    Thanks Miklos, nice review and a lovely model! I might just consider this as a walk around alternative to my Viltrox 27mm 1.2 Pro lens, which is phenomenal but heavy and awkward on my Sony 6400! Any chance you will be looking at the TT Artisan AF 35 1.7 anytime soon as that is now a direct competitor.

    Hi Miklós Happy New Year to you, I bought the Viltrox AF 16/1.8Z for my Z8. Very happy with it and produces sharp images. When I saw you in 2022 I had a D850 and last year changed to a Z7ii but didn't really like it so I went for the Z8. To be honest I miss the D850 camera but can't go back as I have spent far too much money on lenses etc. Good luck. John

    I just bought the 35mm, 2 days ago,, for My Z50 n Z50II,, although I have Many F n Z mount FF lenses, I am wanting small n light in weight glass for the DX Cameras (I do have the 16-50 n 50-250, which I LUV :) BUT they are a bit slow (n I like to shoot in low or just street light, for my street photos) I bought the DX Cameras for two reasons (1) small n light weight (2) If they get stolen from Me (do not want to loose My Z6III n expensive lens) :( :( I would LIKE TO FIND a light weight , inexpensive 16mm (around F1.8) DX lens?!?!?! Although I just used My Z7 n 24-200 for Lisbon, Porto, n Paris (at all times of day n night) Best to You n Yours & Thank You for Your YTchannel :) :) :)

    Hi Miklós, I agree with you, AV mode is really great when conditions of shooting can change (shade / light areas, sunny day with clouds time to time...), I usually use M mode when I shoot a model, because I have time to change my settings 🙂 And since I have a mirrorless camera, it's sooo much easier to shoot in M mode 😋 Really useful videos, gratula, I truly loved your long exposure video by night in Budapest, I shot a few pics in this style in Bp a few years ago, but I'm thinking about doing it again these next weeks😊 Oh, and your girlfriend, especially in this white dress, reminds me the actress Diane Kruger, really beautiful 👏 😊 Congrats again, I subscribed and will watch your other videos 🙂 Greetings from a French amateur photographer, living in Székesfehérvár 😊

    Great review!!! I recently got a Nikon Zf and I'm looking to aquire a second backup body, that's affordable and takes my Z mount lenses. Honestly, I’m leaning towards the Nikon Z5, but with the recent price drops the Z6ii is not much more and is appealing also. Nearly everyone I've spoken to who actually owns a Z5, LOVES it. I love my Zf, but I want something that will act as a more ergonomic and compact backup. I shoot portraits and headshots and an occasional family session. I don't need speed, and I don’t plan on doing video with this backup. I played with a Z5 in the store a bit and it felt really nimble and great to use. In use, I couldn’t really tell much difference between the Z5 and Z6ii. Both nice. Would you recommend the Z5 as a backup to my Zf? I know it’s not as technically advanced or fast but I don’t care. One look at the files the Z5 creates and I’m sold. Would you recommend the Z5 even now in 2024?

    • @miklosmayerphoto
      @miklosmayerphoto Місяць тому

      In that case, even a used Z5 is great option. From the money you save, you can invest in better lenses (always better to put money in lenses rather than bodies).

      I haven't tested dynamic range in video, sorry

    • @andersistbesser
      @andersistbesser 26 днів тому

      Z6iii is worse. It has dynamic range of a apsc camera and even a micro four thirds camera like lumix gh7 is a bit better in this regard. This is what comes with the partially stacked sensor z6iii has. It makes the camera fast but it kills dynamic range. Dynamic range in my opinion is good anyway but its not full frame level.

    I'm still a bit confused about all of the autofocus options, and maybe there is an idea for another video or two here. One question I have is if it's faster and easier to use User Profiles settings instead of custom buttons to switch focus modes? I'd love to hear the pros and cons of doing that, if it's possible to do that. For me, I mostly shoot street photography (people, sometimes 1-3 in frame, sometimes more) and then landscapes and architecture. Would it make sense to just have one User Profile for single-point autofocus, where not much is moving in the frame and where I pick the focus point and then re-compose, and then to have U2 be "I need to track a moving object" that has 3D tracking on, with human-face recognition? Also, would love to see a video about using the camera display to select a focus point. Isn't that faster in some cases? Would also like to see a discussion of when or if to use the joystick vs locking focus by pressing shutter halfway down. When do you use the joystick?

    • @miklosmayerphoto
      @miklosmayerphoto Місяць тому

      Great question! You can of course do that with User Profiles. But there are so many other things you can also assign to User Profile (WB, drive mode, file formats, metadata, exposure settings, etc)... So I think it would be a waste to assign User Profiles just to have different AF points / zones. Instead, you can set one of the customisable buttons to cycle between AF zones / points. So for example, you have full Area AF, but then you press the Fn button and it jumps to 3D. Then you press the Fn button and it jumps to single AF point. In the Menu you can select which AF area modes the Fn button would cycle between. I hope this helps!

    I really wish they would make a Z7III with the expeed 7 and the viewfinder from the Z6III. The Z8 is just too big and heavy if you need to hike long to location as a landscape photographer. Starlight is another addition that a new Z7III could benefit from.
