Breaking in the gx470!
Here's what happens when your buddy talks you into going down a steep hill into a creek bottom. Thanks to a v8 under the hood I was able to make it through the slop with Nitto Ridge Grapplers.

👍👍👍
This is exactly what I want to do to 1995 f150!
Thank you I appreciate it, what all is involved for the swap is it a pretty simple process to do
If you don't mind me asking how did you get it to work with the computer
A manual injection cummins requires 1 wire to make it run. The computer was left as it was from the factory- no interface neccessary.
How did you get it to work with the ecu computer

Do you still have the truck and is/was it good to you, any problems ?
Still have it, sold the 4bt though. I plan to put a 5 liter coyote back in it. Got tired of hearing the ole rattle trap.
@@motivatedbyhaters85 ah ha, thats why I got rid of my 92 W350 a few years ago. Now I am contemplating a 4bt in my jeep j10 or a hemi, the LS swap has been overdone. A hemi 5 spd would be sick? The coyote is good but the later ones are plagued with problems. What about an old school 5.0 that were in fox body mustang
Awesome truck
One helluva beauty f150 man you gotta instagram I'd love to follow the build
Thanks Demetrius! I have an instagram but dont have any of the build process on there, or any pics of the F150. I recently sold the Cummins engine from the truck and am looking to swap a 5.0 Coyote engine in.
Do you still have this truck now? If so hows it held up over the years? Kicking around ideas with my 92 extended cab
Still have it, pulled the engine and sold it though. Planning on putting a Coyote motor in it. 4bt rattles worse than a 6bt ever thought about rattling- just wasn't for me.
What’s the wheel/tire set up you’re running?
Those were 15x10s with 35x12.50 coopers.
Whats your 0-60?
I have never timed it, but am sure it is slightly slower than a 6bt w/ an automatic.
Any videos of your old f150?
Unfortunately not. Been busy building a shop, need to show the old Ford a little love!
@@motivatedbyhaters85 understand! I can't wait to see it when you get the chance!
We're you able to use your cruise control with this swap? I'm thinking of doing this to me 94 and I do a lot of highway driving to get to work.
I think you could, it is just a vaccum diaphragm that pulls a cable if I am not mistaken. Are you looking for a 4bt?
@@motivatedbyhaters85 I'm thinking of either restoring my 5.0 or the 4bt. The 4bt has fuel efficiency and higher reliability which appeal to me.
@@motivatedbyhaters85 92 are vacuum, 93+ are computer controlled servos
A truly dream truck - congrats on a beautifully made conversion!!!!!!!!!!
How is your mpg
Tavo C from what I’ve seen on these motors about 25 mpg
So we have a DBF squadron channel now. Hope to load some sweet vids soon.
Where is DBF squadron located? Might I know you ?
nice job nice truck its all great AND thats right if you wanted a 7.3 you would have done that but NO you built an awesome truck 5 thumbs up keep going dont stop
Do you have any info on how to wire it up to make all gauges work?
Are those stock mirrors if not where did you get them?
Yes, they are stock.
I do love this truck !
Larry Mulalley preciate it!
Are the f150 springs in short side forward or to the rear? Just asking cause the long side is the same length as a chevy 63" from eye to center pin.
John Emery Short side to the rear for best departure angle. I love those springs, they are super soft.
motivatedbyhaters85 Thanks for the reply. I wanted to do this as well. Some say they dont flex as well backwards. Do you notice any problems with it? I have been considering s-10 springs because they are 54 in and close to centered pin.
John Emery what vehicle are you planning on running them on? These springs are my favorite thus far, and I’ve had 63” chevys, xj rears and toyota springs. I prefer a spring with an offset pin, gives you a chance to get better apprch/dept angles. Only thing I will say negative about these are the fact that they do have a lot of arch to them, thus making the vehicle tall.
motivatedbyhaters85 i am looking to put them on an 84 Toyota pickup. I like the arch cause it will help match the front height as it has 37 in tires and I need to keep it street legal. If i can get 3 to 3.5 in of lift it should clear 37 fine with a little trimming.
John Emery oh yeah, they will give you at least 3.5”
awesome
Looks like some tough stuff there man. Sweet skills. Nice vid.
