In this video, Nicky from Through Nicky's Lens walks you through the mandatory documents required for your Canadian Express Entry profile to secure Permanent Residency (PR). Learn how to prepare your passport, language test results, and Education Credential Assessment (ECA).
Nicky also highlights the importance of proof of funds, work experience letters, police certificates, and more. Ensure your Express Entry profile is complete to increase your chances of obtaining Canadian PR. Stay tuned for vital insights!
Mandatory Documents for All Applicants:
1. Passport or Travel Document:
o Submit all pages showing biographical information, stamps, or visas.
2. Language Test Results:
o From an IRCC-approved test (e.g., IELTS, CELPIP for English; TEF for French). Results must be less than two years old at the time of your PR application.
3. Education Credential Assessment (ECA):
o Required for applicants claiming education points or applying under the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP). This assessment verifies the equivalency of your foreign education to Canadian standards. Ensure the ECA is from a designated organization such as WES, CES, or others, and that it’s valid (typically for five years from the date of issuance).
4. Proof of Funds:
o Not required for applicants with a valid job offer or those applying under the Canadian Experience Class. For others, you must provide proof that you have sufficient settlement funds to support yourself and your family. This can be in the form of official letters from financial institutions showing account balances and transaction history.
5. Work Experience Documents:
o Provide reference letters from previous and current employers. These letters must clearly indicate your job title, duties, start and end dates, and working hours (full-time or part-time). Additionally, include salary details and other information confirming the legitimacy of your work experience.
6. Police Certificates:
o Required for every country where you’ve lived for six months or more since age 18. Police certificates must be issued within six months of your application submission.
7. Medical Examination:
o Required to prove that you and your family members are medically admissible to Canada. The medical exam must be conducted by a panel physician approved by IRCC and is valid for 12 months from the date of the exam.
8. Digital Photo
9. Civil Status Documents
10. Children’s Information
11. Translations
Other Documents (If Applicable):
12. Job Offer
13. Provincial Nomination

    Hi Nicky ! We have submitted our Express Entry thought the IRCC outside of Canada. They said the wait time for Express Entry through Provisional nominees is 6 months. Its been 8 months and there is any emails from IRCC. There is no emails or what so ever to contact IRCC. Please advise accordingly.

      Hey, Thanks for your question. As far as I know, you are closer to an approval by the time you receive such a request (the PR portal confirmation). IRCC will now do a bit more processing and get back to you. More than likely with an approval of your PR. I am not sure what percentage of people, if any, that get a rejection at this stage but I believe that getting the request is a good sign for your application. All the best with the rest of the process. Regards, Nicky

      Hey Jestina. Great question; thanks. Civil status documents are:- 1. Marriage Certificate: Required if you’re married. 2. Divorce or Annulment Certificate: Needed if you’re separated, divorced, or widowed. 3. Common-Law Union Documents: If you’re declaring a common-law partner, submit evidence of at least 12 months of continuous cohabitation, including joint bills, lease agreements, or other proof.

      Hi Lucy, You are very welcome. The timeline for each applicant is truly different as everyone's circumstances are very different as well as the volume of applications, the office and officer processing your application all play a part in determining the speed at which your application is processed. I say all that to say that unfortunately I am not sure anyone has an answer for your question. What I found helpful was to search for and join Facebook groups that relate to PR processing and in particular those related to the Non-Express Entry PR Portal. Being a part of those groups.ay be helpful as people tend to share their timelines and progress and you may find someone in the group that has a similar submission date as you or even close and their shared updates can help you gauge when to expect what. When you join the groups just read through and see what you can find about the general expectations and such. Here is a group you could join: facebook.com/share/g/nJm3V7DA8rDTtUNL/?mibextid=A7sQZp I truly wish you all the best in the process.

      Thanks for clarifying your question. I don't know for sure of the implications of having a medical condition and how IRCC will treat that related to an approval or not, BUT, as far as I know, the government wants to know that any person they approve as a PR will not be putting a significant strain on the healthcare system. As such, I would want to believe that having hypertension or hypotension are medical conditions that the Canadian healthcare system can manage. I personally would not worry too much about it. Remain positive and try not to overthink it.i don't know much about health conditions related to blood pressure but please look at this webpage from IRCC's website to learn more www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/immigrate-canada/inadmissibility/reasons/medical-inadmissibility.html I wish you all the best with everything.

