*EPISODE 49: ENTICE THE DICE & DON'T PLAY NICE* is my first look at Tonga Bonga, which was originally from 1998 and has been reprinted by Playte in 2024. This board game is designed by one of my favorite designers of all time, Stefan Dorra. I have been trying to find a copy of the original Tonga Bonga since 2019 with no luck, but now that Playte sent me this review copy, I can finally discover this hidden gem & make it a permanent part of my game collection. Tonga Bonga is a _very_ light game from a rules standpoint, but it has some sneaky depth that is not immediately apparent until you play a couple times. Players are trying to earn the most money by sailing their ships around the map & setting up camps on the islands. However, to get movement, you will be bribing your opponents in hopes of getting their best dice. The bidding/bribing system is unlike anything I've ever experienced in a game, and I find that system fascinating. So just because it's a super light game doesn't mean it's boring. It's quite the opposite, actually. That dice placement system creates some great player interaction, and that is just enough to keep me returning to Tonga Bonga over and over!

    First of all thank you for another amazing video and explanation! I am glad to report that I have been able to reach the designer (Andreas Stedling) and that he kindly replied to our questions. He replied to me in German, and I have his permission to forward his replies: 1. Yes, you are allowed to take the same bonus tile twice, and use them, but it’s not always purposeful 2. Only unlocked bonus tiles count for endgame scoring. 3. There are only four houses included in the box (1. Edition) because the fifth house is not needed, as it means End of Game (sudden death). Btw. the second edition has 5 houses and player screens. Glad I could be of some help. Please keep up the good work with your channel!!

    Just wondering how you decide what sets to play with in a game session. Im steadily buying the expansions and your video is the best on UA-cam about dominion and its expansions.

    • @undiscovered_games
      @undiscovered_games 21 годину тому

      Thank you! I am so glad you found my video helpful! It kind of depends how we choose. Whenever we first get a new expansion, we try some of the suggested mixes in the back of the rulebook. That just helps familiarize us with the new expansions. But most often, we use the free Dominion randomizer app. Just search in your app store; I think there are a couple different ones to choose from. Anyway, with the app, you can simply select which sets you want to use, and it will randomly choose the setup for you. OR... sometimes we will choose which sets we want, and then just choose a certain number of cards from each box. We just shuffle the blue-backed randomizer cards and select them randomly. Hope that helps! By the way, I have received the latest expansion Rising Sun, but I have not tried it yet. I hope to update my video once I get a few plays in! Cheers!

    I still don't get the point of the tavern; isn't it the same as if the workers are already in your supply and ready to be deployed?

    • @undiscovered_games
      @undiscovered_games 3 дні тому

      Thanks for the comment! The tavern makes it so that your elite artisans cannot be moved after activating them. It basically makes you wait an extra turn to use those & helps you stay organized with the order of operations. At 18:40, there's an example. Yellow had to put their elite artisan back to the tavern after using it. _Then_ they got to place/move a worker. If that worker would've been in their personal supply, then they would've been allowed to place it by playing cards. However, since that worker was in the tavern, they could _only_ move/place the 1 worker that was left on the board. Once you retrieve your workers from the tavern, they are now available for use, but you might not place a worker that round. You might end up waiting till the next round due to cards you have, or due to the other players' positions. Hope that helps!

    This content is fantastic, since there is already a lot of channels that review the newest and most popular games. Just so you know, I've bought this game and am looking forward to playing it this weekend. Keep up the excellent work.

Simultaneously, I am usually blown away by the gems that are buried and forgotten. The idea that such awesome games could be totally lost forever is what motivates me to give them the video content they originally deserved!! That being said, I've probably tried about 10 games to every 1 that's worth featuring, so it's a labor of love 😅 Welcome to the channel! Prosperity is the ultimate example of the dumbing down of games that has been happening for years now. It started with games like Caverna (a much easier, dumbed down version of Agricola) and continues to this day with games like Dune Uprising. Prosperity is right along that trend, giving players an easier time. Get more stuff with less effort. Just vomit resources and rewards. You get a car and YOU get a car and everyone gets more money and points without diluting their deck. Just good fun all around without thinking too much.

