King Alfred - The Most Perfect Character in History
Alfred the Great believed he was given authority by God himself. This was not an excuse to abuse his power, though. Rather, he saw it as a responsibility to care for his people, setting the template for the ideal kingship. Here's how King Alfred became Alfred the Great.

Humans are violent, greedy and selfish. More often than not darker impulses prevails over moral values and ethical quotient. Humans are driven by a desire to control, exploit and dominate. History and the modern times are a testament to that. Violence, wars, bloodshed and destruction of environment are the after effects of this impulse.

Even from an Orthodox Christian perspective (pre-schism of 1054), There are many Great examples Western Rite Orthodox can look towards, such a rich christian tradition in the British isles (before the Latinization of the Faith). Same with St. Edward the Martyr of the Benedictine reform movement (which preached Christian Orthodoxy, so prayer, work, humility, communal life, Asceticism and Liturgy, fasting, monasticism, anti-Secularism).

Your authors are anti-Catholic protestants and atheists. The West grew from the unification of the revelation of Christianity with the thinking of the Greek philosophers by St. John the evangelist and flourished in The Catholic Church. The West is the greatest civilisation known to mankind because of the Logos of Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. The Incarnation created the west. The West began its decline with the attack on the Roman Catholic Church from the schism and destructive revolution of protestantism. If you want to save the West return to the one true faith of the Holy Roman Catholic Church funded by Jesus Christ Himself.

1:50 Correction: From my understanding, Arianism didn't teach that Jesus was just a created being, but that despite still being the divine Son, preexistent to the created world, his person and essence were distinct from the Father and as a being begotten by the Father and one through whom the Father creates the world, there must have been a time, even a time before the beginning of natural time, before which the Son existed and he, therefore, must be in subordination to the Father as they also believed the Holy Spirit is subordinate to the Son. Nicene Christianity taught (and still teaches) the tri-fold Godhead was not and can not be in subordination to itself, that to be begotten is to be uniquely distinct from but not to be created or made by the Father, and that though distinct in person, they are not distinct in essence but are all three co-existent, co-equal, and co-eternal beings of the same god.

So Anglos should view somebody else as the most perfect character in history? Strange how it would be okay for the English to esteem somebody of a different ethnicity as the greatest but they can’t do it for their own. Sounds like Anglo-hatred to me but that’s common. People tend to hate those superior to them.

videos like this one bring together marginals of all stripes who have no idea about architecture and stigmatize modern architecture, using past eras as an example.. if they saw what kind of shacks their ancestors lived in without water, sewerage, heating and electricity - they would tone down their ardor... if an architect does not indulge his ego - he will indulge the ego of his client (that's how it was), and if he does not indulge the ego of the client, then there will be no architecture at all)).. have you not thought about it? or do broilers not know how to think?))

I think another missing work is the antifederalist papers. Both the federalist and antifederalist papers where written in the news papers and was a public dialog that went back and forth tackling the question of whether New York should adopt the General Constitution. If I were to revise the set this works, and other economic works from authors like Mises Hayek and Henery Dunning Macleod. Oh and the bible, because the reasoning for it not being included in the first set is nolonger true. Whether or not you're religious, so many of the authors have been heavily influenced by it that have the context of it is important

The miter on the helm was likely just cloth, similar to ornate jousting helms of the Era. And no mention of "his red eminence" Cardinal Richelieu? Not medieval but certainly an outstanding commander, his capture of La Rochelle is genius. And going into the modern era clergy served in the French military in both world wars. An admiral in the French navy of WW2 and after was a Carmelite priest!

It's understandable how the post-Norman kings of England would feverntly follow anglo-Saxon saint cults. Even Richard II had the St Edward cross on his arms. Henry VI of England, once crowed king of France in the Notre-Dame had posters put on the wall of the church showing his bloodline from St Edmund and St Louis. Henry III named his son after Saint Edward the confessor. King John followed the saint cult of Saint Wulfstan. The rebel barons during the first barons war, used the Jewelled shrine of St Edmund at bury st edmunds at a base for their campaign.

Not to mention that King St. Alfred personally translated four works from Latin into Old English in love for the mind and soul of his people, essentially forming the first English literary canon, which yet today should be utilized in the education and formation of old and young alike. These works are the first third of the Psalter, St. Augustine's Soliloquies, St. Boethius' Consolation of Philosophy, and the Pastoral Rule of St. Gregory the Great which is mentioned in this video. St. Alfred commissioned many other translations, including St. Gregory's Dialogues, and would have been behind many more had he not reposed in the Lord so early in his life. May he ever intercede for cultural restoration in the English-speaking world and abroad, and may we be worthy of his prayers to Jesus Christ, our King and our God.