    Hi Nicky Thanks for informative video, I have a question: Completed IME exam and panel physician has submitted results in emedical system 10 days, but still PR application status is showing ‘Your action is pending’, May I know how long it will take to update the status in GCKey portal and Do I need to submit a copy of test results through webform?

    • @ThroughNickysLens
      @ThroughNickysLens 10 днів тому

      Hi Oscar, Congratulations on submitting your PR application. I personally did an upfront medical and have never had to upload a pending document to IRCC before. As far as I know, when they send you a request for a document they should always do something from their end on the system so you have somewhere to upload the pending document I assume similar to how you uploaded the initial supporting documents with your PR application. Despite the fact that the panel physician is to electrically submit the medical form to IRCC, it is your responsibility to upload the document the physician gave you with the unique medical IME number to you. Explore the documents section of the portal to see if you can locate where to upload the pending document. If you can't find it, you would have to call IRCC and I would also try sending the IME form you received from the physician via an IRCC web form and hope they get to it in time and you won't have any significant delays for not submitting the form on time. I truly wish you all the best with your PR. Regards, Nicky

      @@ThroughNickysLens Thank You so much for your detailed response. Since it was mentioned in IRCC website that no need to send any documents as panel physician is submitting the documents, I didn’t submit web form. But as you suggested I will submit the proof of IME completion through webform as I don’t have any option to upload in my PR application. One more follow up question, will submitting web form will further delay my processing time or any impact on my application? Thanks in Advance.

    • @ThroughNickysLens
      @ThroughNickysLens 8 днів тому

      Hi Oscar, As was mentioned in my initial response I have never had to upload a requested document for any of my immigration applications but as I always hear people mentioned including an immigration lawyer I follow, there should be a place in your PR application that the officer should open for the upload of the requested document. Since you saw on IRCC's website that there is no need to upload the IME as the panel physician would send the report to IRCC then follow that guideline. I know for our upfront medical the doctor gave us a form to upload although his office would electronically send the results to IRCC on our behalf. Re your follow up question, a Web form upload of a document to IRCC would only delay your application if that is the only medium available to upload a requested document from IRCC. Since you mentioned that IRCC's website instructed that you do not have to upload the IME document then given that information you have, I don't believe there should be a delay on your application due to you submitting it by a web form. I wish you all the very best with your application 😊

    Thanks for this useful information. From the video 9:19 , does it imply that the spouse (who is not Principal applicant) does not have to show proof of work experience if the work experience is foreign (not Canadian experience) even if it was included in the EE application? Thank you

    • @ThroughNickysLens
      @ThroughNickysLens 10 днів тому

      Hi Elizabeth, Only Canadian work experience for a spouse who is not a principal applicant will give them points in EE. As such, it is advisable to not put any foreign work experience in the express entry profile. When you do that (not include any foreign work experience for the spouse in the EE profile) once you get the ITA the PR application won't ask you for a supporting document for the spouse's foreign work experience. Where you would record the foreign work experience for your spouse and for you (or any work experience that you cannot get points for or you cannot get an employee verification letter/ proof of work experience) is on your personal details section (I think it's called; I don't remember exactly) of the PR application that asks you for ALL of your activities you have done in the last 10 years including your foreign work experience, school attended, periods of unemployment and any other major activities you attended in that 10 years period. If you did put the foreign work experience for your spouse on the EE profile, the system will as you for a proof of work experience letter and you must submit one or MAYBE (please fact check this) a letter of explanation will help. Personally I would exhaust all my options and show proof of those efforts to get the related proof of work experience letter to upload even if it won't help the PR application. I hope that makes sense to you. All the very best with your PR application 😊 Regards, Nicky

    Hi I have already submitted my bcpnp application few weeks ago and now I have a doubt on work experience for the past 10 years. I did put only 2 work experience because that’s the only job I did in BC and on top of that I am new in here and didn’t put other experience because it’s from a different country. Do you think I need to mention my past experience from different country as well. Thanks for your help ❤

