowledge will post a comment to help you out. It’s been too long for me to be able give you specific tuning tips. Great work tho. Just needs some fine tuning. Cheers.
You won't believe me but I am actually a halfway decent welder. The machine I have is the crappiest flux core possible and the spool doesn't roll so well on its spindle. My dad has a old mig welder that has worked decent in the past but moving it around the garage the wire speed knob got slammed into something so now the wire speed setting dances around while your welding. He got a new potentiometer but I haven't had a chance to attempt to install it with everything else going on.
If it were a gas issue you would see the porosity immediately in every weld. They look like flux core welds, flux core is inherently a pain in the ars to weld with, ESPECIALLY if you're welding thin material (less than 1/4 inch)
www .youtube. com/watch?v=jrLbPz3Af1I&list=PL1EB0513478FD6524&index=7 is the video Mustang man's inverted supercharger: go to 6:20 on that video.
theres a jeep on the youtube that has a m90 that's inverted. if you go to my page, Look up the playlist "v6 mustangs with nice sounds" find the lime green mustang on the 5th video down. A guy called mustangMan has the same setup, an inverted m112 supercharger where the pressurized air is piped through an intercooler and fed into where the car normally has its air intake. its a crazy setup and way easier to do then what you are doing.
I thought about doing it that way but it would only fit over the exhaust manifold. From what I have read the supercharger runs hot enough to begin with I didn't think putting it over the exhaust was going to be a great idea. I think Richard Holdener did a video comparing supercharger heat to turbo heat and the supercharger ran hotter. I also really didn't want to run a front mount intercooler, there just isn't much room. I also think putting it on that side I was fighting the distributor and brake booster being in my way. So the combination of these issues made me go the direction I went.
Is that a supercharger for a GM 3.8 ltr? I just picked up a nice 70k mile buick Lesabre that was garage kept all its life. I'd love to have a supercharger for it!. For getting rust out of a cooling system try lime away or even the works calcium & lime toilet bowl cleaner. Air pressure along with a garden hose works better when flushing a cooling system.
That's a ford thunderbird super coupe 3.8L super charger
It’s a ford super coupe m90. Pretty much the same inside but the housing is different. My radiator plugged up and I replaced it with a cheap aluminum. That video will be out soon. I’m saving the old copper I might get it recored.
Pontiac grand am gtp also had 3.8 supercharged...
Right on dude buying your own house is awesome. No more rent, can do whatever you want in your garage, tear it apart and leave it apart for how long you need.
Thanks for the support. Can’t wait to get in my new garage!
Cool build.
Find yourself a stuffed motor to use for the fab. Don't take any advice from people cos half of them don't know anything about forced induction. I just did a m90 on a v6, injectors and f/pump upgrade where very most noticeable upgrade. Stock m90 only puts out 7-12 psi so supercharger won't make that much difference, until, you upgrade fuel, this I've experienced over last 8 weeks. Disappointing performance for all the work. Until I did the fuel system. Keep it up you will get there, worth it in the end 😊
Thanks! I think with my pulley setup I can make around 11-12psi max. I am going to use the bypass valve to attempt to keep boost around 5psi until I get some kind of stand alone efi. Not sure what efi I will use. I assembled and tuned a megasquirt years ago but not sure if I should do that again or try something else.
I came to your channel after watching the 50 dollar supercharger, I was stoked to see the 22r and now I click on this. Blasphemy! Kidding, I had a 85 celica and loved that car when I was younger
The ford fit the best and was just cheap to build. I want another Celica so bad! They are hidden gems.
Looks good but it seems like it is gonna need a bigger intake for sure, otherwise, make sure to fill it with water and make sure it doesn't leak, It's amazing work and I'm excited to see how it turns out, wanted to do something similar for a long time
This is an awesome concept! Excited to see how she works out
Looks good man. Keep up the good work
Thanks! Maybe it will finally do a burnout when I'm done!
Why is the belt touching the coolant return hose?
in cold weather, serpentine belts can be a bit stiff and prone to slipping at high rpms. by making contact with the coolant return hose, the belt can reach its optimum operating temp much sooner.
@@HappyMistakes😬🫣
Good job. It's amazing what people throw away. I've got the 200 amp starter version. It had two bad press fit rectifying diodes that were broken in half. Amazon had 2 for 26.00 and it's working again. I upgraded the heat sink plate with a CPU heat-sink that I cut in half and drilled/tapped it to attach to the plate and used thermal paste between the diode and heat-sink. I also installed a 110v cooling fan scrounged from a microwave oven to blow across the fins. Now when it's charging it doesn't even feel warm.
