GM 12 Bolt Spartan Locker- Drum Brakes- 1967 Chevy C10 Build Series
Переглядів 1502 місяці тому
In todays video, I dig into the GM 12 bolt rear axle on project McMurray, my 1967 Chevrolet C10 short box. The spider gears in the carrier are completely worn out from all the one wheel burnouts. I removed the spider gears and install a Spartan Locker. This inexpensive upgrade will solve two problems, worn out parts and weak burnouts. Once the locker is in, I finished the rear end off with some...

First Time Polishing - 2005 GMC Sierra - Machnik Garage
love it i have one just like it
It’s a great machine! Unfortunately the trails closed a week after I brought it home.
It's referred to a as check engine light delete😂
I knew I had a CEL but now the dash is a Christmas tree
I run 12 PSI Smoother ride and less chance of puncture. Also tend to wear more even.
I’ll have to give that a try
Nice machine!
Thank you!
I have a 79 f150 with a inline 6 how hard is the ls swap !? Any info/guidance would be appreciated
Check out my other videos. I’ve got most of the install on my channel as far as transmission and engine mounts. Ls/4l60E fit in these trucks very well.
Wife got good taste! 😎👍
She wants it done yesterday!
Stock chassis
Yes. It’ll work just fine for our use.
S10 swap just to much work ill rather box the oem frame amd 4 link it @machnikgarage
From what I’ve heard the s10 frames are a little narrow for the body.
never seen a 67 with the big back window is it some special model
The small window was standard but could be ordered with a big window. They called it panoramic cab equipment option #4A10AA.
As far as the trucks goes, u have 6 in one hand and a half a dozen in the other because their both rough.
In my area this is good condition
Well I watched this waiting to see the engine swap. Lol
You put some low profile tires on there it's going to put you right where you want to be
I e got some picked out and can’t wait to get them on
@@machnikgarage I can dig it.
I need mounts ino ASAP
I’m not sure what that means
I think he's asking for mount info...I just started buying LS parts for a '79 supercab I picked up. Bought a set of '73-'79 F150 LS swap engine & transmission mounts off eBay from a shop called Vintage4x4.
I’m a millennial, born in 84, all my boys and I always had a 5 speed. I’d call it the gen z anti theft device
5 speed is the way to go in just about everything.
@@machnikgarage yup
Here is a question, as the truck is not level is there a little oil remaining in the oil pan? If there is I would think the oil new oil filter would pick up any metals or grime in the little oil that remains.
The oil drain plug is at the rear of the pan. With the front of the truck elevated it helps get as much oil out as possible.
Good got same set up looks good
I thought it was too much at first but I’m comin around to it.
You have all your patch panels in the green cab, woohoo
Unfortunately the green cab had many of the same issues. It got re-homed. We also wanted to keep the original cab even though it will be TONS of work.
The alignment for the mustang clip is the upper two bolts on the A arm any alignment shop can aligne it for you. But get your rear suspension in first.
Sometimes the hard part is finding a shop willing to work on something custom.
Excellent job now you're truckin
Thank you
She sure is a keeper
Back to ya again and I am looking for a 58 pickup truck or panel to put on a 2002 4X4 Chevy trailblazer frame and rock and roll
I have heard of that swap. I like the idea of a modern suspension with readily available parts.
Im a new subscription and I am watching you guys from South Dakota keep it going 😊
The 55 will be coming back soon!
Any follow ups since this video was done? You doing anything else with the cab? Did the window fit well? Thanks for your videos. Jay G
I will be getting back to the 55 soon. There is plenty of rust to repair/replace. Even going to make custom floor pans.
@@machnikgarage That is another area I need to work at on my 56 Cameo barn find i recently bought. Your videos are a big help for those of just starting metal working . You are definitely a body guy! Also, showing the tools you use is a big help. Thanks. JG
Does both cabs are big windows 😍
We've been using a wooden beam and placing it through the door openings to lift the cabs. Place the cherry picker arm in the center and lift straight up. Works great.
I know this is a late reply but it appears that the upper section of the cab is completely rotted out from the inside out between the steel.panels above the back glass as well as above the windshield. Also the upper door pillars look to be rusted out on the inside where you can't access it. This is likely too extensive to repair with aftermarket patch panels but a donor cab would be ideal and an experienced metal fabricator could save this cab. The bottom of the cab can be repaired with readily available patch panels. Another thing I noticed is the stainless steel VIN tag is missing. I suspect a previous owner used the truck asva VIN tag donor due to the fact that the entire upper section of the cab is completely rotted out and will require more work and money than is feasible. The previous owner sold the truck with this in mind. Not impossible but definitely for an extremely ambitious and motivated truck lover. The most important aspect of any classic truck is the cab and specifically the upper section of the cab around the windshield, door pillars and inaccessible body seams!!! If these sections are rotted out either pass on the truck or plan to spend a ton of time, expertise and money to repair it.