    • @ThroughNickysLens
      @ThroughNickysLens 10 днів тому

      Hello Choeda, I hope you are well. Thanks so much for your question. The question in the BC PNP application asks "Do you have work experience in the past ten years?" Then tells you to "List your work experience in the past 10 years, starting with the most recent, including your current position if applicable." Just so you know, they did not ask you only about your Canadian work experience, they asked for your work experience in the last 10 years so that means ALL of the jobs you have done in the last 10 years even those while you were a student and even if they were high skilled jobs or not. I know you said you already sent in your BC PNP application, but I wanted to clarify. Did you mean after you received an ITA or are you talking about the registration expressing your interest for the province to nominate you? If it's the actual application for a nomination that you submitted a few weeks ago, I would recommend that you write to the BC PNP email address and explain your situation and maybe put your resume detailing all the jobs you have had in the past 10 years and explain that you misunderstood the question. I truly wish you all the best in your endeavors.

      Hello Prince Fiad... I agree with you. It's a matter of knowing the province you intend to get a nomination from and being prepared to settle there until at least you become a citizen if you do choose to eventually move between provinces. I'm not thinking of moving from where I am right now but who knows what the future holds... Would keep my options open but with no immediate plans to relocate. We must be mindful of why we were Nomi and at least try our best to settle in that province without a plan to move shortly after.

    Hi Nicky, I just recently got the nomination in alberta through AOS stream. the thing is I am confused on this part right here on additional form. When you search it down in all the additional form list, you could see a statutory declaration of common law and the checklist of it. Now my question is do I have to fill up this? my common law is with me here as a open work

      @ThroughNickysLens 19 днів тому

      Hello Ma Joanna 👋👋 thanks so much for you question. Congratulations 👏🎉👏🎉👏 to you on your nomination and all the best with your PR application process!!! You mentioned that your partner is here with you in Canada, from what I know, regardless of the fact that your partner is here with you in Canada, completing and submitting the form is a way to prove your common-law relationship to IRCC. So yes, I believe you need to fill and submit the statutory declaration of common law form as part of your application to IRCC since you would not have any other way of proving your relationship to IRCC. I would strongly encourage you to do further research on this or consider doing a consultation with a regulated immigration consultant or lawyer to be very sure. In my case for our Express Entry application, we had to submit our marriage certificate to prove our relationship although we already proved it numerous times before for our temporary resident applications. I truly hope that this will help to clarify things better for you.

      👋 Hey, Congratulations on your ITA. I would submit the IMM form you received from 2020 since you should not submit a new one. as information on IRCC'S website indicates that if they cannot use the medical you already did they will request a new one. You can check this link, it says: www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/immigrate-canada/express-entry/documents/medical-exams.html "If you have already completed an IME If you have already completed an IME as part of a previous application (for example, to work or study) and are currently living in Canada, you may not need to complete another one when you apply for permanent residence. When the panel physician completed your exam they would have given you an information printout sheet and IMM 1017B Upfront Medical Report form Please provide a copy of these documents, or your IME number (or unique medical identifier number) from your previous medical exam when you apply online. If we cannot use your old results, we’ll send you instructions on how to get your medical exam done after you submit your application."

    Hey 👋 thank you for watching. What are your views on moving from a province that has nominated you to become a permanent resident of Canada? Should you move from that province after you become a permanent resident before fulfilling your commitment to settle and help to contribute to building the province? Thanks in advance for your contribution.

      Hi Nandeesh, Thanks for your question. I don't know if you watched my video or if you have done research on IRCC's website to see what the requirements are for medicals for PR, but upfront medicals are no longer required for PR application. I indicated this change in my video. At present, for PR though EE, you must wait for IRCC to send you the request to do your medical. The information on IRCC's website states that "When to get your medical exam As of October 1, 2023, you no longer need to get an upfront medical examination before you submit your application for permanent residence through Express Entry. After you submit your complete application for permanent residence, we’ll send you instructions on how to get your medical exam done. Please wait for our instructions before going for a medical exam. This also applies to clients who are being sponsored as a spouse, partner or child. Please read the instructions to find out when to book your appointment the type of medical exam you need to get" Here's the link to the information I shared above www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/application/medical-police/medical-exams/requirements-permanent-residents.html All the best with your application for PR 😊

    Hi, how long did it take you to get the police cert? My partner and I got an ITA and we did the fingerprint, passport cert, etc., and sent them off last week (we didn't think to send to someone, we just sent it straight to the commissioner but will have someone collect and send us pics since everything is uploaded electronically). We paid for express (both mail and with the commissioner), but our document won't get to Ja til first week of Sept. So, I am curious how long it took you to get everything done. Thanks!

