Angkor Wat and Pub Street! Cambodian New Year in Siem Reap
Join me as I dive into the largest Cambodian New Year celebration in Siem Reap, Cambodia! For my first celebration here [in 2023's Year of the Rabbit], there's no place more iconic than Angkor Wat, a true symbol of Khmer heritage. This unforgettable experience is packed with culture, history, and excitement. Watch as we explore the ancient temples, engage in vibrant festivities, and partake in traditional water fights. And we were able to witness the origami heart exhibit which was awarded the 2023 Guinness World Record, in person! Come along and maybe you'll be inspired to experience this magical celebration for yourself one day. 🇰🇭🎉🙏🏾

Many things about Cambodia are underrated. Edit: i saw bousra falls on my national geographic map... I was saying boo-sra Edit again: I like looking at maps and finding places that seem interesting then finding videos on those places to see what it's like. There are many landmarks on maps of Cambodia that seem interesting and have very little coverage by western tourists.

Great channel - not overburdening and boring you with "Google researched history wisdom" - right to the point. Best advice - for anybody traveling anywhere - when in Rome - don't do like the Romans do since you are not a Roman. USE COMMON SENSE - and that - makes sense.

I came to Siem Reap about 3 months ago with about $13,000 in savings. I've blown through about $5,000 so far, but I'd say at least a third of that was me just being a stupid rookie ex-pat. My goal is to get my total monthly cost down below $1,500 per month. $500 a month might be doable, but If want to live on a super tight budget, I can just go back to the States. I'm not too worried about the future - my Social Security benefits are supposed to kick in next month (January 2025), and I should be receiving a little less than $2,500 month. That means I should be able to save a pretty good amount of money to self-fund my healthcare, emergency fund, and still be able to do some traveling.

Hi. I don't live in Cambodia but I've seen this answer from another expat. How he does it: he withdraws money from his USA acct) Charles Schwab) via ATM, then goes to another ATM of his Cambodian bank (ABA) to deposit the cash. He chose Charles Schwab bcos it refunds his ATM fees at month's end. Another one did it by creating a Wise (formerly Transfer wise) acct and transferring money from her USA asct to Wise. Then from Wise, she transfers her money to her ABA (Cambodian) bank acct. This was "taught" to her by bank staff at ABA when she opened an acct with them. Good luck!

I’ve been living in Siem Reap for nearly 2 years now. I love it. I found a modern, 1-bedroom, fully-furnished, 2nd floor apartment with a nice balcony overlooking a coconut tree and mango grove. Beautiful, nature view. My bedroom has 3 floor to ceiling windows and a Smart TV and washing machine. Free water and Internet, all for $200 a month on a 6-month lease, just 1 mile from Pub Street. My scooter rental is $80 a month and I am in heaven! I’m able to live here as a single guy on $1,000 a month while banking $1,000 a month. First time I’ve been able to do that in my life. I’m a healthy and vibrant 70-year old and feel so blessed.

From what a few expats in Siem Reap tell me - several there live quite well on $800 US - SS checks ! Others suggest $1200 to be less 'wanting' or having to pay attention to your budget ? One who lives there told me that you can pretty much live in Siem Reap - '''however you want''' - on $1500/mo. So there's that ! --?-- ua-cam.com/video/BcqgO1MTDR4/v-deo.htmlsi=htcHo-e6Lgf8Wccn

Nice video but unfotunate you made it hard to figure out the places, it's obviously going to be possible for anyone researching the area so why make it hard LOL. As for M Residence, they charge high enough rent that you expect ammenities. Well I found the ammenities to be worthless. It is the only building there I know, so I hope this is NOT TRUE for all buildings? M Residence gym has no A/C so impossibly hot, but also lacks enough equipment for a useful weight training workout except maybe once a month in an emergency. Pool might be OK but ultimately isn't it better to have one with some shade. Otherwise the building is fine but the price/value just isn't there with 1 usable amenity for me personally. I suffered in the micro studio there because there's no desk or suitable seating just a couch, and working 10 hour work days with that posture is... bad for your health tbh.
