There is something about being in the wild that draws us back to our roots, reminds us that we are not as far removed from nature as we often believe. As much as we try to shelter ourselves from the natural world, at our core we know that we were meant to feel the rain on our skin, the sun on our face, the wind in our ears. Our humanness is bound to nature in a deep, unyielding way.
All of us can learn and grow from time in the outdoors, but children blossom the most with the freedom, the excitement, the beauty of wild places. That all of us know and love the simple beauty of nature, the things that cost nothing and feed our souls the most, is my wish.
Follow along on our journey of family and nature.
Thanks!

Living Tree Stump: Community in the Forest
Recently, I stumbled upon a patch of living tree stumps, and it got me thinking about how we can sustain one another through community.
I will never be so bold as to believe I know the motivation behind the natural world, and it’s quite possible that this is more of a parasitic sort of coupling, where one tree takes the opportunity to expand its root network and actually strengthen itself via the expanding roots of another tree.
It’s nice to think of the forest as a caring community however, and if nothing else we can take this example of communal resilience and use it as a framework to strengthen our own lives and connections.
Thanks for stopping by to watch, feel free to leave a respectful comment, and don’t forget to subscribe! 🌲 🏔️ 🐻

Unseen Wild: April Nights at the Spring Pond- Bears, Mountain Lions and more

Relax. Take a quiet moment by the spring pond, letting nature’s quiet nights seep in. The stealthy mountain lion stalks past, intent on something unseen, the bear mother leads her cubs to water, foraging fresh spring grass, biding her time until there is more food to be had. A solitary black bear roams through, takes a quick dip, and relaxes for a bit. Bats swoop low, feeding on mosquitos, and ...