MidWest MX Thanks man! I am uploading some better footage now, with less saplings and more speed lol.
motivatedbyhaters85 looking forward to more footage man. Just subbed 👍
Super cool! Awesome!
Han Skinslo Thanks man!
how bad are the vibrations at idle?
kelly hanlon Lol, terrible. The 6bt is a much smoother running engine.
motivatedbyhaters85 that's what slowing me down. I have a dodge with a 12v but the wife has a clean 94 suburban with 78k but mileage sucks. it's not a 3/4 ton so I can justify the cost of the 5.9 when it isn't gonna tow. but 10mpg and 16 highway is not fun
kelly hanlon Shitty fuel economy is what started this project.
can someone tell me what is the adapter and flywheel number for my 1995 ford f150 truck?
marcelo delgado Contacting “Diesel Conversion Specialists”would probably be your best bet. They are a company that sells all sorts of parts to aid in swapping diesels into gas trucks.
ok thanks
Is it possible to use the 6bt instead of the 4
anthony hayes Sure is. Just a lot less room between the engine and radiator.
motivatedbyhaters85 my cuz has a 1990 Ford costume 4x4 with the i6 300 I planing on buying from him he saying it’s got a rod knock but not sure sure because I didn’t hear it and if you know fords then you know just as well as I do you can’t kill the inline 6 300 Ford made any how I am thinking about rebuilding the engine and save some cash and swap with the 6bt I love the sound of the Cummins but the truck is also automatic and I am definitely swapping it to for two reasons one Cummins sounds like shit with a auto and two I hate auto but I will probably regret saying that in the next 40 or so years any tips for the motor mounts and tranny I can use
And thanks for Sharing man new sub
motivatedbyhaters85 oh and what about the fuel tank just curious will a diesel sending unit fit in the thing
anthony hayes Diesel conversion specialist sell a kit to swap a 4/6bt in. I would recommend that route. I didnt know about the kit when i built mine but it would have saved alot of time. As far as the sending unit goes I modified the stock gas units. I simply removed the pump and made a pick up tube to go in its place. The injection pump sucks from the tank, no need for an electric pump. A p series pump can suck hard enough to support 600 hp from the factory. Hope this helps. I like my manual trans but I dont drive it daily.....got a dmax for that lol. Best advice I can give is that a 4bt is a noisy bitch, 6 bt is a much smoother engine.
how long did it take you to complete the swap. This truck is beautiful. Id love one like it.
Max Cheramie Thanks Max! It took me about 3 months working every night and weekend to do the complete conversion.
if you ever decide to sell it; let me know.
so sexey
Love this truck! You still driving it?
Dirtworx77 Between getting married, building a house and taking over a business in the last year, the ole girl hasnt got near as much love as Id liked to have given her. I have intentions of getting back on her soon tho. Just a few minor tweaks and she should be primed and ready!
motivatedbyhaters85 congrats on the marriage and the house! I know how a project is when priorities kick in. Maybe one day I can put away enough money to put a 4BT in my 96 f150 OBS. Good luck on the build, and keep us updated!
Thanks for the wishes man, I will get back on it soon I hope.
Very nice truck I am a ford may through and through but it's hard to beat a Cummins they r just good motors also what size lift ru running I'm about to lift my 96 f150 Ana put 35s on it and I wanna know a lift that I'm not hacking my truck up to fit them
Thanks man! Roughly 6" on 35' tires and no clearance issues at all, plenty of room between the tire and fender/ bumper
motivatedbyhaters85 that's the size lift I was thinking do u think a 5 inch would fit the 35s cuz I've been told the 4 u have to trim and I don't wanna cut my truck all up
Jake thequadrunnersnake I would definitely say that 35s will work with a 5" lift. Worst case if it dosent, throw a 1" body lift on there...
motivatedbyhaters85 yea that's what I was thinking I mean sometimes I look and I think there is a big gap between the wheel and finders then some look ok that way I guess it depends on the truck and set up I guess
I've considered this swap but was concerned about the vibration of the 4bt. Does it shake while idling much. Truck looks awesome the best looking ford truck body Style ever built.
