I don't understand why so many people against gamers so badly. When in reality movies, music and any kind form entertainment can be a waste of time as well. Reason why ? People say video games are a waste of time, because not all gamers make money and some people think all they do is sit there, and only has video games as a hobby and don't want to do other things in life. It's the same with movies, tv shows, music, and other entertainment as well. This doesn't apply to all gamers. I really love video games but I'm not complete addict who only 24/7 game all the time. I do music, I game, I can make coffee (barista), I manage my online e-commerce stores, I exercise, I socialize. So for these trend quitting video games are for losers, who only has one hobby who only play video games and do nothing else. This doesn't applies to me and you guys have to stop with this nonsense trend. Tell People who watch movies, tv shows, and music people, and you will bring more people going against you..

Yeah, you're right. People should always be doing stuff to improve themselves. Who needs a break to have some fun with something they enjoy? This is why I also believe people should never watch movies, television, UA-cam, listen to music, or even look at art! I mean, that's a waste of time, right? There's no point in chilling sometimes; you're just wasting your life.

hey, sorry for the late answer, thanks for your comment, i’m really sorry if it sounds like I condemn any type of enjoyment - that’s definitely not what I was trying to say. I think that moderation is a very powerful tool to live a healthy life, but most young people, including myself, are so prone to modern day addictions that the best way to make your life better is to reduce the time your spending on social media/video games in order to improve yourself. if you are able to control yourself with these things - I really think you have found the right way to deal with it. that was not possible for me, unfortunately. and I think that many people face similar problems. have a blessed day🙏🏻

My only problem with this is that you don't actually need to completely quit video games. I used to be VERY addicted to video games. I got older and my parents controlled my hours less and less. So same story as you. I did it all the time, hours on end. However, I still got good grades in school, and I decided to go to college. This is when I knew I needed to control myself. I started playing less and less and escaped my addiction. When I have done all of my homework, my roommates or friends don't want to go out, and when I have friends online, that's when I play video games. So as someone who conquered my addicted and turned it into a reward system, I disagree with you that everyone needs to completely quit video games. I know guys with kids and a full time job who still enjoy playing video games with their friends ever so often. If you are able to control yourself, and know when and when not to play video games, then that is a much bigger sign of maturity then quitting something you love doing because you can't control yourself. Obviously if you have absolutely no self control, then by all means go to the extreme and quit. Because you need to learn self control before you learn pacing. But in my experience as a full time college student who works and still hangs out with friends and family, you do NOT need to quit video games completely. If I get frustrated at a game, I just get off and take a break. Again, self control. I too was a very angry gamer, but I learned self control. I hope this helps everyone who is in this situation. Video games are awesome, but not worth spending 5 hours a day on. When you have time on a weekend, get some snack foods, drinks, and your fav blanket and load up a story game on your computer. Something that is enjoyable but not anger inducing like many FPS games are. Learn to use video games as a reward system. If you have completed all of your homework and chores, reward yourself with an hour or two of games with your best friend. Don't turn it into an every day thing that ruins your dopamine levels. I go to the gym 3x a week either by myself or with my roommate/friend. I don't get drunk on Friday nights, I don't do drugs, I don't watch porn. Those things are 10x worse than video games and far FAR more difficult to escape an addiction from. Video games aren't the problem, you are. Pace and control yourself.

It's not enough that videogames are a time sink, they've become predatory these days. I'm talking Microtransactions, DLC, etcetera. There are so many these days competing for attention, and will do anything to get yours. I grew up playing games, and I'm a firm believer that they are good in moderation - they actually do help the brain with hand-eye coordination, tactics, bc problem solving. It's not a complete loss playing them. However, I think there's a point of diminishing returns that comes quicker than the time it takes for us to choose to power off the console. Adults will brag about how many games they finished, and as a responsible adult myself, I just wonder where they get the time. I'm a mom, a wife, I have a vegetable garden, chickens, a job, with creative and tech hobbies. I play games these days only enough times to count on one hand in an entire year. My peers sit and play for sometimes 20 hrs straight. Sometimes I feel like I am missing out on the next big thing, and I get a little sad I don't get to tear into it like they do... But then I remember I have a beautiful home, a beautiful family of my own, fresh eggs and produce every day, and a workshop where I can build my skills and create lasting art. Departing gaming was bittersweet for me, but I can't stand the idea of trapping my success in a cartridge that will never touch reality and will never contribute to my resume or life's work. Thank you for this video

you are absolutely right! moderation is the key, but many people (including myself) could not control their consumerism, so you have to decide on what's more important. Really glad you are having a good life and are happy, hope everything goes well for you in the future, stay safe😊

@@NikTheUnique thank you for the reply, I agree, for some folks, abstaining is the only way. It's just like NA or AA. Someone close to me has had drug addiction problems, and was in NA, the temptation of the substance being there is enough to cause a relapse in addiction, so fully quitting is the only way for the people wired in that way. Getting rid of it all the responsible thing to do in that case, I wholeheartedly agree. I wish the best to you and your endeavors, and to the people here reading this right now. I keep on hearing these phrases. Everything in moderation and life is about balance. With all due respect but people who come out with phrases like these to others, who wish to quit gaming have absolutely no understanding or experience of addiction and how it can take over one’s life. Try to understand, everyone’s personality is different. Your personality and gaming habits are not the same as mine.

