Medium-high tuning just about unbeatable. I have a black 80s RC set and a few years ago when I was doing a recording project, the engineer happened to have a matching black 096 at his studio. Snare wires hanging sideways, beat up heads not tuned. It took like five minutes to tweak it and used it on one of the songs. So good. So much fun to have the matching snare out of nowhere. (My set came with the steel brother the 296 which is also awesome.)

I will bring up tone of 13" just a little bit, to matching better with these floor toms. In this case 13" sounds like 14" floor tom. Fabulous sounding kit anyway.

A 24" kick is definitely the way to go with Classic Maples...unless you get rounded bearing edges.
