Assembling a Huge Snake Skull / Big Python / Exotic Pet Veterinary Anatomy Zoo Science
Snake skulls are very complex and are challenging in themselves. They are like little skeletons. They are made up of a bunch of bones that have to be put back in place to assemble it.
In this case, it is the skull of a large Burmese python (Python bivittatus) (about 4 m, about 13 feet).
Don't miss the impressive set of teeth it has, especially on the palate. No prey could escape such a bite!
It was cleaned by maceration. Therefore, all the bones were separated and it has been necessary to put them all back together. A very interesting challenge and at the same time very didactic.
I am preparing some books on the cleaning and assembly of skulls and skeletons of snakes. Soon they will be available!

In this video I begin to work the rib cage. The spine is finished and now I add the ribs and the sternum. Some ribs were broken. Curiously, they were broken from the inside out, as if the kitty had a Chestbuster from Alien inside. In this video, I work on the skull, which basically consists of gluing the teeth into it. Some are tiny and it is necessary to look for them well among the small remains, so as not to lose them. As the skeleton was cleaned by maceration, the teeth were dislodged from the skull. Unfortunately, the nasal bones are missing. I don't know what could have happened to lose them. But it has happened, s...

      It depends on the temperature of the place where you leave it. It is best to leave it outdoors protected from predators and scavengers. It's not a good idea to bury it.

    The two small bones between skull (main) and fanfs. I cannot figure out the orientation.. there is a small groove in each ( mine is adamantax) is the groove dorsal facing or ventral facing or is the groove/opening facing cephalad or caudal…or a combination of both. Ok. Yes I see. The answer is in 2:53 and then later in the fang attachment. The horn like portion is directed medial. The venom gland groove beginsventrally and exits dorsally to make communication with the hollow groove of the fang . One can use magic wax to check the orientation before removing magic wax and using superglue.

      Hello. Thanks! 🙂 Yes, glues are superglue for place in position, and white glue for make stronger the joins. About wire, is around 1.0 mm (as far as I remember 🤔)

    How do you put on the scapula? What bones do you connect them to and which part do you glue?

    • @GalileoRamosSkeletons
      @GalileoRamosSkeletons Місяць тому

      I place in position with superglue, and then I use white glue between the scapula and some ribs and the top of the vertebrae. I try to let some space (using the white glue as filler).
