I have a hollow wheat back but it is tin. I had an uncle that was a coin guy. He said they were used to smuggle stuff during the cold War. He was also a great bull-shi**er. Miss him much.

One of the better episodes because Graham represents the more casual collector. He is right, we need more content creators, even now. I know this show does not exiat anymore but inviting other channels here would have been good, like Graham said. It didn't happen. An expert starts as a beginner. UA-cam is still new for a lot of philatelists. I met a few that did not realise that there were philatelic channels. The smaller this community is on YT the more we need to interconnect. Because it is hard work and I have seen a lot of people with channels stop. Thanks for this episode!

Dude spends his life collecting these rare gems that will only go up in value with time. Upon his demise, his daughters can't wait to sell everything versus transferring ownership to their descendants. Proceeds are probably going to New handbags, shoes and other things that only depreciate in value over time.

Woah! My 82 yr old father recently entrusted me with his childhood coin collection. It's not that big. He just tried saving things like buffalo nickels, mercury dimes, silver "walking liberty dollars", Indian head pennies, etc. I've yet to delve into looking them all up...but after 1/2 hr looking at prices in the big red book , I just figured it was worthless. They are all so worn. I'll do more research this winter. I also got his stamp collection. I LOVE philately ( I've watched every noble spirit video....but all his stamps are common. I just enjoy learning about them , though. Stamp collecting is very therapeutic for me. Thanks for your videos.

I’ve always found commissions selling very interesting. Especially accounting portion of it. Were you have to pay taxes in show all that kind of stuff but great video.

Do not send any revenues to PSE. Their certs on U.S. revenues are very suspect, especially since they started doing all their expertization inhouse in the last decade... The only entity you should send revenue stamps to is the Philatelic Foundation, at least as long as Brian Bleckwenn still expertizes for them. Additionally, with any scarce part perfs, you not only have to be concerned with trimmed perforates, but also imperforates that have been perforated at left and right. Lastly, given the poor quality control of the era, perforations were all over the place, so wildly large and small perforated margins are frequently found. Also, R66b is not known imperforate vertically.

I am trying to get back into stamp collecting after a long, long time off. Used to collect U.S. primarily and random stamps by mail on approval but lost interest. Now that I'm older with more disposable cash it's an itch to scratch again. I cannot believe the pricing for the online digital model. I don't pay as much for two annual subscriptions to searchable coin auction archival sites with millions and millions of records and photos as I would for the Scott set. I simply bought the 2025 printed set and will use it forever. If you want to see the future of this model, wait until they declare they will no longer publish the printed sets and the ONLY option will be the annual subscription. It will happen.

As a coin guy turned stamp guy, (and someone who has watched many Noble Spirit videos on stamps), I decided to watch this and towards the end of the video, I started thinking about much this guy reminded me of an older version of Michael Cortese. Surprise surprise: the description names him as Joe Cortese so there is no doubt in my mind he is Senior. It truly is incredible how much alike they are. It never ceases to amaze me how much a Father and Son can sound and act alike; never mind look alike. He seems like a good guy, and tremendously knowledgeable about his craft, just like his Son is.

Late to the party but I’m having my wife watch this. She’s a member of several Facebook pen pal groups and they are CONSTANTLY pushing ads for sketchy stamp vendors. She has been begging me to go buy from one of them because they’re selling rolls of 100 for $29.99. I tried arguing with her, unsuccessfully, the “currency” argument. I asked if she’d trust someone offering to give her $73 if she gave them $30, because that’s what these sites are doing. But she can’t seem to grasp the idea that stamps are CURRENCY. Her counter argument, literally, was “we’re talking about stamps not money”. 🙄 Hopefully watching this will make her realize there’s a significant issue with forgeries and remind her that “if it seems too good to be true, it probably is”.

Part of the Trouble: I have sent Known & Obvious Counterfeit stamps to the Postal Inspector's. Two weeks later I called them and talked to them on the phone. They agreed that the stamps were Counterfeit, But Would Not Write me an Official Letter saying this. eBay wanted a letter from the Postal Inspector Before they would proceed with a refund. CATCH - 22 aka You're Screwed.

USPS doing really bad job at this. Stamps used to be treated almost equal to bank notes. Any fraud attempt should be dealt seriously and USPS and its investigative body should fight it. But USPS just leave it to the general public which is not really knowledgeable or can detect the counterfeit effectively. They should make it illegally to sell stamps beside itself(not even Walmart or Costco). And nobody should be able to advertise of selling stamps other than USPS no exception Now even if USPS detects counterfeit mails it probably still deliver the mails unless it's massive scale for preserving the reliability of USPS service. It's ridiculous USPS is doing poor business practically going bankrupt but would not respond this issue that's undermining its profitability.
