    I had cervical surgery then found out I have AS as well. Lower back issues now, L5 S1 . Best of luck to you. I’ve tried most of the meds. Had lots of side effects from them, from the dmards and went to biologics. Then I started having tingling, pins and needles which now I contribute to the dif meds. I was even having infusions monthly. Had a flare and got steroids shot in my butt and never felt better. Told my rheumatologist and now I take methyprednisolone every other day and pain meds but am working to find other relief with nerve ablation for lower back, I’m horrible at taking meds. If what they give you doesn’t work, ask to try different med. chronic pain is hard to live with. Sounds like you are moving around more than I can at the moment. Good Luck to you and stay positive!

    Thank you for that perspective. I’m 10 days post adr at L5-S1 and still struggling with night pain such as yourself. As an Ironman athlete I was unrealistically looking forward to getting back to swimming and stationary bike soon but may need to reset my expectations. Confident that this will be right choice for myself but frustrated by the not so good days. God Bless all.

    Hey man had disc replacement 4 months ago. Was doing well but now I have some crazy back pain, I’ve done X-rays and scans everything looks good. Not sure if this is part of the process. How was your pain 4 months out?

  • @fastridesports5225
    @fastridesports5225 2 роки тому

    Your discs expand at night while lying down. As soon as you stand they then shrink . Swimming is for sure the best therapy, with a centre snorkel and stop rolling and don’t stretch. Give your nerves time to heal ! Your body has been surgically damaged and the nerves have memory so patience and be prepared to be on a roller coaster ride of tingling, numbness and burning.

    You kind of left out the topic of your ADR. Was it helpful? With your diagnosis do you feel that surgery was necessary? Was it it AS causing the pain this whole time ? What’s your mobility like at the levels where you had the surgery?

    Sorry to hear that bro. I just got mine L4-L5 with Dr. Georgiy V Brusovanik in Miiami and it’s being a total success. I dealt with pain for 8-10 years after a fall. Don’t give up- surgeries go wrong sometimes- get a second opinion. Try Dr. Georgiy V Brusovanik. I found him after 8-10 years of everyone tell long me “you just going to have to learn to live with pain” etc. Maybe I should post my story on UA-cam but we will see. God Bless

    I have read elsewhere that as the artificial disc(s) is/are frequently thicker/taller than the replaced disc(s) which had become thinner than their original height due to disc degeneration or injury, the patient can have muscle pain for quite some time after surgery. I would guess that the muscles became shorter over time and gradually need to be stretched in a regular basis. This could also explain why the level of pain decreases when you take muscle relaxers and/or do the stretching exercises you described using the roller. I have not yet had surgery even though I have some problems with disc degeneration whereby some of my discs are losing some of their original height due to dehydration and wear and tear. When I take muscle relaxers, most of my pain goes away on a temporary basis.