Learning how to troubleshoot electrical stuff has been a game changer.
I knew a battery could be refurbished but had to click on this video because of the awesome thumbnail!
Thanks! So far it is my favorite thumbnail of all the videos.
Nice!! Can't beat the price either! Good video man!
Thanks, I'm not afraid to think outside of the speaker box.
Also again take a pair of lineman’s and twist 😂 sorry I’m a sparky. Lineman’s are always the answer
If you squeeze the fat part a bit with lineman’s it will come back apart too 🤝
Oh and by the way you should check those cells you can pop the top on that to make sure that they have enough fluid in there if there's not enough you may have to add some distilled water to level them
*Promosm* 💋
Mine is like what. What did u do to fix. Just replace?
I honestly haven't fixed it yet. LCE sells seals but I don't see anyone that sells bushings. I think the shaft gets worn too sometimes any nobody sells that either. I found this forum thread where they take a later model TB apart if that is any help. forum.ih8mud.com/threads/22re-throttle-body-breakdown.1231248/ maybe I need to try and figure out how to rebuild this one and make a video.
@@BeatUpBuilds I just bought a whole new throttle body. Hopefully that fixes it
@@jb.8629 Nice that should help. Mine is a ticking time bomb, going to drive it 160 miles tomorrow wish me luck!
Nice have a good safe drive. I bought mine a couple weeks ago for cheap because it wasn't running. Got it started and running. Changed a bunch of parts got it in time now doing afm injectors and throttle body. If it's still acting up I quit haha
You will get it, I have had the tps adjustment being off screw things up pretty good.@@jb.8629
Thanks for the video, it’s nickster9781 from the forum. Hoping to finish my car up soon
What cam
It is an LCE Pro Torquer Camshaft. The tps was out of adjustment which was causing it to lope like a bigger cam.
Good vid bro, gunna try this soon!
Thanks! let me know if you run into issues.
Why did you choose the 5.0 versus anything else? Cool build, thanks.
I tried small block chevy, ford and mopar. The mopar was longest and widest and I have a small block mopar powered vehicle so I decided not to go that way. SBC the oil filter rested on the rack, which maybe could be solved with a remote adapter but the sump on those is in the rear. You can get front sump but its not a cheap easy solution and even if I did I don't think I could get the motor to sit as low as id like. The small block ford fit like a glove the front sump pan was a great fit and the block itself is the narrowest and the shortest. UZ engines had been done already and finding parts and getting good deals is easy on domestic v8s. I also originally had access to any of the big 3 small blocks because we had them laying around already. Unfortunately the ford I started with originally ended up being junk, then I got a 5.0 for 300 bucks which ate its bearings after a few months then I got the gt40p motor which was a solid motor.
Great video! If you can find the radiator part number I’d be super interested! That’s the next step on my install and that one seems to be a good option for cutting the least amount of metal!

Thanks it was a fun car. I would like to get another celica and recreate the build.

Steel tie wire is much better and stronger, you can break many zip ties with your bare hand even the “heavy duty” brands
Quit wasting your time and just stick with water. Supper heated steam cooks anything. Did this in the dealership back in the 80s.
Worn out like that can cause problems
I bought this car as a rolling chassis recently and parted it out more. its pretty much dead
That's a shame had the car probably 8 years and had alot of good memories. Hoping to build another better one some day.
What trans u usin dan?? Good vid 🙌🙌
That thing revs up and down quick lighten flywheel?
Makes me wish I used the t5, but I'll have to do my rad the same way as your and was wondering if you could tell me more info about it? Check my videos for first fire up. EFI is the way to go, but if you want to get started on a budget look into speeduino.
Hey man. Awesome celica. I'm currently drifting an ra60. We are halfway through building a 302 windsor for it also, however I will be going 4 speed top loader as I don't really need 5th gear. Cool to see that its already been done.
hello friend, your project interested me and I would like to know. as you did I have a 83 celica 3 doors and I would like to do the same. tendras facebook where I can contact you
how did you recalibrate the tach?
I smell burning rubber!
I was wondering the fate of the '85 gt in my dad's yard. this kinda look like a good idea. did you need new front springs? did you back half it?
