I did seven years in state prison (I used to be a dumbass) and the first thing I was taught was do not let anyone disrespect you for free. That goes into the next lesson and the topic of the video, never back down from a fight even if you think you'll lose. If you let someone disrespect you and you back down then you will be a target for the entire time you're locked up. I'm 5:10 about 155-165. Played sports and lifted my whole life but I don't cut an intimidating figure, so naturally I was tried a few times. I took those lessons to heart and you know what happened? Except for one guy every other person who I called out copped dueces soon as we're in the cell away from the cameras, guards and any help they may get. Not saying I'm a badass at all, but I did have my mind made up that I was gonna unload on anyone who squared up with me. People like that wanna look tough in front of others by picking on someone they think is weak, but they don't have any heart and that makes up for a lot in a fight or confronting people. If they expect someone to just fold when they don't and the target becomes the aggressor they don't know how to react. If you're not already locked up you should try to avoid fights as much as possible because that's a great way to get locked up.

Was at a restaurant with friends. A woman and her bf were sitting at a table nearby. The woman was attractive, so I looked at her numerous times. She looked my way several times, too. When they were walking towards the door, the guy walks straight towards me, her right behind him. He then stands several inches away from me, looks at her while he is pointing at me and says to her, “Is this what you looking at?” He asks her the same question again and again. Sitting there I thought to myself, I can get my ass kicked sitting down or standing up. Which one will it be. The guy was bigger than me, and had an aggressive attitude. My friends were cowering down. Not one had my back. My decision was to stand up to him, thereafter, I look him straight in the face. Showed no fear. Tell him, “What’s your problem, man? You got problems with your woman?” He didn’t say a word. Stone face. Was not expecting that response from him. Eventually, him and his gf leave but not until after I said a few more things to him. His demeanor became apologetic. Had I remained seated, refusing to defend myself, I would have been wrecked.

I had a Danish manager say in the meeting, "small head". He wasn't looking at anyone but considering i was the only minority surrounded by other Asians, I guess he was making a remark on me. But that was a case of "plausible denial" because he didn't speak directly to me. It's an insidious form of racism, I should have probably brought it up but he did that only once, so i'm not sure if it was under the definition of bullying, or if he was just joking.

Usually uneducated people that get into physical fights. Most educated people aren't going to be throwing punches at each other. A physical fight should be the last resort. If a bully just talking trash to you and not actually hitting you then you could either fight him with words, ignore him or do what my friend did. Show humor. This one boy in my class tried to bully my friend with words but my friend put humor into it. He would talk about messing with my friend mom then my friend would humorously say knock yourself out my mom old. The bully never got the reaction he wanted from my friend, so he just gave up trying to bully him. Now if a bully put their hands on you then you have to fight them. Luckily, I never had a guy grab my butt. Back in the 2000's guys didn't touch each other butt because that would show you were gay meaning the gay person would then get bullied. If your a big muscled up person people are less likely to even try to bully you. Teachers are the real problem. Alot of kids get in trouble for defending themselves from bullies so they figure ok if i don't fight back and just tell a teacher i won't get into trouble which doesn't really help. I explained to a teacher sometimes kids are forced to fight but my teacher like no they're not they can always walk away. I'm thinking that doesn't always work.

I had to fight growing up and had no other choice, every day, i fought before, and after school, i started doing karate and judo to start i also did muay Thai jkd and bjj because of the constant bullying , i lost so many fights because of being scared i got beatens at home as well i started fighting back and still lost😂 as it was never one on one when i started doing damage the bullying stopped ,during that time i also started fighting back at home against my mothers abusive boyfriend it quickly became me not knowing anything other than fighting , i started getting in trouble and getting locked up , eventually losing everything and going in and out of prison , as i never learned to deescalate situations. present day with my 20s and thirtys mostly gone because of prison i, at the very least ,know that i can defend myself and the people i love whether or not a weapon is involved .these days, i stay away from hi risk areas and situations, and so far, so good i haven't had any fights in about 2 years or so. i still train and learn daily different self-defense techniques. im ready if anything goes down.

Ive trained at a few MMA Gyms and Ive gotten into it with all types of fighters whether it be ones who train or amateur contenders. They all saw me as the small, new, young guy. A lot of fighters are cowards for picking on people they know aren’t as skilled as them at martial arts and I always let them know that and that I didn’t care how intensely they trained. Bullies are motivated by two things. Territory or social status. When a bully stares at you he is saying I am alpha in this hood. If you are not from that area don't escalate by having a staring match. Let him know you see him and go on about your business. Always first try to avoid physical contact. Win or lose you always always leave a part of yourself behind. That's why you choose your battles. Otherwise you will end up like me. Old and beaten and scarred and everything hurts. Even the old gunshot wounds. It will come back to haunt you in your old age. Walk away from the alpha stare. Then switch to self awareness self defense. Which is range, distance, and space or zone. The alpha bully will next violate your zone. Which is in your face. I never ever let anybody violate my personal zone. That's when you strike the bully. Notice how uncomfortable you feel when someone is in your face. That's your figh or flight ramping up. Strike. Nothing fancy. All that spinning and triangles and that stuff won't work on the streets. You have to keep it simple and fundamental. Remember there's no referee on the streets. Use only gross motor movements. Now in the scuffle make sure you know your distance. Close if he has a gun. Distant if he has a knife. And finally range. Utilize your range to deliver powerful punches and still maintain distance to avoid a counter attack. Now territory is a little different. The bully thinks he can take your purchases or your jewelry or whatever. Let him have it. You should try to distract by tossing your wallet to the ground or a few bucks out of your pocket. Usually the bully will grab it and go. And you are still alive. And your family who might be with you. Just run to a safe spot. However if you are like me. I will not tell anyone. I will simply hunt the bully down. On my terms. On my turf. And take my stuff back and his too. Range. Distance. And zone. Never let another man enter your personal space without your permission. But every time you get physical just know that you will always leave a part of yourself behind. Win or lose. So carefully choose your battles.

One thing training gives you is it takes away your primal fear, anxiety, or dread, both of pain, and agressive people. You might get beat, but they're going to earn every bit of it, if you're trained. And more often, the agressor is unpleasantly surprised at the results.

@@Lambdamale. Being a push-over will get you killed; if not immediately, then slowly and painfully, which is much worse. My life started getting better after I realized that avoiding conflict would attract even worse conflict in the future.

The only times people try to bully me is when they have the leverage in their favor. I'm an MMA instructor, so I often have police officers, security guards, coaches, professors, etc. trying to mess with me, only while they're on the job of course. Then I run into them in public and they won't even give me eye contact... Nobody wants to try me on an even playing field.

If u look like u can fight ppl are less likely to wanna throw hands. Love your videos great topics. Don’t be scared be prepared 💪🏻👊🏼👊🏼🤛🏼✌🏼

I’m an Air Force brat. When my dad retired, he brought us back to his home town: Baltimore, MD. I spent a chunk of my childhood in Germany. By the time this happened, I was a fluent German speaker and had an accent that you could cut with a knife. I might as well have stepped out of a UFO on my first day of school. Fortunately, my dad taught me to box. I fought a lot, especially in middle school, probably got my ass kicked most of the time but eventually a demonstrable willingness/ability to maul someone in the process paid off: “There’s easier targets around here. That little fcker is crazy.”

Ever stop to think ,you have a great gift as a speaker and teacher. I just started judo at 69. Elders too must remember, you won't feel any better of you back down , even though you use your age as an excuse. Especially men ,until we're bedridden we must maintain our status as men.