Kelly Shockley I wad considering it as well, but now i have decided on a Mercedes OM606. It is a DOHC 6 cyl, so a lot smoother and revs over 5k rpm stock, so you don't have to regear. You can use the mechanical pump from an OM603 and if desired get it built to your desired power lever for about 1000. Trans adapters are avaliable, you will need an OM648 rear sump pan and pickup. By my calculations the total cost will be about the same.
Kelly Shockley Thanks for the compliment Kelly! Thats a good point, and to answer your question, YES it vibrates alot. I used the best engine mounts I could and it still shakes alot. Most people don't consider that the harmonics of the 4bt are way worse than the 6bts. Seems like the extra two cylinders smooth out the engine on a 6bt. For this reason I have considered putting a mildly built 300 inline 6 back in this truck.
We put one in a toyota T100 that had a v6 in it. 44 mpg now.
Now I'd love to see that! Awesome.
Nice truck! What lift do you have?
Carl Saiyed Thanks man! Not really a lift per say... The axles are from a 79 f150, custom radius arms and 6" lift coils from a 93 model 2wd f150. The rear is just blocks and add a leafs.
Whats your thoughts 4bt vs 12v for a 93 f150? The only direct conversion I can find is for the 4bt but I feel the 12v would be better all around
Habeas J The 6bt would be a tight fit! Also I would have to ask what u were gonna use the truck for? If u need a 6bt for extra power to pull a 15 thousand pound trailer lets say, u would probably wanna consider an f350 for the conversion. Regaurdless of the engine u use a f150 is still a light duty truck.
motivatedbyhaters85 I plan on towing but not THAT much. Is the horsepower and torque better or comparable to the stock engine? I wouldn't mind having extra power and towing power than I currently have but I obviously dont want it to be lower
Habeas J The 4bt makes much better power than the 90s era 351 did for towing, my engine had 76k on it when i pulled it out. Honestly I would rather have a 4.9 inline six than a 302 or 351 for pulling.
I have some questions looking at doing same thing how could I get ahold of you offline?
dylanpeeters8 post ur email address and I will send you my phone number, then u could delete ur post i guess.

very nice sharp truck awesome build
what happened to the 4BT f150?
Peter Forastiere I still have it Peter, I just havent given it much love lately unfortunately. I am trying to gather money now to build a shop so I can put it under the knife again. It needs a few things and I dont want to be rushed on it. My dad is nice enough to let me use his shop, but i cant really leave it dismantled for weeks on end in his garage like I need to in order to fix it.
Bad as hell. Beautiful truck.
OFFRD Thanks man!
how's the mpg?
Probably over 30 mpg. Maybe over 40 mpg.
How much did it roughly cost, I have the same truck and I have been wanting to do the swap for a few years.
500AWHP VR4-GALANT To do it right ud need 5-10k
Thank you, that's not bad
this is awesome. I have a 94 f150 with the 300 straight 6, but I really want to do a cummins conversion. debating on the 4bt or the 5.9. was the 4bt a pretty easy swap?
the inline 6 Cummins motor will fit inside that year I put one in mind didn't have to cut any of the body on it at all
Thanks man, this was my grandpas once upon a time.
Nice truck my grandpa has the same truck color and everything but the cummins
Awesome build
this is awesome! inherited a 95 f150 and am wanting to do the same thing. I'm in the same boat as you, if I wanted a 7.3 I'd go buy one, nobody can tell us what OUR trucks are worth to us
Wow, very nice truck
whats the total cost for the engine swap? i have a 96 bronco im thinking about swapping to a 4bt.
Id say if you were looking to buy a good rebuilt engine and all the odds and ends to do the swap you would have $6k in it easily.
+motivatedbyhaters85 ok, thanks, might cheaper for me to get its 302 running till it calls it quits and then do a swap
+deuceblank Prob so man, honestly its a lot more work than i ever imagined. Ive built several off roading trucks and other projects and this one was far more time and labor intensive.
Thanks for answering a question that I've been asking for so long without an answer. Looking to convert my '93 F350 CCLB in the next couple years. Yours looks amazing!!!
Badass!
