TRAINING DAY
Time to channel our inner Denzel because today is Training Day! The plan was to go to a cafe (of course), then the new $250 million training facility of the Los Angeles Charges, the city's newest football team, in El Segundo. But like the movie, the day turns into so much more than what was planned. Not only do we visit the training facility of the Chargers, but also the training facilities of three other major L.A. sports teams, plus some more surprises along the way. If there's one thing to learn from training, it's to always expect the unexpected!

TEMESCAL

Every now and then, it's nice to stay close to home, especially when you're short on time! In this video, we head down the spectacular California incline to the Santa Monica beach, then go one beach over to Will Rogers where we pick up a climb called Temescal. About 1.5 miles, it leads straight into Temescal Park where we just keep going until the road turns to rocks. It's amazing how fast one ...
PALOS VERDES: HAWTHORNE

When I feel like putting in miles, I don't have to look much further than Palos Verdes. From our starting point in Santa Monica, it's past Venice, past the airport, and past all of the South Bay beaches - Manhattan, Hermosa, Redondo. Usually, we make a full circle around the peninsula, but this time we go only half way and then go up a climb called Hawthorrne that bisects the peninsula, going u...
CARBON BEACH

When there's a heat wave, we head to the ocean waves. This time, it's to Carbon Beach, aka "Billionaire's Beach". What was once a private beach, it was forced to turn public in 2007. While most of the homes are right on the beach, there is a little neighborhood in the mountains right next to it. It's a small, of course exclusive neighborhood, and most importantly during a heat wave, it faces th...
TOLUCA LAKE

Is there a lake in Toluca Lake?! That was the impetus behind this week's ride to the San Fernando Valley neighborhood. To get there, we take Benedict Canyon up the hills of Beverly Hills, then along the drive of Mulholland Drive, down the canyon of Coldwater Canyon, and then wind our way find the lake of Toluca Lake. From the satellite images, it looks like it exists, but in reality, it is surr...

On this ride, we are getting into it! Yes, we are going to the brand new $2 billion home to the L.A. Clippers, the Intuit Dome. Located a block away from SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, I saw this being built so I was super excited to see it up close. There are so many fun facts about this arena, too - the panels wrapping the arena are meant to resemble a basketball net, it has more toilets than any...

Time to fly like an eagle up into the mountains. On this ride, we head to a mountainside community to meander our way up a climb called Rambla Vista. It's not the steepest or the tallest, but it does have some remarkable homes. Some of the most eclectic and unique architecture, but still one stands out perched above the rest - the magnificent home called the Eagle's Watch, designed by the world...
WINNETKA/PIERCE COLLEGE

I've said before that I enjoy checking out college campuses because they have proper bike infrastructure and cool architecture. Well, on this ride, we head to the Valley to a neighborhood called Winnetka where Pierce College is located. What makes Pierce College special, though, is not the design of its buildings, but that it began as an agricultural school, teaching animal husbandry and how to...

We're headed to the top, guys! Well, at least the top of a neighborhood called Hollywood Heights. This exclusive area is located between Hollywood and the Hollywood Bowl. It is summer, so we are going on a summer road trip! On this ride we head to Universal Studios Hollywood, which like many things in LA, is a little misleading. Having recently been, I can say from experience that Japan is a magical place. Clean streets, friendly people, and the most delicious food. Not to mention the public transportation! You might've heard of Broad City with Abby & Ilana, well this is Broad Beach with Susie & Sarah! That's right, I meet up with special guest, Sarah, and we hadn't seen each other in a while, so it's a good thing we had 60 miles to catch up. The destination was Broad Beach, but since it happens to be across from two big climbs, we go up the harder one, Decker, and down the other one, Encinal, bef...
STREET SERIES: BALLONA CREEK

We are taking it to the streets! On the second installment of the Street Series, where we go all the way from beginning to end of a street in LA, we target the Ballona Creek bike path, a 7-mile long trail from Culver City to the Pacific Ocean. Of course, it wouldn't be complete without a cafe, so we first stop at a spot in West Adams and do some train spotting, then jump on one end of the Ballo...

Happy July 4th! On this Independence Day we cross the western frontier to a neighborhood called West Hills. And by western frontier I mean the Santa Monica mountains. JUNETEENTH RIDE: BRUCE'S BEACH

Juneteenth, or the day that commemorates the end of slavery in the United States, is a joyous day, but also one for reflection and perhaps to learn a bit more of this country's history. On this Juneteenth, we take a pleasant ride along the coast to Bruce's Beach, which had made quite the news in recent years. Good one Suzy. When I saw Hawthorne mentioned it reminded me of dining at Ed Debevics on Hawthorne Boulevard three times while we were over there 👍.
@ma_rin_49 glad I could bring back the memories 😊
I’ve done that Hawthorne climb. Steep and long. Well done!

You’ve completely missed the charm of Spaulding Square. You spent 80% of your time on or crossing Sunset. @arturk2021 hi Artur in Poland! I don't know what it looks like now, I haven't been since this video! Might be time to go back😊. It is free tho, that much I know!

The Ranch and its hiking trails will remain open during construction, but visitors will be diverted around the construction closure.

How's the battery life on the Bolt 2? I'm a big fan of the Bolt 1, but haven't upgraded to the color screen yet. How is your experience with it?
@nataszeon I was concerned about the battery life, too, given the color screen, but in my 3-3.5 hour ride it barely drained. I think it might've been in the upper 80%? I forget, but it didn't drain much and it charged really quickly. Nothing but positive experiences so far🤜🪵
That's another enjoyable video you've produced, is it Suzy or Susie? We did the full Universal Studio tour when we were over in California in 1987, we really enjoyed it and no doubt much has changed since that time. Looking forward to the next one.
