Last week, I had the privilege of reading Higher Ground: How Business Can Do Th...

In the middle of a strike that's almost clocking two (2) months with no end in sight, it's important for us to reflect on the model of care that we desire. As a country do we want to entrust the government with the provision of healthcare services or the payment of healthcare services? Healthcare is a social service so whi...

Organizations succeed or fail based on how they are structured. With the right leadership, organizational structures and the right systems they have a better chance at succeeding. Without these, they contend with inefficiencies, are bogged down with nuances of day...

There is no institution in kenya training obsolete skills doc. From a distance I see you support Amoth. Well have all facts in consideration then . You realise it's the government that has failed. Who regulates institution? Who are policy makers? What's our population against Doctors present?. I know you know. DG Amoth should stop misleading Kenyans.
There are institutions licensed to train who do not qualify to be offering the courses. Other courses are established based on perceived positioning but aren't really correlating with the actual "Go To Market" strategy. Ultimately, you have a degree but the market isn't primed for your skills - what happens in this case? It's the responsibility of the government to regulate but in our scope to contribute to policies but we rarely take time to engage or even understand some of these policies. From Dr. Amoth's presentation, there were acknowledgement of flaws on the government side but he wouldn't openly state them being in government. The question is how to shape this conversation to ensure we clean the system. How do they work at MoH without knowing which courses are being rolled out and the number of people being trained if they are to help them transition into practice?
Insightful
Thanks doc. I hope it's of value to you

Thank you for your feedback and support doc. Much appreciated 🙏 Looking forward to your interview on this project to learn and inspire our generation with your experiences.
@@Pharmacist01 I would be delighted to share my journey and experience as a professional. Just let me know when you have time
I can attest that Dr. Sarah Vugigi is a seasoned mentor. During our industry internship days at Elys Chemicals, on most Fridays she would sit down with the interns and discuss with us the practical aspects of what we had learnt within the week in the various units and how we can correlate it to practice. As we interacted, she was able to pick and help me identify my interest in clinical practice and gave me that push I needed to consider specialising in the same. She was also able to mentor the other pharmacist in our internship cohort into regulatory affairs. She saved me the struggle and time I would have taken in identifying where my areas of interest is. I do believe it is very beneficial to have a pharmacist who has gone before you, mentor you.
Thank you for sharing this and I can confirm the value of mentorship. Having a senior to hold your hand and guide you in life is a critical and valuable journey. I've been a beneficiary of the same and the main reason behind the Footprints Project considering we haven't had an insight to the journeys of those who've gone ahead of us and may be conflicted to feel their lives were all rossy but if we get to listen in and learn from them we can have better trajectories. I hope these make a difference in the lives of many young professionals:) I look forward to having you share your perspectives and experiences as well in a future episode.
You’re welcome! I couldn’t agree more. This is a great series that gives perspective and very valuable insights for the young Pharmacist. I am looking forward to sharing as well. It will be such an honour. Keep up the great work doc!
