In this Video I diagnose a F83 2015 BMW M4 convertible, customer brought the vehicle in because it was making a strange whistling /howling noise in the engine compartment. I found that the crankcase vent valve is the valve cover is bad and replaced the valve cover.@koolfredsbimmertech5617

    great content! But, not sharing some important details in a DIY is just not really helping to your channel and the community. Yes, your're offerinfg some great help and How to's/DIYs, but not sharing some important steps or tools used to remove a very known challenging part that's difficult ; are you really helping your followers/community? It's your channel and you do as you wish, and but keep doing great content. If you're lookng to see your subscribers double/ triple, you may want to rething your approach. Again, I appreciate your channel and great the content but you're leaving out some important details..

    Job well done. I just disconnected the J pipe on the charge cooler and moved it out of the way, but full removal is definitely the proper way like you did 👍

      @@angiesutton4060 Many parts are from major supplier’s like Bosch, Mahle & Trw to name a few. But when u get parts from the dealer it’s considered a genuine part.

      @@Ameratsify Yes! Belt has to come off, this one has the horse shoe style belt tensioner.

    Mannn, i just replaced the upper and the leak got worse and found it was this hose now!! So now i gotta order and fight to replace the return, wish you were near by to help!!! 😂 thanks for the video though!!

      Update lol... after more research seem this engine once one hose starts they all will need to be replaced so called it in to the extended warranty. It is now in the bmw shop, fingers crossed 🤞 I get it back soon!

      @@filippebarros you’re supposed to take off the pipe. but if u turn and flip the line u can snake it out.

    thank for upload. how did you resolve the issue of the foot well module code. ? did you replace it if you can link the video. The parking distance module(PDM) error code that you had ,how did you resolve. it. DIY would be very informative. I have the same codes on my X85 , 2011 ...

      @@mohammadhayatca3244 Thanks! That was almost 2 yrs ago. I don’t remember the frm code. The front Pdc sensor wiring harness ended up fixing the Pdc issue after I tried the sensor. I do have 2 short videos on the channel for the Pdc sensor and harness.

    I did this job this last weekend. A lot of the wiggling the first pipe out can be done easier from under the car. You can reach through the wheel well and through the space by the cat converter.

      So, are you saying working with jacks or on a lift? I'm on jacks on it's not a lot of clearance. Did you use a long pry bar or something? Do we have to remove the bottom feedline? TIA

      @richcruz8924 Yes you have to remove the bottom feed line first. You can snake your arm above the cat converter and through the passenger wheel well

    Even if you have a warranty with these cars I wouldn't recommend, just had the same problem lucky I had a warranty, car dont have enough miles to be having that problem

    I'm performing this exact job on my X3, any tips on removing the intake manifold? I removed the screws and everything but it wont come out. Also, how much did you torque the oil housing screws and the the screws of the upper radiator hose inlet? Thanks!

      oil filter housing & coolant outlet bolts are 8Nm. there 5 bolts in intake and 2 support screws E10. there are some coolant hose and brakes to watch out for. May have to jiggle the intake a bit to get it to come out .

      @koolfredsbimmertech5617 Was finally able to get it out. The back part towards driving compartment wouldn't come out. Unscrewed a hose in the back and used angled pry bar and pliers to help. The visual you provided in the video of the inderside of the manifold was enormous help, realized I need to disconnect some of the hoses underneath too. Thanks a ton!

      @@koolfredsbimmertech5617 By the way, I found oil cooler and the upper radiator hose flange that you changed in these videos made out of aluminum and much cheaper on Amazon. Oil cooler was like $75 and the flange $20 when you include the Permatex RTV. They will never break, and if I ever have to replace something it is the gaskets which are only $20.

    How's the car doing? I am thinking of picking up an E70 with the N55. I have an E38 740i, did the timing chain guides, suspensio etc myself, so I am mechanically able to fix this car. I just don't want to have to dump thousands into the motor.

      @@PlymitBoy The E70 X5 is still rolling. The N55 is the best engine option in the E70.

      @@PlymitBoy I’ve seen maybe 2 of those at my shop. A N54 & N55. To prevent- best practice is to pour oil in the oil filter housing before housing the filter cap on. Around 1/2 qt

    How many miles does this particular X3 have? I have a 19 X3 with 71k miles and I’ll be doing this at about 80k. Also did you have to move the transmission cooler out of the way or were you able to get to the lower bolts without removing it? Great video!

      @@RKSAINT This one had 90k. The trans cooler has 3 bolts u just loosen them up, trans cooler stays just has to be moved out the way slightly& 1 small coolant hose to disconnect.

    What type of sensor is inside the tank? Do you know the ohm values with okay coolant level?

      @@eduardocoello1909 I’m starting to believe the aftermarket ones have issues with the level sensor. It’s still an occasional problem on the car I worked on. We’re probably going back with a factory one from the dealer.

      @koolfredsbimmertech5617 thank you, but is it plug and play? Or do i have to clear a code? I have a scanner and do not get any code because of low coolant, only on the dashboard of the bmw.. I changed mine today and still got the wrong reading :/

      @@eduardocoello1909 it’s plug and play. The aftermarket and seam to have intermittent issues setting off the low coolant ck message falsely.

    When to replace the thrust arm? My x5 has noise when hit the potholes, or bad road condition, last change of thrust arm 10k km ago

      @@mydc2200 It sounds like your struts or the strut mounts. The insulators wear out on the strut mounts.

    Where did you drain the coolant from? I have the same car but no one seems to show the coolant being drained or where. Is it the lowest hose on passenger side of the radiator?

      were you able to get it bled? also where did you drain the coolant from before performing the job?