It is crusty but I’m going to save it. I do have to vin plate from this cab. Check out the other build videos on this 55!
454 just got stuck
What’s it in?
Sorry, Bin the Both of them
You put the 2nd washer in the wrong spot, it goes in the recess in the clutch cover, not between the splined clutch plate and the spider gear
When I start assembling the axle I will be pulling it all apart again to fix it. Thank you for letting me know!
@machnikgarage sorry, I wasn't trying to be critical.. but I had just taken mine apart... before I commented, I looked at the ford assembly drawing to be sure.
No worries. I appreciate the input and I would rather fix it before i figure out the hard way that it is assembled wrong.
Wow the Engine really looks good with the dress up kit, i keep think i'm seeing a visor on the truck, lol, you might have something there, i just shortened the frame on the 55 Truck and had my neighbor help me put the bed on, now i'm up early and need to take the bed back off, guess i have to wait for him to get up, makes me think about how you were able to pull yours off by yourself, has anyone ever said it's easy to shorten a bed and frame, ha ha, have a great day😁😁 Mike DRF
I saw the hood looks like a visor the other day. Kinda looks sweet. I’ve got an extra long bed for my 55 also. It’s in much better shape than my short bed and have thought about making it into a short bed.
@@machnikgarage I have about five videos and one I put out yesterday on the frame, the next one is going to be where everything comes together, good stuff😁😁
I will check it out!
I think your crossmember is upside down.
It would hang pretty low if I flipped it
I need to do the exact job on my 1956 Cameo truck. What company did you buy the parts from? I really appreciated your video. I'm not a body guy , but will learn from this project. I learned alot from your video. Thanks. Jay G
Parts are from lmctruck.com. It’s really not difficult just very time consuming. At first I didn’t think I needed to do the outside piece but it was paper thin so if one is rusted out I would be willing to bet the other is almost there. Take your time and you’ll get it!
@@machnikgarage Thank You!!
Chrome don't get you home, but it does get you laid.
Thair is never to much chrome
Chrome goes well with rust
Im one of those that love chrome. That engine looks awesome. Now to much added chrome on the body i dont like.
There won’t be much of that
If it dont go,, chrome it
It’s gotta add at least 5 hp
Nope need to chrome the engine compartment to. Some 200 watt leds all set.😂
Does chrome come in a spray can?
Chrome gets u dome not home
So chrome everything?
I dont like it because it holds heat
I have not heard of that
Let’s make the whole car chrome
That’s a great idea
Need to polish that aluminum intake
I’d like that but talk about time consuming
By the time you get your hoses and sparkplug wires, it's going to be beautiful.
Very true. The headers will be stainless so hopefully it will all balance out.
If its slow just put some more chrome on it,,,at least the chicks will still dig it.
How manny hp’s is chrome worth?
Can’t have too much Crome
There is room for more
This is the only time I think chrome looks good. Shiny engine in a “rust bucket”
I was worried it was going to be too much. One day there will be less rust.
Another rebuild by Bobby and the Billy Bros. 😂
Tail light warranty

Wow you like to have a few projects going at the same time, looking good, looks like a Pioneer Super Tuner, had a few of them over the years, have a great weekend😁😁
Are project vehicles ever really done? haha
The good old rattle can rebuild
I might just rebuild it again… hahaha
Where did you source motor mounts? Got a 78 sitting here looks identical to your 77 that I’m toying with throwing a 6.0 LQ4 in that I have sitting here originally for my Camaro.
They are universal ls mounts. I got them with a project vehicle I bought but I would think speedway motors would have them.
That went very well, did you ever go over and check out Glen at Red Neck Coachworks it’s a must see if you are goin to be doing a lot of rust repair on a tri 5 truck
It’s on my list of things to watch
Hey guy, just found ur channel ! Hey we done my sons 55 p.up about 5 yrs ago I used the Urethane 2k High Build primer & paint on it putting it together & painting the Truck, for the Money he can't beat it, it still looks good like the day we painted it ! Just wanted to tell ya, all about the $$$ 😂
I do think we will be looking at painting the truck. Not really into the look of every panel being a different color.
