I prefer your "on the field" review. The last video was great: most of us cover events, news and work for small brands. Is really usefull to see the performance of this cameras and leses on those scenarios. :) I got the S5 the kit and the 50mm... i am between the 70-300 and the 70-200 f4... i think i can use the reach of the first one more than the f4

Yes out of focus when object moving ....only reason I regret this and not r6 II ...so ye if focus matter consider r6 II even for more money

I would have liked to hear more about the lens and whether or not you felt like you needed the f2.8 version. Some of the shots had great depth of field and looked clean while others maybe were too dark. How high of iso did you use? I shot photos at xgames in 2018, love action photography

honestly the camera has its work arounds. That being said and coming from the gh4 with speed booster with no auto focus at all. This camera is a true game changer considering I paid the same amount for it as I did the gh4 ten years ago. The 1080 internal prores probably looks better than the gh4's 4k or looks just as good. What sold me was the ability to switch from full frame sensor to crop(super35mm). Auto focus hiccups here and there but with the right settings you get some awesome auto focus pulls.

Which Lumix lens do you think provides the best AF to the S5ii?

Thanks for your thoughts and your video! Have you played with the "individual AF-Settings (Foto)" in the menu? Specially "Setting 3 and 4" could be very interesting for you in these scenarios. You can tweak them to your Liking as well.

11:09 Slower Lens and Aperture needing to go to F8 or F11 is what most of your issues here. For those situations with that lens, the face you had to crank your low light. I slow Weddings, but I always have lights. But again if you had a F2.8 cranking at 2000 or 2nd Native ISO of 4000 - Focus would have been snappy. I wouldn’t run and gun this without a dedicated F2.8 or F1.8 that way you could ride the ISO at a Minimum until you needed more in focus in frame then punch the ISO. As a Shooter of Canon, Sony & Panasonic this S5 II line is a phenomenal buy.

There is definitely something odd going on, because I've seen tests that look nothing like your test. Here's one from Bernard Bertrand "Lumix S5II vs Sony A7 IV - Autofocus tests and stabilization", where the Sony A7 IV camera AF looks a lot slower than the S5 II camera.

What mode is “single point”? Is not an actual mode on my S5II, what Framerate and resolution are you using?

Why are you in tracking mode if your switching subjects (lens to box to wall)? Tracking is typically to track a single object they stays somewhere in the frame

Is this only for the particular lens?

Need to know how they all work together/ against each other, always helpful bro bro

not as bad as homelessness in orlando, fl. hobos fight over and have shifts on panhandling certain corners. sometimes there's 2 or 3 people on an intersection. sometimes families in front of walmarts and grocery stores. i wouldnt walk out at night with my brand new camera. maybe in the nicer parts of town, maybe. theres new contemporary homes being built so theres money being put in but still, it's a mix of economic classes here.

I think you need to learn how to use the AF settings better. In other words, most of your test failures are user errors. And your tests are impractical and ridiculous. Low light looks great for a lens this slow. Agreed, FAR better than Fuji--even the new X-Hsii???

Great video.Some good info here thanks for that. Hopefully Auto Focus well be ok with sunglasses, I'm convinced, but still get the sii X. Need the new camera for my trip to Greece in July. Still trying to think, should I get kit lens? Honestly don't know what other lens for video yet.

Thanks for the video + variety of tests! The section 3:55 - 4:42 was great at showing some smooth intentional shots vs the more casual way people like to document things. The fact that both can be done without a rig or gimbal (or slow motion) allows shooting to be a much more spontaneous thing which is the main thing attracting me to the camera. Is this IBIS only, and no active (electronic) stabilisation? Or both on?

i have a fuji xh2 and wondering to get a second cam on the panasonic s5ii i use to have a G9... i wanted a full frame camera for a second camera. should i? lol i love fuji and panasonic color! autofocus was my only thing switching to fuji but since pana now has phase detect i think i should go back and get this for a secondary camera. Dangg the datsun!! im a car guy too!

I liked the night footage, but the handheld vlogging style was a bit more shaky than I thought. Good video though, I felt like I was actually watching a review instead of a advertisement. I think the one of the problems is the camera is too cold 🥶.

that 20-60 looked really nice in the garage what color profile were u shooting in? Ibis looked Really nice. Someone was saying how hte s5 mk2 had some really bad noise removal in camera. I have noticed even in the s5 the af is much much better in 1080p

You are jumping from facial focus to object tracking to area tracking, did you adjust your settings in each of these modes or did you just leave it in auto? The OG S5 autofocus performed completely different when set up properly.

horrible jittering is happening lumix s5and s5ii , but nobody taking care of it . all of the u tubers discusing about v log 4k 422 autofocus bla bla bla...

The Sony kit lens works great on the A7iv, so the kit lens on the Panny should work just as well. If Panny is similar to Fuji where AF performance is highly lens dependent, that will scare some people off for sure. Great video, new sub here!

What? UA-cam starts paying if you have 1000 subs?

Something I don’t understand about Mac OS is that I if the close button dosent actually close and it just removes it from the screen and keeps it in the background, then what’s the difference between that and the minimize button? Please if someone has lots of experience with Mac OS tell me what’s the difference.

AF was not as good as I am used to with my Canon M50. Shame as it would be great upgrade.

Video is quite misleading, this is more of a vlog than a review.
