HOW-TO Firmware Update on a Bluetti power station
I see lots of questions in the user groups about updating firmware. It is quite easy. I demonstrate here on my AC500.
UPDATE: Per Bluetti support, the app password is different. they have provided it to me and it DOES work.

Powerlifting mode is designed to allow the inverter to operate resistive loads of greater power demand than the inverter should be able to supply. It does this (if enabled) by dynamically lowering the output voltage once the inverter reaches its maximum continuous output. A reduced voltage means less current and power than at full 120v output. It constantly modulates the output to keep the inve...

    Can you recommend a solar panel cord for a distance of approximately 30 feet to connect to the AC200l? Does it have to be a certain gauge wire since the AC200l is 30 feet away from solar panel? Any advice you can give me would be greatly appreciated. New to solar and need for my of grid cabin.

      My suggestion would depend on the power and amps that you intend to connect. The 200L is capable of drawing up to 15A if your array can make that much, for which I would suggest #10/10ga MC4 extension leads.

    The NEMA L14-30 for charging is a separate circuit with it's own breaker on the main panel right? You have the option for a 120v for a single AC300 or 240v for split phase for 2 AC300. I've seen post about tripping GFCI breakers or frying the inverter. I'm looking to use the AC300's as backup to grid outage and automatically switch to battery then. No solar. Thank you.

    Hello Mr! Great video! I want to buy this solar panel ALLPOWERS 600W I have the LANPWR D5-2500 Portable Power Station Solar Generator. This Solar Generator has solar charging input: 11V-50V 9 A MAX, maximum 400W I would like to ask you: If I connect this ALLPOWERS 600W solar panel to the Solar Generator, the solar panel when it will output more than 400watts and more than 9 Amps I mean if for example the ALLPOWERS 600W solar panel outputs 500watts and 12 Amps, will the integrated solar controller of the solar generator, suffer possible damage? I would like your opinion so as not to cause damage to the built-in solar controller of the solar generator! Thanks

      Available amps are fine, the controller/power station will only take what it is capable of. The problem with this combination is the SP039 has open circuit voltage of 52.8V, which is more than the 50V max of your device and could cause damage.

    There is no "power lifting" here at all. The nominal output wattage of this station is already 1000W, which it shows. Power lifting allows it to go beyond that for resistive loads. Which is not shown here (the display should've read ~1500W if that was the case).

    • @DougKremer
      @DougKremer 25 днів тому

      This is incorrect. "power lifting" throttles the output voltage in order to limit current draw. This dynamically limits power consumption to stay within the continuous rating of the inverter. This 1500W kettle was operating at ~1000W via the reduced voltage.

    I have a AC200L that I purchased in Dec 2023 and during a recent storm series, we used the power station to power our refrigerator and freezer. When the AC200L ran down to 20%, I tried to recharge it with my Honda EU2000i inverter generator just like Mr. Kramer did in this video but my unit would not charge! I contacted Bluetti customer service, after several calls when no one would answer, they had me do a firmware update on the App but this still did not allow the power station to charge. They informed me that any generator, to successfully charge the AC200L, it had to be an inverter type producing a pure sine wave power. The Honda meets that requirement but today they came up with another story, that the Bluetti required at least 2400 watts to successfully charge. Now they are trying to jockey the “firmware” updates to accomplish charging! Another wild goose chase! Problem number one, Bluetti is advertising capabilities that either don’t exist on some units or they have removed with firmware. The AC200L owners manual v3 is seriously lacking and gives no specifications for the generator charging on page 17 para 7.4. Also Bluetti provides no user manual or information on using the settings present on the App for this unit. There are numerous settings and advance settings but no where can one find what they mean, what they do or recommended actual values. This coupled with poor customer service is a real problem! I am hopeful Mr. Kremer can reply in on his App settings that I might try. Otherwise this unit is not worth purchasing for a multi-chargeable device to provide power in an emergency situation when grid power is not available and storms preclude solar charging. Hopefully, Bluetti will find they made a firmware update that affected the generator charging capability! Time will tell but if not, I will be returning my system for refund and severe disappointment!

      I had mine set to various charge modes as you see and hear me talk about. I also had "grid self adaptation" turned on, which makes it a bit more forgiving of input power fluctuation. I think I set the grid input limit at 10 or 12A. I also had eco-throttle off on the generator, at least to start off, once charging I can usually turn it back on so the engine can idle down a bit. I am sorry you are having these troubles.

    • @garyhorne4739
      @garyhorne4739 Місяць тому

      Mr. Kremer, can you share the firmware versions your AC200L using for IoT, ARM, DSP AND BMS. Mine is currently running for IoT v9041.06, ARM v2143.04, DSP v2098.16 and BMS v1043.11. Bluetti firmware personnel are working with the firmware but to date have not found where the problem is. I still suspect that someone got into the firmware to fix some unrelated bug and messed up the capability to charge AC from an inverter sine wave gas generator. They have had us run the power station in all the modes you tested and change the amperage from 1 to 2 to 10 to 12 with grid self adaptation turned on. I am waiting for another firmware update promised this weekend. If they do not figure this out, it is going to be a serious blow to the Bluetti power stations. If the only way they can be charged is grid power and solar makes the units useless in storm weather events when there is no sun or grid power available. Appreciate any suggestions you can give. Thanks for your in depth reviews.

    • @DougKremer
      @DougKremer Місяць тому

      Gosh I'm sorry you are having this trouble with it. I wonder if it could be a problem with the Honda, do you have access to another inverter generator to try to charge with, just to see?

      @garyhorne4739 Місяць тому

      Yes sir, I have 2 Honda EU2000i inverter generators. I have tried both individually and both joined together with the Honda cable. It seems Bluetti thinks there is a problem with the newest firmware upgrade but not where the trouble actually is. I’m waiting on another firmware update from the Bluetti firmware team. We will see if they come through on it.

