Mediterranean Stuffed Peppers with Ground Beef #albanianfood
This is a basic recipe for Albanian stuffed peppers but keep in mind that this recipe is very customizable. You can add more seasonings (like oregano, spices etc), you can make the dish vegetarian or replace ground beef or ground lamb or ground chicken etc etc. This video is meant to be more of guideline rather than a rigid recipe. I often change things around myself like type of rice, fresh vs...
Stuffed Zucchini
These stuffed zucchini are similar to how we made then when I was growing up in Albania. We called them ‘kunguj të mbushur’. Usually the light green zucchini is not very common where I live now so I had to make my recipe and adapted it a little bit to fit the quantity of zucchinis I bought. Recipe was adapted from my blog - mediterraneanlatinloveaffair.com/baked-stuffed-zucchini-squash/ Let me ...
Mediterranean Stuffed Eggplants

These Mediterranean stuffed eggplants with a ground beef sauce are baked with the sauce and potatoes for an amazing casserole!! As the legend says, the Imam fainted or swooned as he tried this dish:). I grew up in Albania and this is the way my family made stuffed eggplants. We call them Patellxhane te mbushura or Imam Bajalldi. Other variations include frying the eggplants instead of baking th...

Mediterranean Orange Fennel Salad
This Mediterranean orange salad with fennel is such a vibrant salad that will make any table look fantastic. We love to serve this salad with roasted chicken or lamb and rice. Usually I put this salad together more by eyeballing ingredients rather than measuring them. That is why I'm not adding this recipe to the blog since there I tend to have more precise recipes. As an estimate I used these ...

thank you nice fast recipe looks packed with flavour
Thank you:)))
OMG: you are a magician!!
Hi Sonila. Looks fab. Thanks. I'll try it for sure. Dont mind the negative comments from others. I for one appreciate your video.
Not only the burnt butter but The metal spoon in a black pan showed me I don’t need to follow this recipe
No one is forcing you to try it Kimberly:)). The internet is full of recipes & creators, you are a free person! Have a great day!
very nice and refreshing side to partner with grilled meats and veggies during the summer. ripe nectarines are nice for this too!
Thank you so much!!! And true nectarines, also white peaches work great with this recipe too. I make a similar salsa around May/June when mangoes are plentiful in my area with mangoes & strawberries! There’s so many variations and they all enhance grilled meats, chicken and most meals really:)). Have a great weekend!
Oh my this looks very refreshing and delicious ❤❤❤
Wow this looks amazing can't wait to try it later xxx
Thank you;), hope you like it! It’s one of our family’s frequent dinners!
@@SonilaZarate best dinner I've ever made ,thank you so so much
🥰🥰🥰🥰
My beautiful friend! Miss you, mi Soni!
Gracias Enri! Miss you too:)). I was thinking of you yesterday when I was working on the blog. Tenemos que hablar, I’ll call you during the week:)
Love the way you cut those apples! What a crack!
Enri , miss you 😍😍!! Thank you:)). I cut almost everything that way, that’s how I learned as a child but I know it’s not very culinary like haha. So I’m hesitant to cut like that in videos:)
Yummy
Thank you:)
Une ve 3 gota sheqer me 4 gota uje per sherbetin.
Isn't that just iced coffee. A frappe is with blended ice.
Thanks for saying: Grill Temperature and amount of time per side !
Looks Very Yummy
Thank you so much:)
How long will this last?
If you seal and sterilize the bottle, unopened it’ll last couple of years. Once you open a bottle then estimates are 6 months to 1 year. I try to push to the end of the year by keeping my opened bottle (cork or lead on), in the refrigerator.
First time I made this was so spicy the second time I make it was bland l dont lnow what l did wrong.
Nice❤
Thank you /faleminderit !!
Do you greaee the iron skillet? And does it have to be iron cast?
I grease it very lightly with either olive oil or butter. For softer pitas you can brush them with butter once you remove from skillet. I love cast iron for this recipe, if you don’t have cast iron you need to use a heavy nonstick skillet. You need good heat distribution
@SonilaZarate OK, Thank you for replying so soon. I will try that.Thank you again 😇
Amazing video, Sonila. 🙏❤️🤗👏 I'll have to try it one day.😂 I miss baklawa and I'm glad I found your UA-cam Channel. 🙏❤️🤗
Thank you so so much!! I hope one day I can film this recipe again:)). I have learned so much since then that I think I can do a better job now. Recipe stays the same but I can do a better video:)). I appreciate you stopping by to say hi!
Thanks for sharing this - great to reference
Thank you, I agree:)), not every video needs to be 10 minutes long. I use it as a reference even for myself
Hi Sonila, we have new neighbors from Albania and we're making this dish tomorrow to share with them. We've made Turkish borek before but one thing we never really get 100% is the yogurt dipping sauce. Right now we use a spice mix from Germany called dill-krauter and then add some extra dill. Any recommendations for a more authentic yogurt sauce?
Do you have strained yogurt or a creamy style labneh? Add diced cucumbers, fresh dill, minced garlic, salt and olive oil to get the dip!! Albanians also make a yogurt style cold soup with same ingredients called tarator: whole milk yogurt, cucumber, garlic, salt, dill and olive oil to accompany most summer dishes. Some regions in Albania might add red wine vinegar as topping to the dip but after mixing it you can’t even tell it’s there. Final thought on the recipe, yogurt might make a difference, whole milk yogurt with no flavor is best. Greek yogurt is 2nd best but you might need to thin it a bit for the cold soup or strain it more for the dip. And finally Albanians appreciate hospitality so so much, it’s important to our culture. We love hosting and sharing our table even when we don’t have much, and when we have some we go overboard and really enjoy it sharing:)))). They’ll appreciate you going out of your way to show them hospitality!! Let me know if I can help with any tips. Enjoy your dinner:).
@@SonilaZarate Thank you!! These are great people. They made us a trilece cake and it is incredible.
Guess the ingredients
Can i use it in Alfredo sauce?
Never tried mixing the two but if you try it, maybe mix enough for one portion not the whole pot just to see how it turns out.
@@SonilaZarate okay thanks
No cilantro or mayonnaise in this sauce … this is all wrong 👎🏽
This works for me, you feel free to use your own recipe without these ingredients! Thank you!
@@SonilaZarate well as a Peruvian your making it wrong stop calling it huacatay because that’s not what your making. Call it my “white- catay” the white version of a sauce I can’t make so I’m going to ad cilantro and mayonnaise and just make something up. 👨🏽🍳 👍🏽