    • @undiscovered_games
      @undiscovered_games 5 днів тому

      Thanks for the comment! That's one way to look at it, I guess. First, I absolutely agree about the dumbing down of games in general. That's the whole point of my channel focusing on older games, _because_ I cringe at the new wave of lifeless soulless games being pumped out in rapid succession nowadays, games with zero player interaction, games that hold your hand the entire time, etc. See Yellow & Yangtze vs. Tigris & Euphrates. Same game, but Y&Y has nowhere near the depth of T&E. They sucked the life out of it & made it appeal to a mass audience. Same with the 2nd edition of A Study in Emerald. I could go on and on in agreement with you on that topic, so I encourage you to watch my other videos because Dominion is not the typical topic of discussion here! Caverna is another great example (although I do not like Agricola or Caverna, personally haha). But to me, Prosperity does not fit that description of dumbing down. Prosperity gives you more of a player-driven pace & more reacting to what your opponents are doing, which I always love in a game. With Prosperity, if I have $9 to spend, do I buy a Province or a Platinum and save for a bigger payout later? Or if players are loading up on Platinums, maybe I can rush the end by sticking to Provinces & combos while they're wasting turns loading up their deck. That's a very oversimplified example, but that's my general feeling about it. Not to mention, I _love_ the cards that let you trash a card worth X and get something worth X+2 or whatever. Trashing a Platinum to get a Colony is super satisfying and a very valid strategy. So to me, just because Prosperity feels more "satisfying" doesn't mean it's dumbed down. It's the same way I view most of Stefan Feld's "point salad" games. I believe you can have a game that simultaneously feels good to play, but at the same time still requires skill & proper strategy to win. Finally, my last defense of Prosperity is I find it adds more length to a 2p game. We play most of our Dominion at 2p, so I enjoy that the game usually lasts a bit longer and lets you build your deck longer at 2p. That's why we always play with Platinums and Colonies. I can certainly see your argument, but I respectfully disagree in this case. I'm Team Prosperity all day every day! I appreciate your comment! In fact, based on your comment, I think you'll agree with most of my taste in games, so I encourage you to check out my other videos! Thanks for adding to the discussion!

    • @ioannispaxinos5171
      @ioannispaxinos5171 5 днів тому

      @@undiscovered_games Well, I disagree on Agricola, it's amazing. But yeah I can see how our inclinations might align. I get what you're saying about prosperity. I guess I enjoy not having as many options. I like to suffer. BTW I love it when people call Stephan Feld games "point salad." It's a brilliant diversion Feld uses in his games and it has fooled so many people since Vasel coined that term. They're kind of missing the whole point. When you get points for EVERYTHING, it's the same as getting points for nothing, except (like you said) it feels much better. But in any game, it doesn't matter if you end with 10 points or 1000. What matters is that you end up with at least 1 more point than everyone else. And if you look at Feld games closely, you'll notice that the actions required to build an engine and win the game in the long run actually give you far fewer points than other actions that seem juicier at the time.

    • @undiscovered_games
      @undiscovered_games 5 днів тому

      @@ioannispaxinos5171 yes, I completely agree on the point salad thing. Point salad is not a bad thing if the game design is refined (which Feld’s games are). I don’t always like point salad, either. For example, one of my all time fav games is Shakespeare because every single point is such a struggle, and it often comes down to 1 point at the end. Or if you like to suffer, Feld’s In The Year of the Dragon is one of my favs too. Definitely not point salad and definitely punishing as can be! So I can see why you like Agricola. I don’t deny it’s an amazing design, but I don’t enjoy it in my current game group or my current stage of life. My biggest gripe is it’s way too long and I feel like I am at work when I play it. It was in my collection for 6 years. I only played about 5-6 times, but ultimately I decided that if a game is going to last 3-4 hours, it needs to be fun for me and my group (see Caylus). Caylus gives me a similar worker placement brain crunch with zero text on the cards & a smoother pace. With Agricola, I got really tired of reading all the cards & explaining them to everyone at the table constantly. So ultimately it’s more of a “me” thing than the game itself. These days, I am more into simpler games with tough choices. I love lots of stuff from Knizia/Dorra/Schacht/Kramer/Colovini/Dorn/etc. Uwe is a fantastic designer, but as the designated game night referee & rules lawyer & teacher… his games are exhausting 😰. Thanks for the reply, and hopefully you didn’t take offense to any of my comments! You clearly have lots of knowledge and good taste in gaming, and that’s who I love to chat with! Cheers!

