Early 2003 Ford 6.0 diesel rocker box/oil rail striped bolt repair.

This video shows how to use a 1/4 - 20 tap to repair a stripped oil rail bolt to the rocker box, this is a common issue and this repair is quick and easy. I chose to use 1/4 - 20 as it is a more coarse than the original thread and I feel less likely to strip again.
Early 2003 Ford 6.0 Oil Rail Nipple Cup and Injector Seal Replacement No Start Hot.

*UPDATE* (When Installing the brass/copper ring/seal on the injector the ridge side goes out) This was a no start hot situation on an early 2003 6.0 diesel, this shows the replacement of high pressure oil rail seals, nipple cups and complete replacement of injector seals. I AM NOT a mechanic but this will give you an idea as to how truly easy this job is for those that have a no start issue or ...

    I have 2003 early 6.0 powerstroke and it doesnt turn on when hot. Takes 1 day to restart. PO 2285 Old codes were Injector 2 and 8 contribution. Took off ICP and no oil on plug or wire. Can injectors be rebuilt just by changing seals? Can dirty oil or the wrong oil cause this?

    • @Sirskullet
      @Sirskullet 11 місяців тому

      sorry I just now saw your question. a couple of things maybe, did you unscrew the bleed valve a couple of turns to allow the fluid to flow? if so, the valve may be plugged, I would unscrew the valve completely and clean it or find a new replacement.

    Did you have the pedal up or was the pedal on the floor when you were adding fluid through the bleeder? ... I barely believe it but my new hydraulic line popped out of my new slave after 4 or 5 months of use... Idk why but I can't get it as good as it was... I tried a little of what you did here before using my lungs, it kinda worked,.but I lost a good amount of fluid because I didn't have a great deal with the tube on the bleeder valve... Is your clutch springy at the top like it should be? I couldn't get that last bit before , though it shifted fine.

    I was reading the procedure on how to do the slave cylinder bleed. I just finished putting the transmission back in. I was like “WTF!!!”. I just put a splitter into reservoir, one connected to line, the other with bleeder. I learned it works on either end. I put mine near the reservoir, then just pump and open to bleed it, like a brake line, you can even use the hose, and fluid in container to bleed yourself.

    People can take a stick and you push the clutch to the floor Then you begin the work of replacing the slave cylinder and that way the master cylinder doesn't go empty Then take out the stick and do some gravity bleeding without running dry and you should be almost completely done

    • @Sirskullet

      I guess I wasn’t very specific in my video I had just replaced the slave cylinder in that truck and had tried many different ways to bleed it and then figured out that it was Easiest to do it the way I show in the video I didn’t mean that it was going to fix an old Slave cylinder problem… If you don’t have any clutch pedal and didn’t change out the slave cylinder then it’s likely bad and needs replaced.

    I was thinking of putting an air fitting in an old master cylinder cap, to force fluid through the system. I did try the Mityvac method, poking into the master and removing air through the top. Nothing. Obviously the traditional bleed method doesn't work on these (Or ZF5s) at all. This seems like it will work quite well.

    Ok so I had a small oil leak start about 3 days ago today I started my vehicle warmed it up started driving for about 10 15 minutes and the a banging noise happened sounds like a banging clanking noise coming from top of engine but hard to tell could this be the problem ? I'm trying to find different sounds to compare mine to those but alot of youtube videos is mostly just saying repairs without letting us hear the noise

    • @Sirskullet
      @Sirskullet 2 роки тому

      I suppose it could be, there’s only one way to find out and taking the valve covers off is easy enough, the gaskets are reusable as they are rubber. The bolts on mine stripped when I was backing them out to make the oil leak repair, so if you had/did some work then it’s certainly a possibility they got stripped and it when unnoticed.