Thank you for the great video. Very good footage.
@@BigJim-wj4xr thanks for watching! 😊
@@IrisGardner You are welcome. Please be careful out there.
Great video. This is something i have never seen.
@@darrylthurston4336 I expected it to be a deer and was surprised to find an elk under all those pine needles! Thanks for watching! 😊
Where are we in The world ? And what breed is it Connemara ?
hi! this is Northeastern Washington state, USA. Amora is a Kiger Mustang. thanks for watching!
@@IrisGardnerthanks no wonder she is so surefooted if she is a mustang - looks perfekt in my eye 😊
So good Iris!
Wow! Thank you
There are several in the yard next to us near a large lone Douglas fir. I suspect they do a lot to maintain the vitality of that lone tree.
Massive extended root network should do a lot to keep that big fir strong!
Is this real? I am flabbergasted. This is my version of true paradise. So astonishing beautiful.
💯 real and the best place to be! 💛
Beautiful! Really like looking at that mane. Great photography!
Many thanks! I love the fjord mane swish too! 😊
They've only got one horse power, but they're built Fjord tough.
Haha, so true!
Just magnificent, him and the terrain.
Thank you! 😊
My desire future
I hope you get it! 💛
This footage would have been interesting all on its own, but you made it so much more valuable with the context and insight you brought to it via the editing and narration. And you are one brave human being, too. Thank you! 🙏🏻
Thanks so much, I’m really glad that you enjoyed it! 😊
Absolutely amazing Iris - thank you so much for sharing!!! So many lessons if we slow our pace, our breath to allow space to see stuff like this. I always wonder what I am missing out there…..so much to glean.
Thanks so much for watching! The forest is full of amazing things. 😊
Possibly a once in a life time video. THANKS and thanks for explaining how it benifits other animals. It's the circle of life in nature. Amazing how they camo and vanish in to the brush so close. .THANKS again.
Thanks for watching! I’m amazed at their camouflage too!
Iris , nice video. Interesting and relaxing. I like your voice ♥️.
Thanks for watching David, I’m glad you enjoyed it! 😊
Cougars are gorgeous!! ❤❤Thank you for sharing this!
Thank you for taking the time to watch! They’re fascinating animals.
Excellent commentary too.
Glad you liked it! Thanks for watching 😊
Thank you for the great footage & the real life drama!
Philadelphia checking in. Amazing footage.
Thanks Don!
@@IrisGardner keep up the trail cams please. I am a city boy n never see wildlife. So ty for content.
Nature is filled with such wisdom. I have several quartz crystals, etc. that have self healed points, just in the same manner as the tree stumps. I find such power of healing in them as I do in all of Nature. Thank you Iris for this gem of a video ❤
Nature is the source of all healing. If we take care of it and allow it space to be as it should, everything else will fall into place. Thanks for watching! 💛
Nature never ceases to amaze… thank you for sharing this experience! Life is like a beautiful painting and you add another layer of color to it, Iris!
There are endless lessons we can take from nature to improve our own lives. Thanks for watching Arvid! 💛
Very cool. The cougars look in good shape - nice to see.
Well fed wildlife means well behaved wildlife. I’m always happy to see healthy looking animals. Thanks for watching!
Awesome video you got!
Thank you! And thanks for watching! 😊
Dogs with you can trigger a defensive bear attack on the dogs. Which becomes an attack on you as their Alpha. It is a risk.
Indeed. Simply stepping foot into nature is a risk. It’s best to be vigilant and prepared, but not fearful to live fully. Thanks for watching. 😊
Aren't they beautiful animals...have visited a couple at the Exotic Feline Rescue Center at Center Point, IN. Once, I approached one whose picture I had taken several times in the past, and as I got closer to his enclosure, he snarled at me. Never done that before, then I noticed he had a front paw draped over a deer leg. He thought I was after his food!!! 😊
They really are quite incredible!
Where are you. Awesome video
Thank you! NE Washington state.
@@IrisGardner I'm from pt townsend
Also a beautiful place!
I love Hucks beautiful green eyes Great video, I live in central Kentucky among the hollers n streams n just love Mother Nature n animals
your awesome iris, i love these videos! Hello from N vermont
Thanks Jonathan! 😊
@@IrisGardner Of course! I should learn patience from you lol
5:29 what a great whistle! I'm 70, and have never learned to whistle. My mom tried to teach me when I was 6 or 7, but I never got the hang of it.
I can’t say I’m a great whistler, but enough to call the dogs back! 😊
What the hell they want the cougar to do will be a vegetarian like some loony lefty nut job
UNLIKE DOMESTICATED DOGS THAT ARE GETTING FED 3TO4 TIMES A DAY A MOUNTAIN LION IN THE WILD DOES NOT HAVE IT THE SAME WAY & ITS NOT LIKE THE MOUNTAIN LION CAN GO TO THE GROCERY STORE AT ANY TIME & SHOP
THATS STILL A YOUNG COUGAR LOOK AT THE SIZE ITS NOT EVEN FULLY GROWN
I'm glad you're brave enough to risk getting the footage haha! Loved it!
looks like you have invasive stiltgrass, too, just like us in PA
Great footage, not to many people I know would even be where your at. Id love to meet you and swap story's. You did good posting the video so the people can glimpse a piece of nature that we are at home in. The last one I found was a mule deer off in the desert kinds close to home hair everywhere the main part of the carcass was gone. Anyways thank you.
Thanks Paul, I appreciate the kind words. I love nature and it’s nice to be able to share little bits of it with people who don’t get to see it the way that I do. 😊
Seems it's more about the novelty and instinctive action.. Of the hunt and treasure. Than actually eating the damn thing Lol this is best footage 👍 👌 Great insight on their dimenor.. just reminds they are simply wild house Cats... always on alert and don't want trouble. And absolutely EPIC! the young scaring its mother... just for kicks 😅just to prove..its stealth. Mom actually angered over it. Just like same scenario with humans.
Mom’s not impressed with the shenanigans! 😆 Thanks for sticking around to watch the video. 😊
GREAT VIDEO!!
Glad you enjoyed it! 😊
Just found your channel, love the video
Awesome! Thank you so much! 😊
Amazing video, such a treat to watch! 💚
Glad you enjoyed it! I love sharing these amazing moments in the forest. 😊
Beautiful! Thank you for capturing sharing. I could not see the one that pounced. Nor did I see number 3 until it moved .Even watching the brush it reappeared around the tree and I didn’t manage to follow it.Yikes. They are great shape. Liked and sub’d.
Thanks John! Their stealth and camouflage is incredible.
That first one looks fairly young they are so beautiful love the face
Sasquatch also makes a screaming sound. Beautiful area you guys live love pines be careful iris
It would really throw me for a loop if I caught Sasquatch on a trail cam.
Good spot. cool vid
Glad you enjoyed, thanks for watching! 😊
What a great video ...thank you
You are so welcome! Thanks for watching! 😊
Beautiful how so called hunters can kill these for fun is quite appalling
damn, look at the size of its paws
Would be incredible if they actually hunted together in a pack.
We wouldn’t have so many dear ticks IF we had more predators.
I guess that makes sense. 😆
As we know, not all deer are elk, but all elk are deer.
Mountain lions like to catch and eat dogs in particular so just because you have a dog with you it doesn’t mean you’re safe.
This is true, I had one kill a dog right in front of me once. But having two dogs really does help.