    • @ioannispaxinos5171
      @ioannispaxinos5171 5 днів тому

      @undiscovered_games Oh I was joking. Of course I took no offense of your dislike of Agricola just because it's one of my favs. To each their own. We must have fun otherwise what's the point? Even the dumbing down of games is a consequence of the hobby expanding so games have to reflect more average skills. Take dominion's point tokens for example. The whole notion of the game, it's core conflict is that buying points makes your deck worse. So if you're not careful you ruin your engine. Enter point tokens. They Don't go in your deck. Just buy as many as you like and keep the engine rolling smoothly. A classic dumb down mechanic. Just like saving coins for later. Fail to make a smooth income engine? No worries, instead of wasting your turn you just save some money for later.

    • @undiscovered_games
      @undiscovered_games 3 дні тому

      @@ioannispaxinos5171 Thanks, I just wanted to make sure 😅 Yeah, I know what you mean about point tokens; it defeats the whole purpose of building a good deck. The same could be said about the coin tokens too, I guess. That's why I love Dominion, though; it has so many different things to explore, and what's nice is if you don't like a certain part, you can just omit it and still enjoy the game. What's weird is I look at Dominion completely differently from the rest of the games I usually review and enjoy. Dominion is like a "comfort game" for my wife and me since it was our gateway game into the hobby and we still play it so much 12 years later. So I guess I don't analyze Dominion as deeply as I typically analyze games... like there's no way it can be perfect because there are so many different combinations of cards. Some games are bangers; others are flops. It just depends on that random setup. But analyzing that setup and crafting a new plan each time is what keeps me coming back for more. So I guess to oversimplify my "Dominion Opinion," it is really as simple as this: I enjoy the parts of Dominion that feel good (lots of money, point tokens, coin tokens, etc.). I don't enjoy the things that don't make me feel good (potions, debt, things that muck up the flow). Not my typical criteria for a game review 😂😂 But from a design perspective, I totally see your point. Anyway, I'll stop rambling. Thanks again for the great discussion!

    Monza? My 5 year old grandson wants to play Heat! What am I supposed to do? Say no to learning good games? Okay, Monza actually looks pretty decent now that you've explained it. Maybe I should compromise and get Camel Up. Any tips for precocious preschool gamers? He's teaching me about Minecraft. And don't get me started on his mastery of the dice game Spots. That's actually not bad for kids in my opinion.

    • @undiscovered_games
      @undiscovered_games 5 днів тому

      Haha, I guess I was making this video for a more generalized crowd that's looking for alternatives to Candy Land. When you are a gamer, you tend to start your kids early in heavier games than most kids would enjoy. For example, my daughter was playing Kingdom Builder at age 3, and her favorite game currently is Blue Lagoon. I would consider those to be more for ages 8+, but I _love_ both of those as an adult. They are actually both in my top 50, so maybe take a look at Kingdom Builder or Blue Lagoon for your precocious preschooler! Another racing game my daughter likes is Downforce by Wolfgang Kramer, which is a little lighter than Heat but still has more depth than Monza. But who am I kidding... I still _love_ Monza!! It has no strategy, but it's fun! Camel Up and Ready Set Bet are also great for kids!

    • @grantfraser5430
      @grantfraser5430 5 днів тому

      @@undiscovered_games Yeah, I had a bad introductory game of Downforce at a convention where I was blocked almost every turn so I've never had the desire that most people seem to have to play this game. Kingdom Builder at 3. That's impressive. My grandson enjoyed Azul so much (at 4) that I gave him my used copy that I received for free. Then I read an article about it giving me an appreciation for the "interactive" part of the game. You know, the mean part. I guess it's too late to take it back, I'll have to get my own copy. There's another $300 because I'll end up wanting all the editions and expansions.

    • @undiscovered_games
      @undiscovered_games 5 днів тому

      @@grantfraser5430 haha Downforce can be brutal, especially with more than 4p. I guess I like that game because you still have a chance to win if you bet properly. But yeah, it’s definitely punishing at times. I haven’t got to try Heat yet, but I definitely want to soon! I say Kingdom Builder at age 3… meaning she at least grasped how to play & got some BASIC strategies, but it’s not like she was actually proficient 😂 But she at least understood drawing the card and placing 3 houses on the matching terrain. But now at age 7, she holds her own at Kingdom Builder! Azul at age 4 is awesome! I’ve found that a big barrier with kids & games is attention span more than grasping the concepts… so even though they can understand bigger games, they often gravitate to the simpler ones because they can’t last more than 15-20 minutes at 1 game. Honestly, I’m kinda that way as an adult too. I understand how to play games like Agricola or Lisboa, but I choose not to 😂 There are just so many awesome simpler games to explore!

