      The problem is that steel gauntlets are more dangerous If a polymer plate breaks on a gauntlet, you buy a new one If a steel plate breaks on a gauntlet, and they do, then you may be going to the ER for a stab wound in your hand

      @MadGammon I guess you thought this was going to be your "a true alpha is speaking" moment huh? Let's do a thought experiment for a second. No one in this sport wants to break fingers, and so they spend hundreds of hard earned dollars a year on new glove tech. So reviewing them is the norm. Secondly, the instructors here make money teaching sword fighting. If they break their fingers, they can't earn. It's not a hobby when it's your profession. Lastly, there are multiple "little girls" in our club that put in the time, sweat, and lactic acid to be respected.

    The leg shot was too obvious. Plus while one is in motion of slipping the leg, a skilled fencer will stop the strike at low long point and carry out a rising thrust, and u die because u decided to slip the leg. Blocking the strike and binding is the better way.

    • @theflyingchickenHEMA
      @theflyingchickenHEMA 8 днів тому

      So while you are swinging at someone’s leg you are going to stop your attack and cut up while also parrying the strike to your head? It’s unlikely because of inertia and after your opponent cuts your head the cut coming down will parry the rising cut. Also parring a low cut to the leg leave your entire upper line open so any disengagement leaves your entire torso open

    • @edwinpoon
      @edwinpoon 8 днів тому

      @@theflyingchickenHEMA u don't just do a leg strike by itself, then clearly dear old Master L's oberlaufen will just wreck u if ur opponent is ready to launch it. If u understand this, the leg strike needs to come from a sequence where slipping will be extremely disadvantageous against a skilled fencer, becoz u need to spend tempo to react, and ur structure may be compromised.

  • @amehayami934
    @amehayami934 Місяць тому

    The Tsuba is almost bever used. We deflect with the blade, Side step and attack, Use momentum from the hit to attack. In my experience in really no part Of any Japanese sword fighting Kendo, Kenjutsu, Kubodo. It teaches you to use the Tsuba. In fact most of the time you wouldn't have enough time to even get your blade 3ven close to the tsuba. The tsuba is more for "just incase" And to show what family or clan you belong to. A lot of katanas might not even have a tsuba Caine katanas. Let's put it this way if you're using the tsuba to fight with a katana you're using the katana wrong.
