Jessie James / Uncle Charlie Interview / Mr Bojangles - Nitty Gritty Dirt Band (UNEDITED VERSION)
Taken directly from my vinyl lp.
I accidentally discovered that apparently this recording was the very original and uncut version of Uncle Charlie's Interview. The lp was later released with an edited version of Uncle Charlie talking, mixed with a banjo playing in the background.
I have tried to find this version on cd and also a better copy of the lp but have yet had any luck. Hopefully this will do until I am able to do so. Enjoy!

A not so well known tune, from a not so well known movie called The Earthling from 1980. Regardless, a great song. It's sung by Maureen McGovern (best known for her 1974 hit “The Morning After” from the movie The Poseidon Adventure). For entertainment purposes only. No copyright infringement intended.

My dad wrote this song along with fever ❤
"Halfway Home" appears on David Shire's CD At The Movies where Maureen sings with just a piano arrangement. That album is still available on CD and in digital form from Amazon Music. Maureen also recorded a version of the song on her own CD, Works of Heart, which appears to be much harder to find.
I didn't know how to find this song. Thank you so much for sharing data. I found it on spotify
@@JoseRicardoBetancourt Yay! BTW, if you're interested, you might be able to find the movie THE EARTHLING on DVD which includes Maureen's original version at the end titles. It was finally released in recent years.
Great movie a must see !!!!!!!
I've always been a big country and western fan. I love this song
such a pleasure to hear this again! I still have the 45 someplace. Rena sang with my grandfather's band for a time when I was little and she was always really nice to me.
Love this song.
If anyone know the year it came out, please let me know.
1969.
A very gorgeous song and quite tearjerker if you also love the movie...too bad this song has never been reissued not even to a cd i think also her we could have it all

I love her beautiful voice and this song touched my heart.
I dearly love that song
Hell yeah!! 😎 Thanks Sam
First heard this version in 1970 and it resonated with me as great country song ! Later when my first dog died this grew on me !
2023
One of the most wonderful songs in the entire universe.
If you watch the movie and get through this song with dry eyes you're one up on me. Miss McGovern is a truly a world-class talent.
This is my grandmother rena 🥹 I havnt heard her voice since she passed in 06
Maureen is famous for her movie theme career. But, "Halfway Home" was her best. Nothing like a beautiful voice singing a beautiful theme song from such a beautiful movie shot in one of the most beautiful countries on earth. Yes! Australia. Or, the Australian Outback to be more precise.
The Morning After From Irwin Allen’s The Poseidon Adventure was Produced in 1972. Irwin Allen’s The Towering Inferno was released in 1974..
One of my favorite childhood movies. Maureen is from my hometown. William is always great but Ricky was probably one of the best childhood actors I have ever seen. This movie and the remake of The Champ.
True words my friend
Ricky's performance was Oscar worthy, so was William Holden's, The other actors, not so much. Director, not so much. Ricky's parents, the pits, really yucky. That title song, I can't get out of my head for months after hearing it. Maureen McGovern, I love you. Love the movie even with the bad actors.
I just watched this horrible movie lol, could not help but think this was Georger Strait singing. Great song, great voice!
There's a log in future...there's a log in your future...YOU...YOU...YOU GET IT OUT!!!😄
*Morning After* was from 1972...
This is my daddy.. thank you so much for publishing it!!
Heard this for the first time on Sirius radio plus an interview with him.... such a beautiful song one of new favorite songs for the season thanks.
A very great movie.
I loved this song
Very sad movie and song
Just saw a movie and this song was on it, I had to add it to my song list
Beautiful song. The movie "Bobbie and the outlaws" brought me here.
Thank you for sharing! This movie was one of the few foreign language movies I watched during my childhood in China. It left a profound impact on me: the people, the nature, the spirit. Back then I didn’t know yet that two decades later I would move to Australia and became her adopted child. This is a country with people of down to earth kindness, just as people in my mother land China. What I might say though is the indigenous spirit might have not been celebrated in the movie but Australia has come along a long way to create her own unique cultural identity with the blessings of her First Nation people, diverse immigrants and boundless landscape. I still have tears of gratitude listening to this song, knowing that I was half way to my other home then without realising. Thanks again.
Such a versatile voice!
Thanks for posting. Great song!!
Saya suka sekali lagu ini... Mantap
Great country song, love it. ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you so posting this formerly unfamiliar track. It is a special track and up there with her best recordings. She sings such magic into music.
I finally found a variation of the song. I first heard it covered on the ultra rare Holy Spirit Choir album and wondered who did the original.
Great song, I thought I had most of Bobby Bare's material but I was watching the film and lo and behold another song I'm missing of his! Thanks for posting this
was "City Lights" Bare's only song in the movie? I was thinking there were two songs. let me know, someone?
love this song!!!!! I saw Rena Faye perform at the Shawen Inn in Hebron/Mardela ? decades ago. Such a pleasant, country voice. I thought she was wonderful and seemed to be such a super nice gal! So sorry to hear she is no long with us.
Thanks Jerry @Jerry Banks ,,, May I get the full lyrics... Thanks Again
Love Bobby Bare
it's my favorite movie ever
Is this song still under copyrights or did it fall into the public domain?
I highly doubt a team of Jack Keller & Ernie Sheldon, using Colgems as a Publisher, would allow that to happen.
Very nice but not purely instrumental.
Touching and powerful - thanks Jerry
Just watched the Earthling again for the first time in many years. Made me cry all over again. In Holden’s biography it said that he didn’t drink at all during the making of the movie because of Schroeder’s young age. They both indulged in ice cream instead and bonded closely.
Firstly, this is a beautiful & VASTLY underrated song from some 40 years ago now (perhaps because the movie wasn't very well received). And I'm pretty SURE the duo bonded, as yrs later, Schroder would name was first born son: Holden!
Maureen McCormick, Linda Ronstadt, Whitney Houston, and a few others have or had such beautiful voices. You don't really hear voices like that these days anymore.
Maureen McGovern and Celine Dion... Great singers with angelical voices, how I`d love to see them in person!
Classic. Lol..I bet it was funny as hell.
So beautiful
I've been searching for this for years. Why don't they play it at Christmas anymore?
