I am a Beekeeper, Farmer, Husband, Father, Veteran and a Lineman. I Love agriculture and anything to do with agriculture!
I’m Located in northern Utah on a family owned farm that’s been in our family for almost 100 years. Proud to be an American. Anything on this channel is simply my onion and how I do things or just me doing my thing. It is not the only way to do things and is simply my way. My videos are simple and how I do things. Not how they should be done videos.

Checkin on 2 swarms. (Acorn foundation is amazing)
These swarms have drawn out 90% of these heavy waxed foundations! I strongly recommend them they are amazing and the bees do great on them! #beekeeping #farmer #beekeeper #beelife #newvideo #honey #agriculture #bestlife #satisfying #farm #acorn #acornfoundation #plasticfoundation

@@rodneymiddleton9624 awesome how did you stumble across my channel?
@@barkersbees It just popped up so I thought I would check it out.
Looking good Bracken. Swarms can be amazing and heavy or triple wax foundation is key for rapid wax building! Fun stuff!
Yeah cool to watch them blow up!
Man you and your dad were lucky, glad you're okay 🏴 happy healthy peace ✌️
Yeah we got lucky for sure that day! Definitely never forget it!
Enjoying following your channel!
I appreciate the fallowing and the support!
I love it! Thanks for coming down Bracken!
Thanks for the invite! Glad I could make it!

Yeah pretty good lol!
That's awesome!
It sure is!
Very cool. Fun stuff kids. Thanks for sharing your dad with me for a couple go days last week!
They said no problem!
oh no!!! Im sorry to hear that! Thank you for sharing, sometimes we learn from the mistakes of others. Better luck on your next round!
Thank you!
We all make mistakes when starting out with bees. Just book it down to experience
Yeah experience is expensive!
Oh man that's rough. Hang in there my friend! Hopefully the others will pull through.
Yeah hopefully!
Air vents.
Yeah I should have
I feel your pain, do you have air vents In them? I put mine opposite the entrance up at/near the top
I think the bees will surprise you. I bet you end up with some nice queens from this go around. But as you say…time will tell. It was great having you here for a few days! Nash is THE MAN!!! Thanks for sharing my friend.🐝😎
Yes sir time will tell! Nash is the man haha!
Look forward to seeing the results!
Me too!
thanks for sharing the good, bad, and ugly!
Yeah lots of ugly over here coming up haha you’re welcome
Nice ,good job for teaching the kid,in a few year he will have his bee yard teaching us how to do grafting better then my Dad .
Haha yeah hopefully that’s the case!
You are correct Bracken, they have been queenless for a little while. Thank you for dropping the queens off.
Thanks Bruce!
Good stuff Bracken!
Three frame is good .. that’s how I roll
Good I’m excited to try it!
Most likely they couldn't control the heat in these small boxes, so they left. Very common with these minis.
Thanks for the input! I think so too
Had good luck wintering them like that.
You have or are you asking?
@@barkersbees sorry, I have had good luck, when they are in a ten frame box it’s like one hive.
@@jaymackley3099 sweet!!
Looking good Bracken. You seem tone having a good year!
Thanks for sharing this important lesson Bracken. Good information. See you soon my friend!
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for sharing this important lesson Bracken. Good information.
My pleasure!
enjoying the journey
Thank you!
This is interesting. I never would have thought that would happen.
They may have absconded for some other reason. The heat. I try and put my minis up off the ground
@@bennybeekeeperyeah maybe they did.. I have other ones down not far from here and they didn’t have any issues at all. Just as hot down there as it is here but definitely a possibility. Maybe the did because it got too packed and it was too hot
I enjoy your vids., you show the good and the bad. That's why I sub.
I appreciate your sub!
Thanks!
Yeah try it out it’s cheap and easy!
I really like raising queens too!
Yeah what a game changer!
Good for you Man!
Thank you!

@@barkersbees I try to support good content!
@@rodneymiddleton9624 well idk if mine is good but I sure appreciate the support!
It’s so cool when you have success.
Thank you! Yes it is! Some more of my mistakes are coming soon too haha!
Oh shit, indeed It happens, but those mistakes punch you in the gut. I try to do an ending yard walk around, especially when super busy, Keep up the good work
Thank you Ian!! That is a good idea a final walk around inspection! I love that idea!
That’s what I tell my crew also
Sometimes maybe 1/2 the time with laying workers the queen starts laying at the same time as the workers. You gotta look closely. No need to walk away with them shake right in front of the queen right colonies or use newspaper to combine them. If it’s a drone laying queen you always want to kill her. I believe people have a difficult time fixing this issue because they don’t actually know what is happening. When the queen is laying beside the workers it takes a couple weeks for it to straighten itself out anyway, they are setback. I think it’s funny how people make such a big deal of this or have crazy ideas about it.
I have had this work both ways … depending on how strong the field force is .. if they are too great they will kill the queen
Yeah that’s the easiest way to fix that problem IMO.
Yeah I agree for sure
honest mistake.. they'll recover eventually
Yeah I hope so!
Dang it - hard to admit but good to learn. Good luck
Man that’s tough. Easy to do though. All part of the learning experience as you ramp up numbers.
Yes sir it is.
We all feel bad when we let our bees down. We generally never make the same big mistake twice.
Yeah.. I did this time. But I don’t think there will be a 3rd after that
At least you talked about it, real men are honest.
Thanks
I might have missed it but what kind of seed? Was that wheat or rye or a grass of some kind?
It is a 3 way seed it’s triticale, barley and soft white wheat. We plant it then right before the seed gets hard we cut it and bale it for feed for cattle
Very cool man. Excited to see how they do!
Me too!! Thank you!
Is that roofer Brad?
Not sure I’ve ever heard him called that before lol
Thanks for sharing 😊
Awesome videos! I also use the mini mating nucs, and two frame mating nucs after I put the nurse bees in I wait at least 24 hours most times I will wait 48 hours before I open them and let them orientate, I keep them in a dark area with a fan blowing gently on them so they don’t over heat and die…. Yeah I’ve had that happen also. The extra wax on the cells is not much of a problem just bring some small very sharp scissors with you to trim them, what I do to try eliminate that is I put in a frame of undrawn foundation to give them somewhere to put the wax
Great advice thank you!
