People genuinely add heatsinks to their Sony's underneath the screens to help them stay cool. I had no idea Lumix would not overheat. At this point I want a small frame camera with active cooling. I give zero fucks about the fan noise. I will Mic up and edit it out.

How do you compare the S5iix to the bmpcc4k in terms of image? I love the look of Blackmagic cameras, so just curious? When do you use that vs when do you reach for the S5iix?

Just keep in mind the 640 base iso is only for the vlog profile, if you do outside run and gun, and don't plan on colorgrading you can just switch to std profile and lower the iso down below 640

I don’t shoot with any of the S cameras, but having both the S5ii and S5iiX doesn't make sense. They should just have the GH and SH cameras for video, the S5ii and G9ii for hybrid, the SR for high-end photography, and a small photo orientated MFT camera intended for what the S9 is targeting.

So while the S series may work for you :) For me it has one >>MORTAL FLAW<<< and that >>MORTAL FLAW<< is that the S cameras do not allow to automatically adjust AUTOMATIC EXPOSURE when using MF or AF/S mode. They lock AE and so when you do a run and gun reportage video or photo your AE is locked to ONE VALUE as soon as you keep the shutter half pressed resulting in over and underexposed photos and footage :) However much I love everything about my S1/S1H/S5II in all practicality they are USELESS ( so have to go back to my Sony ) ... honestly I do not know how Panasonic can get away with such a glitch :) NOT A SINGLE REVIEWER HAS POINTED THIS OUT : D P.S> Leica has obviously had it's fingers in the Firmware because the Q3 has the same problems ... while OM- systems and Sony don't )

Other than 4k60p having an APS-C crop, its near perfect, its got a fan, its got all the codecs in the world, records RAW to a SSD, records forever, runs on USB-C power. Hey Jeremy. I recommend looking closely at any streaking issues and the red line of death (in slow mo). “The DP Journey” and Glenn Fricker reported these issues respectively.

Do you do freelance work in DFW? Our channel is based out of DFW and I’m running GH6s. They hold up in direct sun 110 degree Texas summer while our GoPros will be shutting off due to heat. If you do freelance work would like to keep you in mind for some of our bigger video shoots where we need help.

My gh5ii is still so good I haven't found a worthy upgrade, especially when I'm behind the camera. Talking head content is also beautiful from this camera

S5 II is the worst camera , it has disgusting moire issues, extremely bad autofocus, no inbuild DP filter. Faces without using a mist filter look like oversaturated mummys. And first of all, the rolling shutter is the worst i´ve ever seen on a mirrorless cam. so bad

stop this review sh*t. why does every untalented cinematographer do reviews of the gear they have but dont know how to use. just create videos, films, whatever.

If they released a full frame GH6 body with 50p/60p and 100p/120p with no crop like the A7siii that would be an insane camera. With the GH6 type body and the latest Lumix stabilization that would be a crazy amazing camera. If it had a 20 megapixel plus sensor that would make it the most amazing hybrid video/stills camera. One day...

I can 100% see the value of the mobile studio for many different corporates, as long as there's elevators and ramps you're good to go. Nicely done. I would love to see a cart product just like ie these rock n roller carts that has a little wider wheel base and rolls with a much sturdier look - from a higher end corporate it feels a little unprofessional / unsafe looking for items falling off or the cart tipping, and just general shake while moving it... a lot of people look like they have to really nurse these carts... Knowing how a lot of corporate clients think, something sturdier would go a long way... I know there are the Inovativ carts which have the sturdiness and modularity that we'd all love, but they are ridiculously overpriced for what they are. I think there is absolutely room for a manufacturer to come in with the same quality of materials, modularity, quality of build and quality control as Inovativ and provide a product that would sit right in between the ie rock n roller carts and the Innovativ carts. Regardless of my own hopes and dreams haha, it's a nice solution J.

You bought the S5II with the X for photography? SMH, these UA-camrs. And he said he "started the channel cos he felt like UA-cam was lacking a positive educational side and wanted to bring that back to UA-cam and teach"

I've been rocking an S5ii and S5iix for the last 8 months and have been mostly loving them. I think your gripes are things I would have loved to see as well, but I also think you have to recognize the positioning of this camera. It's NOT a full frame GH6 (that's what the S1H line is supposed to be). It's a full frame G9II. Sure it would have been nice if it had tally lights and a few more customizable buttons, but those aren't things that cameras in this class usually offer, so I could just as well criticize Apple for not putting tally lights on my iPhone. I agree that the S5ii vs. X designation is probably not needed, but they were pretty clear about what the differences were so idk I think it's fine. For the AF - have you tried the new firmware? I've found that mine do a lot better job of differentiating subjects on the latest firmware they just released.

Sold mine. Not a fan. Just didn't gel with me.

The dual native on the S5ii is BETTER than the FX30 which has massive built in noise reduction that can’t be disabled and 4000 is a much more practical level than 12800 which is plain silly.

Something I really appreciate about this video and others you’ve made is that you show the real day to day footage and work that we all create. So much of what you see on UA-cam is essentially peak experience, portfolio driven work. That stuff is beautiful and amazing and inspiring, but it’s also not the reality of how most of us pay our bills. Showing real world footage of the work you do, shot super well and looking clean and professional for your clients is definitely important for other folks to see. It shows that the realities of our business is about satisfying our customers needs. The bigger budget, cinematic, beautiful location stuff happens, but not for everyone and not all the time. Great job giving insight and showing solid real-world projects 👌