    Never heard of this game before but my mind kept connecting to another game that plays entirely differently. San Marco by Alan Moon. I always think of San Marco as the game that got me hooked on modern board games. I thought it was pure genius that my young daughter could play it because there was no reading required. I had never seen a game that was language independent. Doge came out the year before San Marco but I don't see any connection except for theme.

    • @undiscovered_games
      @undiscovered_games 7 днів тому

      San Marco is great! I love the "I Cut You Choose" mechanism. I have not checked, but San Marco could very well be the game that invented that mechanism. It does have a very similar game board, but otherwise yes, it's a totally different game. There's a Reiner Knizia game called King's Road that is probably most similar to Doge. But it's still quite different. Doge really stands alone in my collection. It's always a hit when we show new players too.

Andreas Stedding is rapidly becoming a favorite designer. Also saw the review of Kogge, that looks great also. Right now I vwould say Firenze is my favorite Andreas Stedding game but I would like to do more exploring of Hansa Teutonica which holds a special place in my heart because of the SU&SD skit at the end of the review. Obviously Hansa Teutonica is amazing, and that game is my favorite game ever, so it's hard to beat that one (I know exactly the SUSD skit you're referring to haha). But I do like a lot of his games. One I did _not_ care for is Norenberc. In my opinion, that one is not worth your time. It looks really cool, but the gameplay felt very shallow and uninteresting to me. Maybe I missed something, but it just didn't grab me like his other games. Plus the Norenberc scoring is completely random and makes no sense haha. Thanks again for all the comments!

    I'm definitely not a party game person at a game night but I would join in at a family gathering. I don't think of social deduction games as party games, they're just games with large player counts (like Advanced Civilization). But I did intentionally buy a party game after having so much fun at a convention. I don't even know how you score the game, I don't care. Its just too much fun and it's all the party game I vwill ever need. I will always steer people to strategy oriented games but if they absolutely have to have a party game, fine but don't go overboard, buy just one.

But when the holidays roll around, it's pretty much party games :( Most of these in the video were in my collection before I really got into the hobby, but I kept a few. I would definitely like to see the rondel idea used in other games either as is or with another twist. Who knows, maybe some of my game design ideas will bear some fruit now that I'm retired. Caesar Seize Rome in 20 Minutes? That one is a very solid game, but the graphic design really bugged me in that one. I ultimately decided if I wanted something similar, I would just play Knizia's Samurai at 2p. But Caesar is a super elegant area control game for 2p. I also own 8 games on this list and had Merlin on my short list for a while but haven't picked it up. Yet, that might change again seeing it on your list. Unfortunately, you've got your work cut out for you convincing me of El Grande. I'll have to take another look, try to see what I'm missing. About Hansa Teutonica, yeah I guess the theme is absent but I'm able to immerse myself in it because I learned some of the back story. Back in the day it was a real entity and for a short while was more powerful than most countries at the time. And the name Hansa persists in modern companies. Have you heard of a German airline called Lufthansa? I forget other examples but I thought it was a fascinating story, recommend checking it out if you have an hour or two to kill.

      That's awesome!! Very interesting info about Hansa Teutonica. I think the theme probably seems absent to me because I have not studied the backstory whatsoever haha. Perhaps I should take a deeper look into it! I also enjoy Michael Schacht's game Hansa as well, so maybe it's time to do some learnin! I bet it would improve the gameplay on both of those games if I knew more of the backstory. Merlin is always the game that surprises most people, but I always stand behind my love for it. To me, it's a _slightly_ better version of Bora Bora because it is less lengthy & less complex. I don't mind the complexity of Bora Bora, but a punishing dice roll in Merlin doesn't seem as painful as it can in Bora Bora. But similar to Bora Bora, you need to spend some turns investing in stuff in anticipation of those bad dice rolls. I love when a game allows you to weigh playing risky to maybe get a leg up on your opponents vs. playing safe and planning for bad dice rolls. Plus, the 2 different area control sections of Merlin get really tense at 4p. Anyway, if you enjoy dice games like we do, I think you'd definitely enjoy it. El Grande has a high nostalgia factor for me. I think I found it back in 2015, which was still fairly early in my journey in this hobby. And we play it so much still, it's hard to take it out of my Top Ten. It's so smooth and snappy nowadays for us. I love that it doesn't take forever to play. Still, I will say El Grande is teetering on my Top 10 because Kreta/Sardegna might very well replace it as my favorite area control game. I still feel a close connection to El Grande, but I _really_ love Kreta. Thanks again for watching & commenting! It's always awesome to find other gamers with great taste in gaming!

