I get it damon is indeed broken but Stephen is the better brother why because when he turned him to a vampire he just didn’t want to be alone he loved him too much and didn’t want to loose him so what damon is bad because of his past not because he was a vampire and of course both of them did bad things but damon didn’t care about those he killed at least Stephen tries to stop himself from killing people he does everything to avoid it damon doesn’t care he kills whit humanity on Stephen does it whit humanity off and because he is a ripper it’s more difficult for him to control his blood lust actually it was Stephen who had vampirism as a curse it was a curse to him because like emely bennet said it was a curse to him because he has a pure heart and like the huntress said the stone wanted to liberate him and yes damon has done something for him but Stephen has done a lot more for him damon hated him and made his life miserable but when elena chose damon Stephen actually said he was happy for him Stephen sacrificed everything to save his brother and when he came back he found out that damon stole his girlfriend and don’t tell me she is not an object to be stolen because that is what they say when someone makes your girlfriend start to love him and even after that Stephen was happy for him it’s like saying I am happy that you stole my girlfriend when i sacrificed everything to save your life and here is damon hating him because Katherine choose him tell you what Stephen has done for Damon 1.
