Thanks for the review! Now that it’s 4 years later can you give your thoughts on the long term on the tires? I just got a set of these for my wife’s Yukon.

That’s a lot of work and it seemed like it was quick but it’s always like that when you watch other projects. I wish I had springs instead of coilovers on my red cobra but I don’t want to swap them all out.

Car sounds smoother to me too..

So I have a Wanted ad in there now for a Sonic Blue vert. Just sold a car and I was hell bent on a C6 ZO6…until I drove a modified one. Heads/cam/600+whp…..very difficult to drive smooth. Didn’t feel torquey at those lower RPM’s. Just didn’t like it at all. Hence my shift towards the Cobra. Just some insight from someone who was cross-shopping both.

So, I'm fortunate enough to own both and at the same time. I chatted with the owner of the blue C6z a bit on the FB pages. I'll try to keep things breif. - I think the majority of the Corvette owners find this as a way to get into another car that holds value along with getting money on top of the deal. - I think it IS a mistake to blindly hop from one car to the other without driving or any level of ownership. They are VERY different beasts - I love and have owned many Mustangs. The ergonomics are totally inversed from each other. To own a Cobra you really need to appreciate the feel and seating positions etc. Doubly so for the Terminator as IMO the new edge has some of the worst seating positions from a height standpoint of any Mustang. - Working on Corvettes suck. I know. I've broken alot and I don't own a 2 post lift. They nearly necessitate one if you're serious in performance ownership - Corvettes are more fragile. Ring gap is not boost friendly. Aluminum blocks can have fallacies depending. The drivetrains are exceptionally more complicated and easy to break. They are also very expensive to fix when you DO break them. - An SRA swapped Cobra with a blower upgrade makes a slightly better hammer from the standpoint of potential power levels, simplicity of design and simplicity of maintenance. - A 4v or any modular is not great vs an LS from a service perspective. You have more failure points and worse packaging. The Corvette has its own packaging flaws as well, but The Cobra , coming from a pushrod SBF lifestyle is a shoehorned in complicated mess so if it breaks its a bit scarier AND more expensive to fix. There doesn't seem to be the support for these cars anymore since its aged out into the onset of the Coyote cars. The LS powered vehicles seem to have a never ending lifeline of support, tuning, new products etc. - A Cobra is arguably more fun to drive around town. They sound great. The blower makes things instant and theatrical. The car feels more hotrod in nature. I have never owned or driven a stock 03/04 and I'm not sure how well those thoughts would carry over, but a modded one is alot of smiles. The corvettes need more room to run, they are geared long and they can feel quite loose and skate around from being so light. - Cobras are very heavily reliant on boost. The 8.7:1 pistons are stupid and they feel lazier than a more purpose built 4v or an LS. Until you start getting to the extremes, the Corvettes are a faster car and I believe a much more consistent car that's remiss from goofy cobra fueling issues, intercooler pumps, belt slip and factory IRS plagues. Just going mod for mod you really need to start dropping pullies, porting or blower swapping to run the wild numbers. Most of this is due to weight. BUT a well done Eaton car can still run good. Even my c5 with just full exhaust, vararam cold air and bias plies, I was able to run 12.01 at 118 and change. Stock cam, unopened everything. With low and restricted boost, fuel and a cam it was then making over 600whp. The Cobra I guess is easier to start with being supercharged so you can upgrade as you go vs all at once and the forged engine is a huge perk. Once the Corvette has the money spent, you have to REALLY like the Cobra to make a good argument. Still, I like violence and a raw experience. Probably why I park both next to my Viper lol. I made that too long and I was trying to be brief anyhow...nobody is going to read it. TLDR buy both.

I personally like both platforms and like how different they drive and feel. I have two terminators and I have been eyeballing c5/c6 z06's and 12-13 boss 302 cars but i just cant decide on which one lol one thing i do know is that i have no intentions to trade either of my terminators for one of those lol. I had an 01 white c5 z06 and till this day i regret selling that car, interior was trash but the car drove great, completely different from a terminator.

I really like the C6 as well. I wouldn’t think many people would want to trade for a cobra but if I had one and thought it could help me get into a nice cobra then I may consider that as well.

So funny i was just looking at all these on the cobra pages! I did sell my c6 vette for my cobra however I wouldn’t give up the cobra. Someday I’ll just add a c6 and have the best of both worlds.

What fuel system or supporting mods?

It's a shame.. I prefer listening to game sounds through a headset, but unfortunately, Sony only allows its own devices. PS3 headphones are quite expensive since they haven't been made in a long time

Wow! I never saw someone do that to a tank before with the drilled out holes. You are lucky not to have any other problems caused by all that corrosion. It was a blessing that you had the new fuel hat installed or you would not have discovered the tank rust issue until later. Kudos to Cobra Dan for being thorough in going over your car and checking for unknown issues that could cause big problems later on. Be sure to have a new fuel filter installed as well. Ball joints are a common wear out item with our cars too. Mine were also done when ProDyno had the car. I don't use a thermostat in my car since I never drive it in freezing temps. and I upgraded all the hoses to an HPS silicone set that won't collapse or leak under high heat or pressure. You can't go wrong with the FTBR components for the IRS. By the time you get done you will basically have a brand new Terminator on your hands just like me! She is a real beauty and well worth the investment.

My gas tank had the same problem. By the end of this week I’m hoping to have my 2004 Cobras entire fuel system replaced including gas tank. I think it’s one of the first things new Cobra owners should look at. It could be causing a bunch of hidden issues.

Someone told me that summit racing now sells reproduction Terminator tanks. Not sure if that’s true. I’ve had people send me videos of their fuel filters and the fuel that comes out. Looks like chocolate milk. I have a black 306 in my bullitt with a Kenne bell boost a pump. I may have already told you that. My brothers yellow cobra has one too. He told me about them.

Seems like a lot of Cobras have a wish wash of parts thrown into them... or things installed improperly or unprofessionally... Really depends on who the previous owners were. Nice to know and that you have the knowledge. 🐍❤That Cobra is just gorgeous brother.

I also purchased a polished set of UPR aluminum trim and would like to coat those before installing. I think the polished aluminum and the CF is gonna really look good. Thanks! I bought a MC terminator for $45k with 30k miles last month

Those look nice. Do they have the little lip on the inside where your fingers grab when you pull the door shut? I’ve had aftermarket door cups that are totally flat and when you put your hand on the door pull to close the door, your fingers don’t have that small lip to grip on and it feels terrible.

The carbon looks amazing.. like I told you though.. it's a slippery slope.. carbon breeds more carbon.. lol.. as for the brakes.. if you are willing to go away from the stock setup the Caddy/Taurus setup is budget friendly way to get better brakes. For me, I'm keeping mine stock-ish so I decided to just powder coat some stock calipers.
