    The difference between pouring it into the filter, and pouring it into the valve cover, is that when you pour it up top, it passes through the filter before being pumped into the bearings of the engine. When you pour into the center of the filter, its bypassing the filter and going straight into the bearings. Now, with bottled oil like that, its probably fine. With bulk oil, there is a higher chance of there being some junk in there, and that is why it's not recommended to do that.

  • @onemoremisfit
    @onemoremisfit 7 місяців тому

    Whatever oil is in the center of that filter goes straight to the crank bearings. There are those who claim that new oil right out of the jug potentially has all kinds scary stuff that the maker might have allowed to get into the product. I get that, but leaving the filter empty lets another 10 seconds of air and zero oil pressure thru the bearings in addition to the zero pressure you always normally get after an oil/filter change. So if you don't trust the new oil out of the jug I guess you need a fine mesh screen to pour it thru into the filter. I have always pre-filled the filter on my cars for over 45 years and so far I have not trashed any of my engines with a random particle that people are saying might be in the new oil. At some point when working on your car's engine you just have to concede that this isn't going to be a sterile surgical operating room that you're working in.

  • @OMEGAVONDOOM
    @OMEGAVONDOOM 7 місяців тому

    When you add oil through the valve cover it drains directly to the oil pan then it is drawn through the filter by the pump. Fresh oil isn't dirty so that's a stupid argument.

    • @Krankie_V
      @Krankie_V 7 місяців тому

      Fresh oil from a bulk container often isn't all that clean. But this was from a bottle so it's probably not got any sediment in it.

    Ryobi lost all interest in the garage door openers when they were sued by Chamberlain and lost. I was one of the first to have one of these, but will buy something else when I can't keep it going. Most of the problems I have had was fixed by unplugging it and plugging it back in.

    This helped some. So I noticed the black trolley that taxi’s the door up and down was stuck. By detaching the garage door and then pressing holding the up button for it to glow then pressing the down I noticed that trolley moved up some. I then manually closed my garage door until it clicked back into the trolley (I am not sure it that is the actual name of the little piece that locks the door down when closed but let’s go with it). I then pressed the down until the door went down and had no light. I started the programming using the up method he refers to in the other video. It worked!!!!!

    Just watched a few of your vids and the oil leaks seem to be a problem for you. I had similar issues at about 35k miles. The dealership called it a weep and not a leak. Same thing if you ask me. Take your oil fill cap off while the truck is running to see if it pops off. If it does that’s a huge sign you need to change that ccv filter. Ford doesn’t have a maintenance interval for that filter and none of the service writers will have a clue what your talking about if you ask them about it. I changed that filter and problem was solved. Haven’t seen any oil there since. Now I replace the CCV filter every 30k miles with 140k on the truck.

    I'm back to share some information regarding the issue you and I and many are having with this opener. I happen to read online that ryobi has a lifetime warranty on the motor and belt. So I called thinking my motor maybe failing and causing the beeping without motion. He (ryobi tech) said that sound is an overload warning, often caused if a cable was binding up or spring issue. He told me to disengage the opener from the garage door and see if it felt heavy to lift it manually. He said the springs should let the door just about balance midway if the springs were doing what they were supposed to. I checked and my door was pretty damn heavy and not easy to lift manually. So I bought new springs (make sure you get the right weight for your door) and installed them today. So far it seems to be working and I know its only a day but what I can tell you is my door goes up much easier and the motor doesn't sound like i'ts straining when it starts like it had before the new spring and I can manually open it with one hand now. I'll keep you posted but either way (if I change the opener) I'm glad I replaced my springs. 🤞
