These are the same product as the Trulap adjustable dumbbells in the USA. In the US, you can get Pepin's or the REPins, which do seem like the best adjustable dumbbells you can overall get as you can drop them (they are more pricey though). But in the UK you really only have the Brain Gains that compete with Assassin Goods (apart from the other alternatives like Powerblocks, Ironmasters or the Bowflex style with the button).
In the video, I explain why the Assassin Goods adjustable dumbbells are my personal top pick.

    This has came at a great time for me. Ive been saving up to get a pair of adjustable dumbells in the Black Friday sales , and was pretty certain i was going to get the 40kg hex 2.5 incriment dumbells from Braingain. After reading through the comments here im not 100% sure any more. If im spending that kind of money i want something that is going to last. Seeing as they sell replacement parts for the dumbbells in your video, it might ne worth spending the extra 100/150 pound and getting them. Man i was so sure too , decisions decisions!! Subbed btw 😊

      Yeah I do like the braingains too- I haven’t got my hands on a pair to review but used the Nuobells before. The one thing that puts me off on these is the amount of reviews you see about people saying the plastic bit broke- and it’s quite expensive to replace. Plus now I really like the 1.5 increments- I didn’t think I would this much haha! Got your eyes on anything else for Black Friday?

    As a 6'5 man I use the fintess reality 1000 bench. It support 800lbs which is more than enough for the beginner to intermediate lifter. My current rack is Cap Half Rack. I lifted havy loads without my rack tilting over, and performed ring calisthenics. Full or half, if it not bolted down, use common sense and make sure you have enough weight on the rack to keep it in place. My weights are standard, which is good enough for the beginner to intermediate lifter. Most standard olympic length size barbells will support 300 to 350lbs, plus cast iron is very durable and has been around for a hot minute, so you should be able to find plenty of deals online to build your gym. Also since using standard, I do use threaded adjustable dumbbells. I have three sets that allow me to shift quickly through the weights, and I just add tennis balls on the portion of threaded that would be touching my thighs, so they don't dig in. I have as basic cable pulley system, that allows me do arrange of lat pulldowns, cable rows, and cable bicep/tricep curls/extensions. I use resistance bands for flys, warmups, and stretches. I'm personally using eyebolts and carabingers, that way the bands are always at the same height and blue painters tape on my mats for markers. Going forward, I probably most likely will get an all in one smith cage, and I have already seen my fair share that support standard weight not just olympic.

    • @stronghomegym
      @stronghomegym 4 місяці тому

      Too right and love this comment! To be honest you can get a great workout without any weights and your set up sounds great! Love the old tennis ball on the ends trick too! Obviously weight is just weight so a standard bar is no issue at all. Getting the cast iron plates are important though other wise you wouldn’t be able to put as much weight on using those plastic ones. Personally I find there’s so many more options etc with Olympic bars and plates- eventually most people upgrade to them if they take it seriously, which is why I’d recommend this type of gym for people on a tight budget, then there’s less stuff you’d need to replace. The bottom line is just to find something that works for you and get into a routine. Appreciate your comment hope that helps people see another potential set up!

    • @stronghomegym
      @stronghomegym 5 місяців тому

      I haven’t made plans to- I’ve had a go with some Nuobells before and they do feel great. Arguably more so than the braingains due to the rattling. But I’ve seen so many people complain about those types breaking- it’s the plastic bit on the frame which eventually goes and they’re not so easy to replace or repair- but if you’re careful with them they do feel great. Would you like to see a review of them?

    • @sparkyy2890
      @sparkyy2890 4 місяці тому

      I bought the braingain octagons before i bought these, went for the octagons over the round ones because the site said they are the most durable adjustable dumbbells from braingain, however they broke after about 6 months, the sides misaligned, luckily i was still under warrenty so i got some new handles and they were sound. However through some research into fixing them i came across a vid by glucks gym on nuobells and how the cam followers are plastic and will wear out no matter what happens, i checked my old handles and sure enough they were the same design and had started to wear out. Did some research into the design of the assassins and found although they had plastic in them too, they are much more serviceable and dont contain any plastic on metal grinding that would excessively wear down the mechanism, and assassingoods sell replacement parts which is great. So i quickly sold the braingains and bought the assassins, couldnt be happier even if i lost some money in the process. I understand its a costly purchase for a video, the only thing is braingain vs assassingoods seems to be the conversation in the uk right now, so i think it would be good to have a resource comparing them for the uk home gym users. The braingains do have some advantages, such as the issue with the plates falling over is not nearly as common with the braingains as the plates are wider, they arent as bulky and i prefer the stand for the braingains, however the assassingoods ones wont just die on you, which i think gives them the edge. Sorry for the long comment, hope this helps

    I've been seriously considering these for my home gym instead of what I currently have. I've currently got a full set of 2.5-40kg in 2.5 increments (with flex plates for smaller increments) I'm being told don't do it as a full set is better but it just takes up so much space. Have you had any rust form on the handles or anywhere else? My current set have rubber handles so rust isn't an issue. The main question, would you swap out a full set for these given the choice?

    • @stronghomegym
      @stronghomegym 5 місяців тому

      As any good answer goes- it depends! First of all anything metal can rust, especially if it gets wet and you never clean it. I haven’t had them long enough to see any rust though. Secondly I would personally prefer a full rubber set- as you can see in the video you can literally throw them around and they’ll be fine. However, if it freed up space to put in a bit of equipment (like a cable machine or leg press/ extension if I really wanted it- or maybe it allows you to hang a bike on the wall or something else) then it’s a no brainer for me in a home gym. I’m guessing you’d be able to sell them for a similar amount on marketplace. Bottom line- it’s up to you unfortunately. What would the extra space be needed for? Do you look after your equipment and don’t throw the dumbbells around?

    • @Ashliano86
      @Ashliano86 5 місяців тому

      @@stronghomegym I definitely take very good care of my equipment and never drop my DB's either, however, I should probably do barbell maintenance etc more regularly LOL! I had another full set previously with metal handles and rust started to appear after around a year and it was a pain cleaning so many, which is why I opted for rubber handles, they also aren't cold in winter. I think my issue is that i've got a lot of equipment already (Half rack, pulley tower, leg press/hack squat, leg ext/curl etc) and getting these adjustables would potentially open up the space more. I'm finding it difficult finding a way to store all my dumbbells and kettlebells differently to how I currently am and although it's okay, I'd like it to look a bit better. I totally get your answer as it's only me who can decide. I think I need to find someone who has the adjustables near me so I can try them, as it'll be a bit of a process selling my set and custom DB rack. I'm a moderator in a large home gym group on FB so I'm hoping I can find someone there! Appreciate the response mate, much appreciated!

If I do I'll keep my fixed set until tested and sell what's easiest to part with I guess. May become an expensive test expensive but possibly a risk worth taking. I did look at adjustable KBs before but I have a set of Competition KBs 8-32kg in 4kg increments and I'm glad to say unlike the DBs they don't take up much space.

      Yeah I think most people would be very happy with either of these tbh. @stronghomegym i have the braingain octagon dumbells, one thing i would be aware of is the repairability of them, compared to the stealth dumbbells. They are basically the same mechanism as the nuobells in the us, and if you break them they are incredibly complex to repair yourself, furthermore if you look at the video by glucks gym or average joes teardown you will find the nuobell handles will eventually break no matter what, whereas the stealth ones are a much simpler design less likely to just break on you, and the stealth ones are very easy to open up and repair to the point u can order one replacement handle from assassingoods and use various parts to mend your handles, assassingoods also now have a two year warrenty (extendable to 3) whereas braingain only have one. Hope this is informative
