Feed The Birds | Simple Needle Felted Robin | December Stitch Along Part 4
Feed The Birds. Make a Simple Needle Felted Robin to finish our panel. This is our December Stitch Along Part 4.
This month we are taking inspiration from Memories and Music as we stitch the final panel in our 2024 Winging It Journal. I'll be drawing on one of my favourite Christmas carols, and taking a trip down memory lane to capture the feeling of the festive season.
If you don't celebrate Christmas, don't worry - it's going to be subtle. You can still join in, and there are plenty of ways to adapt this panel to capture December in whatever way works for you. Draw on your own memories and your own meaningful music to create your own record of this time of year.
This week we are adding a little needle felted friend to our festive panel. Robins are synonymous with Christmas, and I happen to have a pair that feed in my garden. I couldn't leave him out.
If you don't have needle felting materials, you could applique your robin or make him in a different way. I wanted something textured and cosy, so wool seemed the perfect solution.

Thank you for sharing this wonderful tutorial. Clear and consise instructions. ❤
This is a wonderful example of doodling sewing. I like it very much. Several ideas i will be using - especially how you did the buttons. I had the idea that i might have several needles each with a different color thread so i don't have to re-thread too often. That seems easy for you but it's not so much for me😊
I recently discovered you and the incredible art that you create. I love your videos and learn so many things from your work, discussions, rambling and your visions. You are a delight to listen to, the instruction is so helpful as the designs so stimulating. All the videos are like being in a candy store. Where do I start? I may start at the beginning but I want to do it all. I get excited each evening to spend time learning with you. Thank you .
i enjoy hand piecing
Merry Christmas 🎅 🎄
i'm ssoooooooo excited about the new project, I can't wait !! I'm so glad I found your channel !
Oh I just LOVE these little starburst stitches!! Gorgeous!
Just found your video. I loved listening to your voice. It is so relaxing. I hope to be stitching along with you next year. I am a life long crafter age 85. Oils, watercolour, paper crafting . I taught a cross stitch group for 20 years. I now have arthritis and had to five that up, but slow stitching has saved the day and we are never to old to learn something new. Every good wish to you 😊❤️🇬🇧
Oh my goodness, your work is amazing Rebecca! I love all the panels, but there is something really special about this one. You always manage to incorporate so much into each piece, you are a fabulous teacher and presenter, a real asset to the creative family on UA-cam. 🙌🎊
Love this one ❤️
Hi from South Africa ..love your videos and have turned from a traditional embroiderer to slow stitching...loving the freedom ❤ .
Oh how sweet. Your Robin is adorable. Love the tweed added to it. You whole panel is so pretty. I need to try needle felting some day. Wishing you a very Merry Christmas 🎄❤️🎄❤️
I love this panel! Can’t wait to see it all put together.
Thank you for demoing felting. i have often wondered how it was done. I have only seen felting machines that have mulitple needles, so I translated that to be felting had to be done with a multi-needle felting tool. You make it look so easy to do. I am inspired to try doing some!!! Your drawing of the bird was so simply done. It looks perfect size in the space you made.
I feed Titmouse, Chickadee, Eastern Bluebirds, Cardinals, and Several varieties of woodpeckers. I put out sunflower seeds, suet, peanuts and dehydrated meal worms. Those are mainly what the Bluebirds eat. I also keep water out for them. I have goldfinch in the summer. Not sure where they migrate to in the winter. I wish we had your Robins here in the states. The Robins that visit here in the summer are so annoying. The males make their racket all day long and it is not pleasant to me. I guess I will have to do a felted English Robin. 😉😄 Merry Christmas.
Beautiful robin, I've never tried needle felting. We get great tits, coal tits, and a robin or 2. I just put fat balls out and peanuts. We too have neighbours' cats but our 2 dogs s keep them out of the garden.
Merry Xmas and a peaceful new year to you all
Absolutely fantastic panel Rebecca will be fashioning a Robin hopefully
Thanks
I absolutely love your December panel and the little robin is delightful. Now I want to learn needle felting! Can't wait to see the finished panel and in the meantime, I wish you and your family a peaceful Christmas.
Its very beautiful!! You are very talented!! Love your videos! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!! Love and hugs from Florida USA. ❤❤
Rebecca, your robin absolutely made December❤️ I hope that you and your family have a Happy Christmas❤️🎄❄️
Thank you for showing how you tie a knot on the back side. I didn't know how to do that.
So beautiful! You are so talented. I can't wait to see the entire wall hanging ❤️ from Alabama USA

Ah! I learned something here. I made 6.5 inch blocks from Splendid Sampler and some blocks short. I will use the washi tape trick to determine my seam allowance for when I join them to sashing or other blocks (undecided still). I didn't want to use coping strip to the block because the sizing is quite minimal and it would look odd. Thank you!!
@@LisaLisa-zl9vu so glad the video helped. ☺️
Thank you for this lovely helpful video. I am new to your channel but look forward to more videos to help me enjoy embroidery. Your instructions are very clear and inspirational. x
You are so welcome! Thanks for watching ☺️
Hi, just found you!! Really like your ideas for next year and would love to join in with both " Winging it " and "Postcard from the hedge" I have a question, which felt is best to stitch on wool or polyester?
@@BevStitcher-ok4ig @robertakahn3814 wool or wool blend felt is best. Acrylic felt is terrible. Kunin Ecofi is a good synthetic felt for embroidery - it behaves like wool felt.
bonito proyecto
Gracias! Saludos!

I vote yes! for ivy. It looks fantastic! And after all, there is the song “The Holly and the Ivy”…
So glad you agree. Holly gets too much glory at his time of year. Let's celebrate the underdog.