      I do have Das Letzte Paradies and would love to make a video episode on that one someday soon. I've only played it once and I really liked it, but I definitely want to get a better feel for it before I make video on it. I'll consider bumping it up on my list of episodes to make!!!

    I think empty pile end game trigger = number of players seems like natural scaling. That's my house rule if I'm able to pick up this game. Also, anything wrong with equal turns? Maybe reverse turn order as a final tie-breaker.

    • @undiscovered_games
      @undiscovered_games 15 днів тому

      I really like that idea for scaling the game. Very simple and makes sense to me! I guess I never even thought of finishing out the final round so each player gets equal turns. However, there is sometimes a strategy to be had by ending the game early by emptying out a stack to rush the game end... so maybe that's why the designer chose not to give everyone equal turns?? It would be interesting to try equal turns, though, for sure. Great observation!

    I just found your podcast yesterday, watched all 3 videos on (probably) midsed 2-player games. So many good ones. The only game I have that definitely belongs on your list is Babel but you got that one already. Other thoughts I had were Boop and Kamisado. Both are fairly new. I think Boop is overlooked though. Silly name and it's just tic tac toe with a couple of extra rules. Overpriced and not marketed well. But turns out it's a solid game. Highly recommended for chess players who can see a couple of moves ahead but not 7 or 8 moves ahead. I don't know if Kamisado is undiscovered but it definitely got people looking every time we played it at our games store. I think Revolution of 1828 is great, would love to try it but my gaming partner is more inclined to choose multiplayer solitaire games for 4 or 5 to play with just the two of us. Jambo is a game I would buy despite her disinterest but it's out of print. Who do I talk to about that? Have you done a video of multiplayer games that play best at two players?

    • @undiscovered_games
      @undiscovered_games 15 днів тому

      Hey thanks for watching! I haven’t played Boop but I’ve heard a lot of good stuff about it. Did you catch my video on Stone Henge? It’s Knizia’s version of tic tac toe. Without knowing anything about Boop, I’m curious if that compares to Boop at all? Babel is so cool! Love that one. Haven’t played since I made that video over a year ago 😩 Regarding multiplayer games that play well at 2p, we honestly don’t play a lot of those. Most of our gaming is 4p, and if it’s just my wife and me, we usually stick to 2p-exclusive games. So I don’t know if I have enough to make a list. That being said, we do enjoy Panamax at 2p, which is a heavy economic euro. I also did videos on Milestones and Horus, both of which we enjoy at 2p as well. But I’ll definitely keep that in mind, as I think it would make a great video topic!! Thanks again for watching and welcome to the channel! 🍻

      @@undiscovered_games I will probably watch all your videos over time, slowly. I just checked out Stonehenge but it doesn't make me think of tic tac toe. Interesting game though and I will gather some spare parts or pen and paper it for a try. I have a smart grandchild to use as a guinea pig for play testing. Comparison to Boop. Stonehenge is short and deterministic while Boop can be played defensively to prolong the game. It may still be deterministic but it's harder to see. Both are 100% open information. I wonder if Stonehenge suffers from first player advantage since that player is also first to play their last piece with it being known what the opponent's last play will be. This allows them to possibly claim up to 5 or 6 green circles at once. Wait, no that's not relevant since there are only 15 green circles so the race factor is nullified. I think the biggest difference is claiming of lines in Stonehenge whereas in Boop, it's not over until a person can set up two potential wins that can't both be blocked. Boop is literally a three in a row game on a 6x6 board but several pieces move around each turn so getting three in a row can be tricky. You can even set up two potential lines and have them both blocked in one turn. And to top it off, although you always have 8 pieces you don't start the game with the pieces you need to win with. You have to earn those by getting 1-3 non winning three in a rows first. Or get all your pieces on the board, which is also easier said than done as your opponent ( and sometimes yourself ) are regularly knocking pieces off the board to start over again. Halloween edition recommended since it has the expansion piece but not necessary. In fact, but you didn't hear it from me, Boop can be constructed at home also. The rules say to use the bottom of the box as your board but I never enjoyed that. My conclusion is that there isn't really a comparison, they are two different games entirely. Neither is better, they are both good filler games. Stonehenge is shorter and simpler, probably easily programmable for perfect computer play. I'm curious what that is but that would take some fun out of the game. I think Boop is deeper but I can see it easily frustrating some people also making it harder to get to the table.

