The best point you made is that SKG should, in addition to what they have planned, aim to make it illegal for companies to take down private servers of games that are no longer sold, regardless of when the game was released. Personally, I think that even if a game is still being sold, companies should not be allowed to take down private servers, but that probably won't happen.

the wow private server only exists because some how they got alpha build with debugging information in the packet data. even with that it was a monumental effort to get working. It's not the autism win people think it is. the only way to preserve these games is to minimally have the apis for the client server communication defined publicly. without it, it would take terabytes of packet information centuries of decryption attempts and only then could the guess work of reverse engineering the protocol start. well at least until there are consumer grade quantum computers (lol?)

The new expansion textures and even shaders look much better than the core game. If you ever look at the core game textures on weapons for example, then go look at textures from the new expansion weapons, they are much better. The reason I mention weapons specifically is because I tried to transmog a character to look like a common soldier with standard issue gear and the normal "steel sword" skin that has been there since the launch of the game looked absolutely horrific compared to newer skins.

Re: Nepotism There's a difference between getting a kid a job, *which is the job of any parent*, and using parental connections to further the kid's career at the cost of others. Getting your kid, or any kid, a job, is perfectly normal. It's acceptable, and it's the parents' duty. That's not nepotism. Unless, of course, the job is something the kid wasn't qualified for, but others would have been. But once the kid's working, it's their own performance that should determine their career, not whether or not their parents have power in the company. That would then be nepotism.

I never got into bdo why because how its community treated me back when it started comin around on twitch and one had this stream going and was completely muted I wasn't getting anything that was happening in the game no commentary even though his lips were moving and engaging with the game. I was chat banned for asking questions about what is taking place and why no audio the dude looked almost like that pansy if pansy was a pasty white guy with same beard and little more jowl to their fat head.

While it is true that nepotism can lead to unqualified people working in an industry, that is not the base-line of reality. In reality across all of human history it was the parent that taught their child their line of work and all industry was generational and tended towards snowballing to maximum efficiency and quality. It is true that this does have issues, but none more than someone lieing on their resume and being charismatic or smart can achieve by dating their boss. aka, its roughly equal on the large scale, which is the only scale that matters. To embrace modernity to the detriment of forgetting what made it what it is is dangerous and shortsighted. even today, the highest quality products on the market are not being made by modern industry, but by generational businesses. Thor has repeatedly made clear he is aware just how privileged he is. But he worked his ass off just like everyone else, he worked at BLIZARD! the worst company on the market that treated its employees like dirt shit and he was in the muck with everyone else working insane levels of overtime for no extra pay.

I gotta admit, i have only watched around 20 mins of your video, but i allready see a massive problem. you are missrepresenting what pirate software actually says in the video because you are stopping so much and focusing so much on your own talking points that you are not actually listening to the points the video you are trying to comment makes. To clear up the confusion: 1. There was no early contradiction. In the video pirate software states that whilst the innitiative trys to fight the shutdown of possible single player experiences that have an arbiterary online-dependency that is not necessary, it is written way to brought and would (in its current state) be applied to live-service-games aswell. Thats why he puts so much emphasis on the phrasing "video games", where it should be something along the lines of "single player focused video games", something much much more specific 2. Even though you feel like "League of Legends" would not be an appropriate title, the fact of the matter is that this innitiative not only targets games that need to be bought, but includes any games where you made any kind of micro-transaction-payment in aswell. That is another issue and the reason pirate software mentions it. To be clear: I dont want you to give less of your personal opinion on your videos. After all, thats what reactions should be here for. But i would appreciate if you could either inform yourself about the topic thats being talked about if you notice the video you are reacting to assumes you have knowledge about the topic before you watch, or atleast go back a few sentences if you missed a transition instead of misrepresenting the speaker. I think much of this could have been avoided if you would have just gone back and listened to the first sentences without interruption and you even noticed yourself that something was off when he switched to LoL when you were still at single player games in your mind. I don't think Thor is saying "This solution isn't perfect, don't do anything." I think he's saying "This solution isn't good, let's not do this." He's not saying don't do ANYTHING. He's saying he can't get behind this specific initiative because it does not fix the things it purports to fix, and in fact will likely only make things worse. Which I agree with Thor on a lot of what he said. I think regulations need to happen, I think we need to do something. Just not this specific thing. I don't have enough information to know what the correct solution is, or to write it up myself. If I see a solution that I think will move things in the right direction, I will get behind that. And I like to think, based on the past several months of viewing Thor's shorts and livestreams, that Thor feels similarly. I don't know that for sure, but that was how I interpreted this video. Also, I don't think that Thor was wrong that politicians care about a multi-billion dollar industry. I don't know what he thinks when he says they "care", but I think they do care. I don't know that I agree about licensing should be the same as purchasing.What I do agree with is that the onus should be put on the people trying to preserve the game, not the developers. The developers made the game, they did their job. The publishers distributed the game, they did their job. When they are ready to shut down any live service game, if someone wants to come in, put in the work to reverse engineer the code or the servers, and keep the game running "in a playable state", I think they should absolutely be able to do that. I also agree with you about what you said regarding Thor's delivery. His "This is disgusting, you're disgusting" was largely inappropriate. I do think some of the points that Ross made are gross af, but I think if you're trying to actually change minds, then you don't focus on that. You point out the specific flaws in their argument. I don't think it's necessarily on Thor to say what a better solution would be. I think "This is bad, and here's why," is a perfectly valid response. It's basically where I'm at right now. But I don't necessarily know how to do it better. That doesn't make "this is bad," a bad thing to say. I like the way comedian Steve Hofstetter puts it (although he's talking about parenting). "I don't know how to fly a helicopter. If I see one in a tree, I know someone fucked up." I may not know how to write this better, but that doesn't mean I can't see flaws in the way this is written.

two points for the first 16min: 1. The point about leauge of legends and multiplayer games: He first states that the initiative *should* only target single player games. But the text of the initiative doesn't distinguish between multiplayer or sinlge player games, its just all games. So his point here is that the text of the initiative should call specifically for single player games and not all games. He uses leauge of legends to illustrate how SKG could be a problem for multiplayer games. (idk if his point here is a good one or not) 2. The drivers licence analogy: I think the drivers licence is a good example. Like you said your licence card is just a physical representation of you licence. The actual licence is the idea that the state or the entity that issues/controls these licences aknowledges that you as a person have a licence. This licence can be revoked again if the licence holder breaks the rules (aka. streeet laws) enough. And here is a big difference between game licences as they are now and ones driving licence. Your driving licence cannot be revoked on a whim, but a game licence can. Aka. the rules when or how a game licence is revoked aren't really 100% clear to the customer. Shure there are sort of obvious cases where i at least wont complain if my licence will be revoked. For example if i cheat in cs2, lol, etc. or the licence was aquired through piracy. However as it is now game licences are also revoked without any wrongdoing on the customers side. Nether is it clear enough imo that the licence is limited. It just gets revoked seemingly when the publisher or distributor feels like it. Often with only a few months notice in advance. I wonder how customer behaviour would change if the store page would clearly state the end date of the game (already at release of the game).
