I met Matthew Ridge at my father inlaw and mother inlaws house in Panmure. I actually went to school with Matthew Ridge and Rob O'Brien at Auckland Grammar when that taxi driver incident went down... I also went to Remuera Intermediate with Rob O'Brien and knew him quite well, despite moving in different circles. At Auckland Grammar Matthew was a notorious bully and considered an absolute prick by everyone who wasn't in the First 15 or one of their sycophants. The reason why Matthew got away with being such an arsehole at high school is because he was the darling of the rugby fraternity at Auckland Grammar and at Grammar nothing was bigger than first 15 rugby, as we an ex All Black captain as a headmaster, namely DJ Graham.

I still maintain, they let Ivan go too soon. I believe if he a had a season or two more with Noddy and SJ, the Warriors would've won it all. But the higher-ups threw all their eggs in on SJ alone and it didn't work. One of the most frustrating things has been that the Warriors recruit well but suck at when they let people go.
