How Takemura's Devotion Destroyed Him | Cyberpunk 2077 | Character Analysis & Explained
Переглядів 14 тис.21 годину тому
Oh, Takemura... he's hard to dislike, but impossible to truly save. His is a tragic tale of loyalty, but not just to anyone to the Emperor himself. Or, at least, his idea of him. In this video, we explore the paths of Goro Takemura's story, depending on the player's choice in Cyberpunk 2077. And gah, its so sad... every path for him is NOT GREAT. He is a good man, tied up with the wrong people....

Why Mel Isn't JUST A Manipulator | Arcane Season 1 | Character Analysis & Explained

Mel Medarda is one of the best written characters in Arcane, and she brings me back to the days when GoT was its strongest. (GODS, the writing was STRONGGG THEN...) She's just a joy to watch, and her story is so cool to untangle. Mel is kinda like Silco in a way, in that they're both manipulators of others in order to get what they want a selfless goal (on paper), backed by the strength of thei...
Caitlyn is MUCH MORE Than Vi's Girlfriend | Arcane Season 1 | Character Analysis & Explained

Caitlyn Kiramman may be a character of cliches, but she's an awesome example of an interesting character from an "uninteresting" place. Caitlyn struggles against the pull of her family name, and what her heart desires, and it's so awesome to watch her grow throughout Arcane's first season. Her relationship with Vi is super important, but I wanted to prioritize who Caitlyn is, as well as her own...

Jean in Season 4 has THE BEST ARC... perhaps tied with Reiner. His journey from unlikeable jackhole to the best leader for the scouts was so unexpected on my first watch, and I love where they took him. Why Ekko is Arcane's Most Underrated Character | Arcane Season 1 | Character Analysis & Explained
Переглядів 20 тис.Місяць тому
While Ekko doesn't have NEARLY as much screentime as I hoped he would the first time I watched Arcane, he's awesome. He's one of the few characters in the show, where almost everybody is stuck in the past, to move forward from it. He's actually trying to BUILD a new, better world, with others who feel the same way. That takes a lot of strength of character to do. I really, really hope we get to...
Why Silco is Arcane's Manipulative Masterpiece | Arcane Season 1 | Character Analysis & Explained
Переглядів 25 тис.Місяць тому
I can't name many characters that surpass Arcane's Silco in terms of narrative complexity. He's a perfect example of the humanity of a villain, of how they're all the victims in their own, untold story except, Arcane takes precious time to tell us that story. Regardless of the audiences' perspective on his morals (or lack thereof), you can't deny the beautiful job the writers did with his arc. ...

Sevika is the bulwark of Silco's empire, and without her, it would've all come crashing down. And he knows it. Despite her role as a supporting character, Sevika pulls no punches throughout Arcane. Jinx is a fascinating character. I've seen few characters who walk the line between sympathetic and scary quite like she does. Arcane does an amazing job portraying the terrifying reality of her mental illness, combined with her unique traumas, rather than making her into a "quirky" or "cute crazy" type character. Jinx is SCARY. In this video, we take a closer look at Jinx's journey from passiv...

How Vi Authored Her Own Destruction | Arcane Season 1 | Character Analysis & Explained

TODAY, we dig into the core of Night City... that seedy, rotting core, of the City of Dreams. Sometimes, a setting is just a place where stuff in a story happens. I like characters like T-Bug whose allegiance isn't given or questionable. I believe she had helped Dex get out of town during his previous blunder. When Dex came back she saw the money and fame just like Jackie, opportunity to get to that island. Maybe she would have tried to scam and run if things got crazy, but I think in her own way she wasn't planning on betraying V and Jackie. In the end she was way over her head, just like V, Jackie and Dex. None of the crew got away. Reminding me of William Gibson books.

OK you know it's not the same gang right? The old Voodoo Boys where largely not Haitian or Dominican, but used voodoo like ceremonies and occultism to drive recruitment. This meant that when the environment started going nuts lots and lots of h Haitian and Dominican refuges showed up in the city, (having presumably walked accros the continental us). They where not happy with the pretenders when they arrived. When last we saw them in an official book they where severely beaten down by the new immigrants and didn't look like surviving. Then in 2062 a lot of Haitian fleeing the collapse came to pacifica to help build it. When it to collapsed and they stayed, the locals christened them the voodo boys because they looked like the now defunct gang. So just good old racism.

2077 took 8 years to make. That's not really a rushed game. What hurt this game the most, and the reason so much that was promised wasn't in it, was the promise to investers it would work on last gen consoles. For reference, It was the announced when the ps3 was current. The other big issues was that, despite their experience in the Witcher series, they didn't really know what they were doing. It's evident by the game, even now, playing and controling like a 15+ yo game. As well as the plot. In the plot, the beginning of the game feels like it could have and should have been half/most of the game on its own. Meaning the starting path and then the bit with Jackie up to the the big job. This would have made it a better game, too. The plot has you rushing for a cure the moment the world opens up. The point of the side stuff is to build rep. Would have made sense to run around the city, build the rep, then do the big job. The last third of the game/Dlc/cyberpunk 2 could've/should've been the engram shenanigans. Now it's like "V, you have hours...maybe days to live while an invasive relic is slowly overwriting your own brain with itself. Can you go across town and deal with some cyberpsychos, grab some trivial data, box a few people, and steel some cars for me? Thanks, Choom!" Tldr: It should have been a lot better, especially with the almost decade development time it had. It wasn't rushed, they just asked development experience and leadership necessary direction to keep it moving and coherent.