    • @ThroughNickysLens
      @ThroughNickysLens 25 днів тому

      Hi Blake. Thanks so much for your question and your explanation so I can understand your case a bit better. When we did our police record check we paid for the 21 days service because we did it in advance knowing that we wouldn't be going back to Jamaica for a while so when we got the ITA we already had all that we needed. When we did the 21 days service they gave the person a date to come back to collect it within the 21 working days period and it was ready at that particular date. In your case, it is not a process I have dealt with before using the commissioner of police so I assume once the documents get to the office in Jamaica is when the processing time that you paid for will start to count. Once the timeframe passes it should be ready. The express is 3 days right? I forgot. If so, I would give at least a full week after the estimated arrival date before the person goes to check on the status of the report. At least that's what I would do... I'm also not sure of the arrangements you have. But they were on time with the report as per the date they gave for the person collecting to come back. Please ensure that the scan the person will do to send to you is in colour and the PDF quality is good to upload to IRCC. I wish you all the very best with your process and congratulations on your ITA ☺️

      Hi Harman, this did not happen to me as I did not use a representative but I believe that all you will have to do is to respond to the email address that sent the email to your representative. I personally would hit reply to the email the representative sent to me but since the representative's email would be the one automatically there to reply to, instead of replying with the information to your representative I would copy the email of the IRCC account that sent the request and send the response to them instead. By doing that they would see the email thread and know which application the response is for. At least to me doing it that way makes sense. I hope you will figure a way so you can respond to the email in time. All the best with your application.

      Hey Charito! 👋 Thanks so much for your support and for your question. As you mentioned, and at least as far as I know, the job offer you have will not give you points in Express Entry so you must answer no to the question that asks if you have a job offer. This is assuming you have not already gotten an ITA Also, when you say job offer, have you already started working in the job? I'm trying to understand why you would want to include that job offer as part of your PR application. If it is a job you have not started yet, you would not be able to include it in your profile/ PR application until you start working in the job and include it as a work experience. I hope I am not misunderstanding your question and ranting. Is this job offer post ITA by the way? Your answers to this question and knowing if you already started working in this job would be helpful to know. I look forward to hearing back from you soon. Hi Charito, Okay got it..since you just started in the job for your Express Entry profile you would need to add that job as part of your work experience. Maybe not as your primary NOC since you just started in the job and if you don't have previous work experience from in your home country in the same NOC you would have to use one of your other high skilled jobs form your home country as your primary NOC. So, to use your current job offer (without getting points since you mentioned it's for only 1 year) you would put it as a work experience since you recently started working in the job. I hope that helps. All the best with your profile and EOI.

      Hello Foundation Physics, thank you for your question. I am very sorry to hear that you saw the email request late; however I am happy it wasn't later than that. Based on the email you would have received, the attachment document did mention that you should respond within 7 days to prevent any undue delays. Since you did already respond to the appropriate email account with the information they requested, I believe you would only have to wait for them to acknowledge your email after they have processed it. I believe also that as the email did mention, it would only delay your application but possibly it won't delay it for long since you did only miss responding for a few days. I would recommend that you regularly keep checking your email to ensure that you don't miss anything else. If you choose to, you could fill out the web form but I don't think it's necessary, especially that they usually take a very long time to respond to the web form that persons send. All the best with the rest of the process for your PR application 🙌

      You are so right my dear. On the flip side, changes in circumstances can also boost someone's profile and the likelihood to get an IT'A. Two things that come to mind in this regard are a valid job offer such as an LMIA that makes a person eligible for adding points and even an upward change in language scores, even gaining proficiency in another language. So for sure, ensuring that the Express Entry profile is up to date is quite important and can surely prevent the unwanted from having a profile becoming ineligible.

Does that mean it took only one month to process your PR application? Did you guys submit your application via express entry? Did you do upfront medical prior to submitting your application? How long did it take for you to get the biometric instruction letter from IRCC? Pls update. This can be of help to some of us..