    We play a lot of 2 player games, so I very much appreciate this series. The only one out of these I'm familiar with is Dynasties/Sun Tzu. I happened upon S.T. at a great little game shop nearby that has a decent amount of older out of print games. I haven't played it yet, but after researching the game, I knew this would be my kind of experience. All three of the other games shown here look very interesting as well. Since, you haven't revealed the two remaining games that you couldn't fit into this video, and I don't believe you have reviewed them on previous videos, I highly recommend Knizia's version of Carcassonne....The Castle, and a great little card game called Trambahn. Both of these immediately shot up to some of my favorite games after just a couple of plays. I guess I'll just have to wait and see if either of these will be in a future video. 😀

    *RULES WRINKLES!* In Shanghaien, there are 2 things to clarify. First, when I said “switch start players,” I failed to explain _why_ we switch start players. Whoever did _not_ end the previous round becomes the new start player. In my example, red ended the round, so blue becomes the start player for the next round. 2nd is an interpretation of the rules. From multiple great discussions in the comments below, we have established that there is likely more than 1 English rulebook in circulation, which is 1 source of confusion. Also, there are some discrepancies between the original German rules and the English translation. Finally, this game apparently has an online implementation somewhere, which I have not tried. I am not sure which rules the online game uses, but that could also be the reason for some of the differing rules interpretations. 1 kind UA-camr below commented that the start player is supposed to roll the dice FIRST and _then_ choose the orientation of the cards 1-6 or 6-1. The way I read the rule in my rulebook: It just says the start player gets to choose the orientation, but it doesn’t specifically say “after rolling.” However, it does discuss the card order _after_ it talks about the rolling action. I’d say the way it’s written is very vague and confusing in my rulebook. It should clearly say “after rolling, determine the order of the cards.” Still, after reading the rules again, it seems vague to me. But if you’re supposed to choose that _after_ rolling, that means we’ve been playing it slightly wrong. And I’m not sure how I feel about the start player getting a significant advantage like that. According to another commenter, the German rules state that _each_ player determines the order after their first roll. So the 1 card _could_ be different for each player, which would be super interesting for the tiebreaking rule, and it would also remove the advantage of the start player getting to choose. Finally, another commenter said his rulebook did not explain the purpose of the wooden figure, and also it had a totally different explanation of the tiebreaker/neighboring rule. So in conclusion, read your rulebooks carefully and read through the comments section to see how you want to play the game. I am not sure which way to play is the best (or which way most closely resembles the designer's original intent), so I would encourage you to try them all! Fascinating rules wrinkles!!!! Thanks to all who chimed in!!!

    Another great roundup, UG! Also another timely synchronicity with The Coldness, as Shanghaien has been hot over there recently. I've been playing it a lot lately, and I love it more each time. For another great 2p Schacht, try out Rat Hot! It's right up your alley. One correction I'll point out is that the tiebreaker in Shanghaien is actually number of dice, not pips. Pips are the 2nd tiebreaker. Small issue, but it can make a difference in the low end. I'm also a huge fan of Sun Tzu/Dynasties. The Cousins' War is new to me, but no surprise there considering the newness. Looks really interesting, especially the battle mechanism.

    • @undiscovered_games
      @undiscovered_games 16 днів тому

      That's really weird I just happened to put Shanghaien in there. I wasn't aware you all were discussing it! It was meant to be I guess ha!! Regarding the rule, my rulebook clearly says this: "If both players added the same number of dice to a card, then the player _with the higher sum on the dice added to the two neighboring cards_ receives the card. If there is still a tie, then the card is removed from the game." I don't see anything about a first or second tiebreaker. Maybe I have a different version of the game or something? Might be worth checking into. Regardless, thanks for the comment and for watching as always! I appreciate the support, and that's really cool you know Sun Tzu. Great game! I think you'd love The Cousins War. The bluffing with the dice rolling is so much fun.

    • @undiscovered_games
      @undiscovered_games 15 днів тому

      @@Centerhead haha yeah those wooden figures are pretty pointless LOL. I think it’s fascinating there are so many discrepancies in the rules! Does your rulebook clearly say when/who chooses the cards in the row being 1-6 or 6-1? We had a long discussion in one of the other comments on that! 3 different interpretations: Either the start player rolls 1st then chooses, or the start player chooses before rolling, or each player chooses their own numbers for the cards after rolling. I find all the interpretations to be valid & interesting in their own way. 🤷🏻‍♂️