11! I feel old. While I agree with your take on DAO, I disagree regarding DA2 and Inquisition. DA2 had a much more bespoke story as it related specifically to Hawke, they had a reason for everything they did and why they were one to do it. Inquisition however was just lazy. You have a generic villain and a hero that just happens to be in that place at that time. There is no reason for the player character to care about what is happening. Where inquisition makes up for its poor narrative is how well the companions were written and their personal stories. DAO however stands above in its storytelling by creating a personal narrative for the player character that is not only detailed but played and interacted with by the player which is then weaved almost seamlessly into the larger narrative. In short DAO gives you a reason to care. DA2 works only if you can relate to Hawke and Inquisition works if you care about your companions. Veilguard just doesn’t

Funny how in the end, only Sevika is left as the last head representative of Zaun, as a Councilwoman no less; she's always been the only true believer through and through. Not the smartest (Silco), not the strongest (Vander), not the most ruthless (Viktor), not the greediest (Chembarons), not the most idealistic (Ekko). Jayce is the most easily manipulated (...) you know he still had to convince all his other fellow councilmen and even after that, they'd not follow him and Silco blindly, right? Without people like Jayce there would never be any attempt at peace in the first place - unless a third party comes to eat them both.

It’s a great show. The animation is so good. Unfortunately, they are going way too hard on the strong woman lesbo thing. Also, the story is getting completely incoherent. Like, does anyone actually understand wtf is going on? The stuff Victor explains is just mystical psychobabble. It doesn’t explain anything.

He was already the worst fixer before we even took the job. Half of the job itself was fixing his own fuck up. Even Kirk is a better fixer because, even though his tech didn't work, he at least tried to give a level of support with the security guard turning off the cams and didn't have us go on some quest to obtain the hijacking tool first. He already had everything planned out and sorted and just needed someone to pull it off.

Kist the idea of Cyberpunk (Table Top, Game, Off Shots like Shadowrun, Rifts and others). They never truely end well. Its a Fast Life Style. Light the Firecracker and Enjoy the Ride before the final Explosion 💥. They explain it woth Afterlife....ALL the drinks that have names is for Legends who are Dead not alive.

One of the things I found most brilliant by the way Cyberpunk 2077's story unfolds is our change in perspective. At the start, you see Dex as a heavy hitter with real power and influence but by the end, after getting heavily involved in the real powers of the world you get to see just how small and pathetic he really was - just like Jackie and V's naive childish dream of becoming "legends".

He served a mad man and tyrant. There's actually a shard that you can find in Saburo's AV at Konpeki Plaza. Hacking it will show that Saburo was actually planning on nuking Night City off the face of the earth once he was done dealing with his sons betrayal. That means that if he hadn't been killed V, Jackie and the millions of other people living in Night City would have been snuffed out of existence in the blink of an eye. It makes me wonder of Takemura really knew everything about Saburo or if Saburo maybe hid some stuff from even him. Because how could anybody defend and serve a man who's willing to do something that horrific and unforgivable?

i think you could have seen river tied into the main story in one way or another. my suggestion would be probably have him show up trying to find info on XBD/BD's and needing V to do it because he sticks out as a cop. this could tie into the shady gentleman in the storage area of jig jig street or even tie in the watson XBD operation you can take out as part of a gig. you just have the hunch be something small like just a slightly odd timestamp when the BD was used before death, or even that no BD wreath was noted at the scene of his suppossed death or something so he'd show up and be the one asking the BD dealer about hardcore BDs and such. alternetives are making him part of the quest to find Evaline in the clouds portion.

I very much think Takemura was meant to be the similar but opposite to Silverhand. They are two sides of the same destructive coin of perpetuating status quo. Goro means well, it is pretty clear, but his meaning well will always ultimately go through Arasaka because that's what his life always has been, uplifted from poverty by corporations, being the lucky one in this dog eat dog world. Silverhand on the other hand still perpetuates the same status quo but from opposite end, blind rage without goal other than destruction, raging against everything Saka while not providing any solutions. They are both the same unproductive concept taken to different extreme, the sole difference is that Silverhand being an extension of our V can be honed in to become more productive and focused while Goro is only left to silently regret his decision after it's well too late to change them, or to blame the person who showed him the truth of the path he had taken.

Finally got around to watching this, would've happened sooner but ya know how life goes, lol. This was a really great video, perhaps being my favorite character analysis from you. I'll admit that prior to this vid I really didn't think much of Takemura; he was just a means to an end. But now I can't help but feel sorry for the guy. You really got me to see him in a new light. I especially love your commentary on his fate in all of the endings and how that reflects on his character. Well done. I'll bring this up one more time because it would be such a fun video to see from you, but a video on the bullet necklace would be stellar. I can't help but keep pondering about its meaning in the endings. Why is it sometimes kept? Why is it sometimes discarded? Why do some endings give you the option to keep or leave it? It would be really interesting to dive into all of that, I think. But that's enough rambling from me, great video and I will be patiently waiting for the next one.