    • @garyhorne4739
      @garyhorne4739 Місяць тому

      Mr. Kremer, could you provide me with the firmware versions you have on your Bluetti app under “advanced setting”, the battery and any other firmware versions that I may not be aware of. I was suppose to hear from Bluetti this weekend but nothing so far. Getting very disappointed with their service and technical support! As far as our needs, the entire power station is almost worthless if you can only recharge it with solar or a vehicle when the grid is down. My wife is ready for me to send the entire system back for a refund since it does not perform as they advertised it when I purchased mine in late December 2023. Thanks for your help and my last ditch try is to see if there is a mis-match between the firmware versions of your system and mine.

    Your unit will only take a few minutes of 3600watt draw and it will cut out. If you had of left the toaster on for 1 more minute your bluetti would have tripped. The limits are in the manual. You could draw 5000w but only for half a second. Also, with that honda 2000i, set your max draw from grid in the bluetti settings to equal 1400w max to give you a buffer. I say this because if you are drawing the full 1600w from the 2000i and you were to turn on that heater for example, it would overload the 2000i and then trip your bluetti also! It needs a buffer because the bluetti is a little slow in limiting the grid draw when you up the AC load. Better to use a bigger generator or use 2 of the 2000i gens in parallel with the parallel joining cables, then you can up the grid load to the bluetti and set it to max.

    • @DougKremer
      @DougKremer Місяць тому

      Yes I agree, I was right on the verge of an overload shutdown! I was deliberately trying to see how hard I could run it, you would not do that in a storm outage situation... Yes I think I was doing that with the Honda, or at least I did on the followup video on the AC200L, charging from it at 1200-1400W. I have noticed the behavior you mention, it pulling some extra from grid for a few moments on step loads while the inverter catches up. I do have two of the Honda 2000's, but I did not have the 30A accessory cord when I made this video. I may do another soon showing charging off the parallel generators now that I have a cord to do it with.

My question is when you over power with a big panel. So when the Bluetti controller caps the amps 8 does that stop maximum watts and voltage that panel power. I am going to buy 2 Renogy 220w solar panels open circuit 23.6 short circuit current 12.1A and I going to unplug aircraft cable and charge them individually. And I can run both panels in series with my AC70. I see you have a lot of knowledge about Bluetti batteries. I only use mine for off grid and only charge them by solar panels.

    • @DougKremer

      The Solar controller will only take so many amps form the panel, if sun conditions are enough to provide it. If the panel and conditions can provide more amps than the controller will take, then yes it does limit potential production of the panel. This is something called "overpaneling" and is done quite often, the advantage of it is you get more average output, more output at the start and end of the day with larger panels, even though the peak solar noon output is the same as with smaller panels which may be exactly matched to the solar controller.

Appreciate your videos thank you for taking the time to share. I have 4x B300 batts attached, and fill them from solar nearly everyday here in southcentral New Mexico. I'd love access to how much kWh it has and is producing as shown on your phone apps. As it stands, I use kill-a-watt meters and log and reset them at the end of every month. If the IRS ever shows up I'll be able to show them my records to substantiate the 30% Investment Tax Credits I've been claiming.

    Ok,I just went back through your transfer switch installation.So you stayed with 120V only? Going the 240V installation route is where guys seem to run into trouble. Question for you:Since the AC300 has a floating neutral,and the plastic case of it cannot be grounded,is there actually a safe way to install this? It seems impossible to properly install this without using a bonding plug. It’s confusing me

    • @DougKremer
      @DougKremer 2 місяці тому

      Re: transfer switch: it is installed per the manual, and capable of 240V with the L14-30 connector I have on it. The cable I'm using from the AC300/500 TT-30 outlet splits the hot to feed both the X and Y terminals of the L14-30 with the same 120V. So yes I'm using it as 120V only, only single-pole breakers. Grounding: both the AC300 and AC500 pass ground through the unit to the output. So if it is connected to a wall outlet, the outputs are grounded. My AC300 passed neutral through just the same, I have not tested the AC500 yet. When connected to the transfer switch, both the output neutral and ground are connected to the same in my home panel, and bonded together at the panel. So the hot supplied is not floating, it is a solidly grounded and proper 120V. The only time you would see a truly floating neutral is when the AC300/500 isn't connected to grid power, and you are running devices straight off it via cords only. Portable generators would be floating neutral under the same situation.

      @@DougKremer Appreciate the reply. I did some more homework. Seems 240 is where guys run into issues, The fusion cable for the AC300 apparently had an issue on one leg. I have heard similar, and I guess there are earlier and later versions of the AC300. Mine has been flawless though. I installed the Reliance 510D, and did a video on it. I am only using it at 120V though, not split phase.

      i have been running 2 AC300s in split phase with a reliance 6 circuit transfer switch for just over 10 months now with no problems. I haven't used a 220v circuit as i am using all 6 circuits in 110v. It runs my furnace (7-800w) and pressure pump, i have a cistern system. The only issue i have with the system is getting the 1250w input from solar. One needs very specific panels to stay inside the 150v and 11a. Right now i am only able to input 750w per mppt. Saving money now to buy panels that will get me the wattage i need and still stay withing the inverters limits....but seeing this video i may just upgrade to the AC500s as they will allow me to use more of my current panels.

    • @DougKremer

      @@arnoldreiter435: Voltage is what you need to watch out for, you can have more amps available than the controller will accept, it’s very commonly done and referred to as ‘over-paneling’. The AC300 will take up to 12A per input, and AC500 up to 15A.

      Good question. The cord I plug in connects to both phases. I think I talked about it in a little more detail in the AC300 video backfeeding the house.
