      It does make things a bit more challenging but you want to try and be roughly level in general when digging. But the short answer is no it shouldn’t. The height is based on the boom being plum so that height doesn’t really change even if the machine does a bit

    Doing a bit of this myself. Nice. Curious, wouldn't thr skid steer do just a nice of a job?

    • @IRZ09xX
      @IRZ09xX 24 дні тому

      Well yes and no. A box blade is the best tool for the job, its entire purpose is to spread and level dirt. It would be like using a wrench to drive a nail in a 2x4. Yes the wrench will drive a nail but a hammer would do the job a bit better.

    • @danielmount-km1pp
      @danielmount-km1pp 22 дні тому

      Eh I more relate it to a nail gun to a hammer. Nothing like beating a 16 penny in with a hammer but easier on the body to use a nail gun an smaller nails. So much easier on the body running a skid steer and can get the job done just as good if not better, especially with some experience. Constantly looking over your shoulder using the box blade is hell on your back over the years. But there’s nothing like backing that thing up and putting a perfect grade down first pass. You constantly tinker with a skid steer

    • @dirty.diggers

    • @dirty.diggers
      @dirty.diggers 2 місяці тому

      No the driveways were in with gravel. Then one day a paving company comes in and paves like 50 or more per day so they can do a huge subdivision like this in 2-3 days. But us digging these trenches was sort of unprecedented. It’s a new thing they incorporated on those houses in that subdivision. It’s not normal.

    On some of the grease seals there is a spring in it to keep it tight on the shaft. If it is one that has a spring in it you need to pack it with grease before pounding it in. This will keep the spring in place when the force or shock from the hammer hits it to drive it in. Good job.

      Yeah exactly! It would be very tough to custom match the exact same new paint. Even the gallon I ended up making, I just used a little from the spray paint on a scrap piece of metal so they could colour match it pretty close. Should have just done the gallon from the beginning lol

    Did you shoot points on it to be sure the water is flowing correctly? It honestly looks like that back area where all the sod is will pool in the center in many areas and/or flow towards the houses.

    • @dirty.diggers
      @dirty.diggers 3 місяці тому

      No we don’t typically shoot unless it’s close. We do thousands of homes a year and have a pretty good eye for getting the grades right, as well as bench marks like the heights at the house and grade stakes at the rear. This grade is designed to be lowest in the middle of the yard, and then slope to the side yards and out to the street from there. Very rarely the drainage doesn’t work, and that’s usually due to some type of problem with the building where we can’t achieve enough slope.

    I sold mine after 100 hours. The machines are built too short for the tracks lacking power like all of them right now the machine will pop a wheelie on steep grade. Easy to maintenance definitely but to light in the front because of that. If you know you know would not buy another Kubota they've had so many issues. Do not like how the cab is set up. A cup holder is behind your right shoulder. If you miss a button on the code by accident, you have to start all over the window. Hit you in the back coming when you're coming out. There's no way to close the window from outside the cab

    • @dirty.diggers
      @dirty.diggers 3 місяці тому

      I agree with you on some of that for sure. The cupholder placement I did end up making a story about. Don’t think I noticed that during this video. The door can be a bit annoying to close on the way out for sure, but I wouldn’t trade that minor inconvenience for the overall design of the door going overhead. As for the balance, I only got about 50-60 hours on it right now. But I never found that an issue with the other svl 75-2 machines we had. Have you used the older model Kubota?