Grazie Arianna!
GREAT BREAD
Yesss love it! I just wish pinenuts weren't as expensive..😞 or is it just me?
They’re so expensive, especially lately:(. I occasionally find a bag of pine nuts in Costco for a lot cheaper than other places but it’s a lot. Usually I buy it in summer to use for pesto, hummus toppings etc.
Milk and orange? I feel sorry for the kid.
so easy and healthy. Question can we add simple yogurt instead of greek yogurt? greek yogurt ots hard to find here
Yes you can, no problem at all. However, you might need to add a bit more flour to thicken the dough up. (Regular yogurt is thinner than Greek yogurt).
@@SonilaZarate May God bless you
Looks really good will definetely try this
This is not liquor it is called extract 😢
We call it liker in my language which comes from liquor!! I’m not a professional chef, just sharing what I cook at home!
Thank you for your recipe. My partner is Albanian and he loves this cake as it reminds him of home. I'm trying to learn more Albanian dishes, thank you.
Thank you so much Harriet:)).
very nice. now baklava is going in my upcoming-baking roster
Thank you:). In the upcoming winter season I’ll add more baklava recipes & videos too.
You listed a video of a rug from Amazon did not have the correct rugs of the video you showed! It was a bigger and gray rug I think it says 2023 I'm looking for the ACTUAL rug in the video
Hi, when I did the video I placed it under the correct product because it was in my past orders list. Sellers sometimes will list new products under same sku when they run out of inventory. So instead of creating new listing, they just change current listing. I have no idea why but yes now video doesn’t match product. If you have Amazon app, take a screenshot of the rug in my video and do a picture search in the Amazon app, it’s not difficult (upper right hand corner in the app). Maybe another seller sells that same rug and it’s not out of stock. Good luck!
Love it😊
Thank you:)
I can’t wait to try!
Thank you, hope you like it:)

Thank you for the recipe on your website and this video it makes it very clear especially the texture of the dough as it’s very different what I am used to making I will try and make this for my 🇦🇱 family members
Thank you so much Emily, I hope your byrek comes out fantastic! It might take few tries to get really good at it, but you won’t be disappointed! It’s really a favorite dish for most Albanians and you can switch up the fillings, it will taste differently each time:).
Hello! I made this for my family they were very impressed, my husband told me it was as good as his mums 💖 thank you for this gift for me and my family
