1941 Cadillac owned by the Duke of Windsor
Переглядів 28 тис.9 років тому
This is the 1941 Cadillac, built by Harley Earl and Alfred P. Sloan, for Edward VIII, the former King of England. Edward and his American bride, Wallis Simpson, loved the car so much they named it "The Duchess." Missing since 1952, I found the car in a Texas barn and have spent the past 10 years researching and restoring it to its original glory. Every nut and bolt has been painstakingly return...

Very beautifull and elegant 🇺🇲
The best of the best!
The camera man suck
Question: At 1:44 there is a lever on the door panel shown. My aunt had a late 50's Caddy and as a kid I could never figure out what it did. After all these years, can you solve the mystery for me?
I’ve seen better.
The white house actually had two of these.
unique and gorgeous!
Charles should've taken his great-uncle's move and stepped aside for William to ascend to the throne, as Charles, a divorced adulterer, married to a divorced adulterer is not morally fit to succeed Elizabeth, the Great.
It was not owned by the King of England, as he had abdicated the throne 5 years prior to 1941. The King of England was his brother.
Doesn’t this promise to be delicious. I’ll be trying it as soon as I get the liquor you suggested.
Wish Cadillac can come back with such Glorious products again They made such prestigious Cars , desirable with a touch of class
What was the difference between the 1957 and 1958 model? I thought the 1957 model had single headlight and the duals was introduced in 1958.
Not a very good reproduction. Flagstaffs are incorrect, handle grips mounted to windshield are incorrect in size, shape and placement, doors need to be indented to allow more room for agents, running boards are too wide, and compartment behind the front section for storing weapons is missing.
Better than yours, oh that's right, you don't have one.
In the late 1950s , he also had an elongated wheel based , Cadillac shooting break. ( what I believe people today refer to as an estate car and if elongated - stretched ! ). It was a monstrously ugly thing but of practical use . The Duke had a great affection for things American because of his wife and why not I say ! And on another note , I’m still undecided as to whether he , Edward was a traitor or just a wretchedly stupid , naive and misguided fool whom wanted to avoid another cataclysmic war at all costs. I think he was somewhat naive and easily duped by Germany at the time but he certainly felt things keenly and admired how Hitler had pulled Germany out of poverty and created work for the people. That was admirable to a degree.?..Until we discovered what was really going on . Hitler’s vile and sadistic murderous mania , followed by too many of his henchmen of the same ilk and I hope that will never be forgotten nor forgiven . I won’t accept their defence that they were merely “ following orders “ . Lest we forget .
Friggin awesome caddie
How beautiful. It fits the neighborhood perfectly.
Had the l pleasure of seeing this beauty last night. Thanks, Steve !!
Set out the white cream dinner jacket and best knit shimmering ladies gowns. It's a night on the town!👍👏✌️
Is it actually real?
It's amazing what you can buy at a government auction.
very nice color
Damn it, we support the criminal in Moscow. Putin can only be defeated if we implement an immediate energy-saving lockdown. No more private trips. Heating only at night and only one room with light and electricity, you can simply set that at the fuse box....Cities could, for example, switch off every second street light and companies could switch off their neon signs. We can initially limit driving to pure business trips and hospital trips, etc...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Stop driving now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Whatever became of this car, Morgan? Such a beauty! Love the color!
Firstly, since the original car, this limo, was placed into service in 1956, it should be known as the "IKE" limo, or 'Eisenhower' limo --- NOT JFK. .... Secondly, Jack Kennedy was actually a Packard man when he was a U. S. Senator in the 1950s, though is much more known or associated with the "X-100" stretch LINCOLN limosine, with styling that began in the '61 models, right about the time that JFK began his term. ... Let's be fair and accurate.
Men are gone, and fire inherits nothing but ashes.
What's the difference between the 57 & 58? I would've thought this was a 58.
Would like to have seen them operate the convertible top ~~
Where can I get one!!!!
This was first, President Eisenhower's official car. In the Kennedy administration, it was a support car
Good gracious this car huge!!!! In all these years I had no idea this car was this large and spacious!!!! November 22, 1963...what an amazing artifact of American history
Pretty spot on looking like the original except the original didn't have rear fender skirts. Nice to see it had the correct motor in it rather than a small block Chevy or a modern Cadillac Northstar engine.
They were worried the skirts would add extra weight.
@@stevecarlson6462 but not worried about 700 pounds of guns and ammo not to mention secret service agents .. the drive train was beefed up Hotter cam in engine same for the Lincoln and other performance bits
Thank you for sharing. Nj-usa
Gorgeous
I love Americans antique cars 🌹❤️🌹
THAT IS ONE STUNNING LOOKING CAR.
That's the same car that was behind JFK's assassination's vehicle
1956 Ike had it First when it was NEW and why did They Put JFK in the TITLE ?
I’ll take it. Sweet
I never did like the looks of this car or the GM trucks of that year, they are ugly and gross looking.
THIS CAR SHOULD HAVE BEEN RETIRED AT THE HENRY FORD MUSEUM , BEHIND THE JFK LIMO , THEY BELONG TOGETHER FOR HISTORY PURPOSES !!!! IF ONLT THE CARS COULD TALK , WE WOULD HAVE KNOWN IT ALL !!!!!
This was a REPLICA. NOT ACTUALLY USED BY THE GOVERNMENT.
John F. Kennedy had a Lincoln retarted sped
Beautiful ride classy old school Ride. But it sounds like a Locamotive.
If l'm not mistaken LBJ was riding in this car when JFK was killed in Dallas. Dwight Eisenhower used the word "cruel" to describe the killing. Imagine how Jackie Kennedy suffered. Her bodyguard wrote a book about the day JFK was killed, it was heart wrenching.
LBJ was in a white Continental a few cars further back. This was a SS car.
LBj was in a regular rental Lincoln, behind halfback in the Dallas motorcade. So it was the third car in line.
No that's not correct.
Yes LBJ was in the white Lincoln behind follow up car like mentioned before!
It has that Rolls-Royce look a decade before Rolls-Royce did...
My uncle had a late 50's Cadillac. At the base of the driver-side pillar there was a slide mechanism that moved horizontally. As a kid I could never figure out what it did -- there was no label on it. I noticed your Eldo has it. Slake my curiosity after all these years -- what the hell does it do?
Fantastic. Thank you for sharing this video.
Nice car but Edward was not the King of England when he owned that car. He had been fired from that job
@@JM-lw3nx He quit and then conspired with Hitler to try to regain the throne. He encouraged Germany to bomb London in order to get them to surrender. All that aside, it is a lovely car.
Should read 'lump of junk, owned by a' Traitor'
