Oak Floating Shelves
I like the look of the live edge floating shelves but didn't have any boards with live edges so I laminated boards and carved a live edge.

I Built a Jig to Cut Large a Ellipse or a Circle / DIY Woodworking
Переглядів 15 тис.3 роки тому
I built a jig that can cut a large ellipse or a circle up to 32" in major axis or radius. The concept of the jig similar to other ellipse jib but with a couple of features that help it cut large diameters with stability. I find it useful for three major purposes - to cut an ellipse, to cut elliptical or circular arcs for templates and to cut a circle. #diywoodoworking #ellipsejig #circlejig Fol...

Super Cool Cedar Table Top with Charred Look // DIY Woodworking

I made a laminated table top from rough Cedar and did shou sugi ban treatment on it that has super cool charred wood look. This is my first time trying the Japanese technique of Shou Sugi Ban (or Yakisugi to be more accurate). How do you adjust the eccentricity of the ellipse?
By adjusting the travel along each axis. It has some flexibility but not infinitely adjustable.
Hi. I would like to cut an over with a major axis of about 55 by 30. Do you think this is possible with your jig. If not do you know what I need to change to this jig for this?
You can make the base and the arm larger and should be able to approximately get there. I would set the point and adjust the router arm for major and minor axis than doing the math.
Beautiful board. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks!!
Well done
Thanks!
Been a while welcome back man
Thanks!!
Hey, I just found your channel and this video. I like how you explain how you go through the steps to make the templates and then the final project. And, nice to see you are human and make mistakes as well as how to fix them. : ). I have many of the similar tools to you and have decided to copy your ideas/ layouts and make this chair. Thanks for making the effort to put this video out here in YT land!
So glad to hear this! Thanks for sharing. It really makes me happy when I hear people get into making things!
Have to admit that I’m a bit jealous for your *Bosch Reaxx*, that I would prefer over the SawStop bc a) it’s from Germany (at least the company), and b) you can ad-hoc reactivate the saw using the Reaxx cartridge system. Probably Bosch will reintroduce it in 2026 after SawStop patents running out. Fingers crossed.
I truly love that saw! It’s belt drive with active safety and the blade is not damaged when there is a trigger. I too hope Bosch brings it back. They still sell the cartridges so I’m covered!
Thank you. I have a lot of grandchildren. I'm going to be 75 this coming March and finding it easier to build for a little boy than a girl. I don't have the workshop that you have. It is really nice! So I use what I have to do my work. I like your humbleness. It is always good to see people on here like yourself. Do you know what makes old wood brand new? Paint. I find people throwing away old wood, and I pick it up and make things out of it. I am an old cowboy from south florida. But I live in oregon today. I can build cow pins-pole barns. And a lot of fans. You do a beautiful work. Thank you again.
That’s very kind of you!
will this cut a 8x10 oval frame
If you make the radius larger, it should. The principle of cutting oval is the same.
Nice
Thanks!
Qual o nome dessa máquina que faz as furas na madeira
I think you are referring to Festool Domino
That's a PLANING sled, not a jointer sled.
Thanks!
Hi how are you great video! I am trying to cut an oval with 180x90 dimensions. Do you know how to set the jig for that?
You setup the jig in the middle and move the router to the minor/major axis points and lock the adjust nuts. You’ll have to do a couple of adjustments but you’ll get it eventually!
Thanks for the video. The only time I see sniping w/my DW is w/end grain projects.
I rarely ever use end grain planing.
Sir can you send me the measurements in pdf
The sketchup file is pinned as the first comment.
How well does the wen planer do? Im happy with the tools i got from them so far
It did really well till I tried to skip plane a very thick hickory slab. The slab broke the gib nut. I have since gotten the DeWalt 13” planer, mainly for dust collection and a bit more refinement.
dewalt needs to make it impossible to switch gears, with the machine off. I cringed when you switched the lever. I hope you found out that damage can occur before you damaged yours. I damaged mine because I forgot and thought It was supposed to be off when the lever is switched between 1 and 2. design flaw, in my opinion.
I only did it once! I always run it in slow mode. I do wood working for fun in no hurry to rush things through!
Instructions actually tell you to engage it while it’s running.
Kiran, have you designed a jig yo cut an ellipse on the bandsaw?
I don’t have a jig to cut ellipse on the band saw. I use the router to make a shallow pass, cut of the excess on band saw and clean up with flush trim bit.
@@KiranBhatWoodworking thx. Looks like that’s the accepted best practice!! Appreciate the reply
Beautiful! Nice job.
Thanks!
After milling/sanding the purple heart, how did you get the color back? I know with time/sunlight it will come back, but I wonder if you accelerated the process at all somehow?
I polished with paste wax. It’ll need some elbow grease but you’ll get the color back!
Very nice work, Can’t wait to see the next!
Thank you!

very good job! thanks for share, greatings from Argentina!

Muy lindo el pequeño taller, tiene suficiente herramienta, al carpintero se le ve inseguro, inexperto, nervioso. Seguramente le falta experiencia.

really sweet simple design; gonna try my hand at this design this week. I don't have all the tools you have but I'll make do.
Thanks! I have a pinned sketchup file as the first comment if you want to see the measurements and cutlist!
Awesome design and build Kiran, am getting hooked your work. Inlay and elevated table top give a outstanding view of overall work. I give a try on some of your work. Oval top would look even great, just my view though. Thanks for sharing your work in detail and looking forward for many more.
I’m so glad you like it! Thanks!
just one note to consider sir, the sliding dove tail slots came out awesome, this time however consider using the round part of the router base instead of the flat part! with the flat part you have a chance to slightly turn the router which will mess a straight line up pretty easily.
That’s a very good point! Thanks!
Nice, I mean a jig from unistrut and a couple trolleys. I needed a large possible difference between major and minor axis.
This was really cheap to make and you can extend it quite a bit by simply using a longer board. I think it can get close to 1:2 ratio between minor and major axis. Also you can design more travel for the base that allows the most eccentricity.
@@KiranBhatWoodworking unfortunately I do not have a table saw.
Great Video.
Thank you!
Amazing
Thanks!
This was a great review, I love my saw until I needed parts looks like Sears has cut this saw-out, parts are hard to find spring tension any suggestions.
It maybe worth taking a look at Carter’s website or call them. This is saw resembles Rikon 14” saw. I would check there as well.
Please help me with my ignorance… why not make the cutting board from a single block of wood?
It was too thick(about 4”) and too heavy. I didn’t have a way to cut in the middle to make it half instead I sawed smaller pieces and glued up.
I really wanted to take woodwork in high school but could not because the sawdust affected me severely. So nice to watch this knowing you put so much work and care into a beautiful end product. 👏 nice work.
Thank you so much for the kind words! I’m allergic to dust in general that’s why I wear the P100 mask. It seem to have helped work with saw dust. I’m sorry to hear you had severe side affects from saw dust. Take care!

It started as a Covid activity and as things eased up during the summer, I was out and about. Now that it’s cold again, I’ll probably get back in the shop!
Great build! Hope to see another project soon.
Thanks! I hope to get back to building soon!
Awesome cutting board! Thanks for sharing. Will make this soon, have many wood log in my backyard👏👏👏
Glad you like it! It’s a good way to utilize the logs by exposing the end grain and they make strong cutting boards!
Great work nice shop!
