@Alg0_Magenta Nice! That was actually my second, first for me was a full odds Mudbray... After I missed a Tropius that I failed because I never knew about the lack of shiny sound and sparkles 😢 Only spotted it while editing my original living dex video

@@aniklarocque7992 I love it when stuff like that happens, I treat like little trophies for completing whatever task I've set myself at the time 😆 I had something similar happen with a Masuda ditto I was breeding with while I was collecting every alcremie form and one of the spare eggs hatched shiny!

There was a good mix depending on the risks, the most useful were the obvious False Swipe, Taunt is good for moves like Memento as well as Substitute, Floral Healing and Heal Pulse are also good if Pokémon have recoil moves or start to struggle, hope that helps 👍☺️

@liorkurtak5024 No specific Pokémon really, other than Breloom, which is useful as a Spore user to put Pokémon to sleep consistent, forgot to mention that 😅 Need to keep it as a Shroomish until it learns Spore and then you can let it evolve since it can't learn it otherwise 🙃

@@bren_boigames2901 I reset until I had a raid that gave me Herba Mystica as a reward, then, using my other switch, I kept defeating it, resetting the game that had the raid until I had all the Herbs I needed... Hope that makes sense 🤞

True, and I guess it just speaks to what people want out of a hunt... Older games are great for having the story of a journey tied to each shiny along with them just being rarer and more desirable. But it is also nice to go on bigger hunts without it taking up close to a year of my life as well 😅 Admittedly I would like the next games to strike a nicer balance though, bringing back a little bit of that rarity factor 🤞

@Paneye I am pretty biased since those are my favorite Pokémon games but Imho Sword/Shield got that balance right with the shy charm. I know a lot of people disagree due to the lack of special mechanics in those games to boost the odds past charm chances or Masuda. But I think that lack of extra method makes it right. Shinies were supposed to be rare and grindy; now legendary shinies and rare to get Pokémon in general are just being given out as event gifts or straight up sold for special research tickets in PoGO... They are not meaningful and I'm having a hard time finding joy in owning those. The 1/1.3k chance with charm in Sw/Sh is more than reasonable. On average it's taking me about 6 hrs per shiny. That's doable. Even if I'm hardstuck on one, it usually doesn't take too long, all things considered. I believe my longest hunt so far was about 48hrs on some DA legendary

@mewnicorn922 That's a based take, and honestly I agree 👍 They're the closest we've had since the DS era and I think they've struggled to find a balance with the introduction of overworld shinies... But... And I acknowledge this might be a hot take 😅 The Lets Go games did better in this regard, they still forced you to get encounters if you wanted to improve the odds, still giving a method hunt, and weren't ridiculously fast. I just wish the overall games were better 🙃 If I'm not using Masuda in SwSh then I'll usually be hunting in Lets Go... But I also have an origin rule, so once I'm done with Gen 1 & 8 Pokémon I'll be done with those games 😢

@@Paneye Tbf I don't think Let's GO was bad. I do like the encounter method and much easier to keep track of the encounter number on top. I personally just don't like hatching eggs, I prefer encounter in SwSh or soft resetting; the loading screen is pretty fast in those games (unlike BDSP... that shiny Piplup sure does feel special after 1min 38 sec per loading screen + cutscene QQ). I just don't the random encounter method at all and while overworld shinies are nice, there's this OMG!!!! factor I'm missing that I get when I randomly encounter my target in SwSh and it's shiny. That being said, I do love the little sparkles around the shiny in Let's Go. The sparkle sound in PLA is also fine, I just don't like PLA as a game but that's a whole other topic :c