@@GenkiStarLeaf well... maybe it comes from experience. I am a gamer. I used to spent all my free time playing video games and binging anime and TV shows. Neglecting important things. I know about addiction. Today I still play video games but my life is more balanced. It didn't happen instantly it takes time. Nobody said it was easy it takes discipline and self restraint. All I say is that you can't go from an extreme of playing too much video games to not playing at all like that and there is nothing evil or harmful about playing them. If so many people talk about moderaration maybe it's because it works for them.

I've been playing vidoe games since I was 10, I have a bachelor's in aeronautical science, a wife, a house, a business, a kid on the way and i am finishing up my pilots license, and I still play when I have time, i think its all based on personality, I love playing but I also know I need balance in my life

Im all for self improvement and all that shit but this is such a skewed and flawd way of looking at things. First of all are you against instant gratification, waste of time or just time lost not improving your other skills. Or is it all of the above. I love that people have something defined in their life, lets call it purpouse. Be that to socialise, to be with friend and family, to build your mind and soul so you are one with nature or yourself whatever. But talking like you should quit video games as soon as possible cuz you are wasting time. Time for what? Time to build a skill in some job that you will do for money that you wont enjoy in 5 years in your boring life, at the age of what? 10? 15? When is it best to give your soul to capitalism? Ofc you can take that time and ivest in yourself, self improvement is the most important thing in my opinion but whoah thats my opinion. Some people lets be honest are contempt with themselves and just dont need that; be that they are one with themselves(fucking hardest thing in life) or just plain and simple dont have the capability to think like that and living in ignorance is called bliss for a reason. Then we have instant gratification, i get it from food also, from social gatherings, from board games, from sports, from so many things its not possible to put them in one comment. Does that mean i shouldnt indulge in those things. Everything can be bad for you. Make you addicted and screw up your brain but what would be life without all that. Boring. Then you are not taking into account all the positives. Not all children and adults have the capability and opportunities to make new friends and interact with others just like that. To just say its a waste of time is such a shame its a shame cuz i have so many memories with my friends while playing games. Funny ones, wholesome memmories, meeting new people. I dont know in what world i would be friends with some if it wasnt for games. Thats like saying knifes are so bad, they kill people, they fucking kill people. But then domt mention what they also do from cooking to self defence to idk what people being obsessed with cooking and their knifes and it just brings them joy. You can dedicate for yourself to make as much money as you want or for that reason fucking do anything but pushing it to all people like its the right choice is not it. All things are bad in excess l, moderation is key and pushing an agenda that you should stop doing something as soon as possible because you idk what you want clicks or just think like that is plain wrong. I dont have negative feeling towards you and i dont think this is end all thing to do but come on. Im sorry if you said in one segment something that completely negates all my arguments i just skimmed through the video lik 70 percent but that cant be a valid argument after all the previous things said and the title of the video. The thing i hate most in this world is people putting shit in boxes. Oh he is a blank or that thing is bad, that thing is good. Nothing in this world is black and white, not even laws.to reiterate: people should do as they wish, buidl themselves as they see fit as long as they are being presented all the possibilities. But that is key, someone will enjoy something you hate and who is here to tell you you shouldnt like and do it or that you should(ofc as i said people should be educated with an unbiased view fo the possitives and negatives).

hey bro, thanks for your opinion. I am sorry if this video offended you. I talk out of my experience, I know very well how addicted I was to video games and that the best decision was to quit. There are people who can't just say "okay ima control my video game consumption from now on" because addiction doesn't work like that - you might know that if you have ever been addicted to something. It is also my own opinion that it might be the best to invest time in your own development rather than playing video games all day long - be it socializing or trying to change your lifestyle overall. you also throw different instant gratification terms into one pot- this also doesn't work like that. If you ate good food or did sports, like you said, you might feel instant gratification BUT the difference to playing video games or drinking alcohol is that these activities will result in delayed gratification like a healthy body. it's not that easy as it seems, everything is complicated and correlates with many things. I do appreciate your feedback though :) cheers

My current age is 14, but I stopped playing video games since 13, forever. My addiction started to become a serious problem, as I played non stop for hours and I didnt realize the damage it caused to me. It was absolutely impossible for me to live without them, it was like a drug. I couldnt last longer than an hour without video games, they were my fictional world. This thing turned me into a violent person, a person without any sign of control. One night I suddenly realized this, and stopped it overnight. Now my addiction is gone, however my brother, who is even more obsessed with video games than I was turned into someone who cant think rationally, has mental problems and is aggressive to everyone. I am glad I realized this thing early on. I could have ended like my brother, or even worse. I support you and I admire you for this message. Keep it up!

wow that's a really intense story, but I am glad that you realized this at your age, that's phenomenal! And with your brother: It's very difficult to change other people, because the real change can only come from the inside of someone. All the best for your brother, hoping that he will soon realize his problem as you did. I thank you so much for your comment and support, stay safe!😊

I 100% Agree! I have been playing video games from the young age of 3 all the way till now (I'm 15) but over the few several months I have been playing less and less to point where I only play once a week with friends If I do at all. But this has me questioning should I fully just throw this hobby into the garbage and actually live my life not stuck in the virtual world? But most importantly how would that affect my relationship with my friends and family? I don't know but I guess this is just life...

I totally agree! I grew up around pinball machines and arcade uprights. Owned every console over the years but never got into online gaming. Being consumed with video games leveling up your avatar is the definition of irony if we do in fact live in a simulation. You're waking up, keep up the good work.
