    Screws should definitely be used when at the top of a staircase, it’s not recommended to use pressure fit gates in this scenario.

    My 2 year niece opens it easily by sliding the yellow lock to one side - should the locking mechanism require it to be lifted as well as pulled open upon unlock?

      Yes, should have to lift it as well as yellow lock. There is a small grey plastic lug sticking out the bottom of the gate that should pop into the hole along the bottom rung.

    I mounted 3 gates of that type. 1 of them falls back and is locked without further action. 2 of them fall back but then further action is necessary. I have to push the yellow button back manually. What is the correct mounting in your opinion??

    • @rhino16v39
      @rhino16v39 Рік тому

      The one that falls back and closes without extra action. The other two may have the gap a little too tight. Loosen the fittings a little at the top to open it up a touch.

      My stairs have a second "corner" right at the bottom, it's quite a wide gap, could probably fit if you had the extension piece (comes included in the one linked in the vid description), but I've only got the one gate at the top so can't say for sure, sorry.

    *Excellent quality gate with easy installation. **do7.pl/NSBabyGate** I have now had this gate for 6 months and it still functions exceptionally well. You need to fine tune the adjustments to ensure a good fit. My only complaint is that it is very difficult in my stairway to get the exact adjustment on each side to ensure a good closure on the top and bottom mechanism. And this adjustment is thrown off when the middle loosens up. I can manually pull it to back into place but its too bad the middle brackets don't tighten down better.Although this deserves in many ways 4 stars because of the problems stated above I gave it 5 stars because there is no perfect gate on the market yet and this is the best one on the market I have seen and tried. Its very nice looking. Much much higher end looking than any other gate I have seen. So many gates cheapen the look of a house. We wanted to avoid that in our new home.Pros:Fairly easy install. Drill pilot holes first as a recommendationVery nice looking and high quality. Metal gate is much better than those cheaper plastic gates.Durability is excellent. Not issues so farToddler rarely gets it open (from pulling the bottom)Closes shut well and opens easily (if adjustment is spot on)Cons:Adjustment to get it to close and open perfectly can be tricky.Middle plastic bracket that you tighten to secure the gate width in place is prone to move*

    Very cool design and perfect performance but the horizontal profile on the floor can be removed just with a little modification. Having a obstacle in the stair case is dangerous and can cause people seriously damage if they miss the obstacle specially during the night.

    • @rhino16v39
      @rhino16v39 3 роки тому

      I understand the point you are making but I really wouldn't remove the horizontal bar at the bottom, the whole thing would just fall apart as it's this bar that provides the tension to hold the gate in place.

    • @rhino16v39
      @rhino16v39 4 роки тому

      In my trial fit in this vid when everything was a bit "loose" it closed by itself without issue. Since I straightened it out and tightened it all up I have had the same. For me, giving it a little lift to close has not been an issue, also it still clicks into place with bit of swing, rather than under its own weight. I suspect there is a "sweet spot" for the tightness of the gap to allow the gate to close by it self. You could try loosening it a bit and see what happens, but obviously don't make it so loose that it's no longer sturdy.

    • @dennisgillberg1154
      @dennisgillberg1154 4 роки тому

      My gate also had a large gap up to and I could not understand why. At first I thought something was missing. Men then I realized that it was just a matter of tightening the sides at the top and unscrewing the screws so the gate locks perfectly.

    • @rhino16v39
      @rhino16v39 4 роки тому

      If you mean the gap is by the latch that holds the gate shut then I'd expect you may not have fitted it correctly. You'll need to extend the screws at the top corners to "push" the gap together, as per Dennis' comment above. It'll be the same for all pressure fit gates, not just this specific one.

    Ok, first off its great to find an English installation video that goes into more detail, and not just skipping to the finished article and ending. However, pressure mounted gates should NOT be used at the top of the stairs - ever. Because of the obvious risk it a toddler pushes and, god forbid it's worked loose, gate and baby go careening downstairs. It's perfectly fine for doorways or on first step at bottom of stairs. Also I'm horrified that, nit only are you using it at the top of stairs, but have installed it without the cups to further secure it tightly to the wall and, aren't going to use the supplied pads to do it but something else? I'm not really understanding the "let's see how it goes, it's a bit wobbly etc" attitude tbh. Please, please fix it properly and, if using at the top of the stairs, please use th screws version for extra security!!