    • @ThroughNickysLens
      @ThroughNickysLens Місяць тому

      Hi, thank you for your questions. The timeline I gave in the video is accurate. We did upfront medicals because at the time, IRCC was accepting upfront medicals for express entry PR applications. At the time as well, a temporary policy was in place that did not require us to submit biometrics since they already had our biometrics from our TRVs. And yes this PR was through Express Entry.

      Hi NKMahil. Not that the checklist asks for. At least, not an upfront medical as upfront medicals are no longer required for PR applications. They would eventually request your medical report after they start processing your application and it has been determined that your application is complete. At least that's what I am aware of and the experience of others I know who used this route for PR.

      Hi Xiong, you are very welcome. Thanks for your question. If you are speaking about PR through Express Entry, upfront medicals are no longer required and it is recommended that you only do a medical when the IRCC officer requests it from you and gives you an instruction letter on how to go about getting the medical done. Personally, if it's not a required document as part of your PR application, I would not get the medical done unless they ask. All the best with your application 😊

      Hi Geraldine, thanks so much for your question. I got my PR through PNP in NS. Can I relocate to another province after PR approval? Also, does the Non Express entry program require WES?

    • @ThroughNickysLens
      @ThroughNickysLens Місяць тому

      Hello Kneequayealbert. Thank you for your questions. Generally, when you apply for PR through a province you are committing to live, work and contribute to the economy of that province and it is an expectation that you will do your best to settle, live, work and help to develop the province. People have a freedom to move and live in any province in Canada; however, once a province nominated you and you received your PR, it is the expectation that you will reside there for a few years, maybe 2 to 4 years before you try to move to another. The fact that it MAY impact your citizenship application in the future is one reason to stay in that province and try to settle as best you can. If you are unable to settle after much genuine efforts and there are no other options, you may consider to relocate but you will then have to prove to IRCC that you were unable to settle and you had to move. I personally would not recommend you leave until after some years because of you do, it may pose challenges for you in the future with immigration. As far as I know, a province also reserves the right to request that IRCC revokes your PR status if they know you left the province and you "breached" the terms of your nomination. As per your question re Non-Express Entry and the requirement to have a WES evaluation, my response to that is provide it only for any foreign qualifications you have, especially if you submitted one with your application for a nomination to a province. It may not have been required by the province but if you do have one I would submit it through the Non-Express Entry portal. I don't see on the checklist for the Non-Express Entry program that it is a mandatory document, but, there is an allowance for you to upload a relevant document to your application as long as you have it. I would also do some more research including looking at the personalized checklist that was generated to see if it is a document noted as mandatory. In Express Entry it is not a mandatory document but if you have only a foreign education having the ECA from WES or any other authorized body to do the evaluation of the credentials would give someone more points and proves that your degree is recognized. Take those things into consideration or look into doing a consultation with a regulated immigration consultant to be sure. All the very best to you. Regards, Nicky

When I received the email from IRCC that a new case was created for us in the PR portal and they included the link to the new case, when I followed the link and since I already had loving credentials for the PR portal, I was able to use my previous login details and go on to view our profiles there and then upload our photos and confirm our address for the PR card to be created. The last time I did a check in IRCC's website on the timeline for processing through the portal you used it was saying 11 months and that was about 2 weeks ago. Your best best is to remain patient and try to find Facebook groups to join that are dedicated to people who used the Non-Express Entry process. They usually share their timelines there. What you need to keep in mind also is that each person's application is different so usually another person's timeline will not necessarily determine your own. Hello Christian 👋 thanks so much for your question. In order to be nominated by a province you need to research and see what programs the province that you want to be nominated by offer and the requirements for the programs. Take note of which program you may qualify for and what you need to have in place to be qualified to apply/ register on the website of the province to show your interest to the province. Once you meet the requirements the province will do periodic draws and issue invitations to apply to selected applicants. Once you receive an ITA you apply for the nomination and wait for your application to be processed. Thereafter, you would take the next steps to apply for PR through Express Entry (having received an ITA through EE) or apply through the Non-Express Entry portal. I did a video on this and it will go live on my channel in a few minutes.
