Can u make an elaborate video on PARA system in Drive?
Hi. Hopefully will have this out in the next few weeks for you! Thanks for the video idea!
I'm a bit confused about how Keep and Docs work together in the BASB system. Are the Keep notes only meant to be temp notes waiting to be distilled? And how do you organize the Keep notes, since there aren't folders? Is it like a label for "Projects" and another label for the specific project? Thx for your videos 🙏
You're bang on there. I use Keep for shorter notes or notes that i take while I'm out and about or short on time. I then put them into Drive where I distill them properly and then can access them within my PARA system. In terms of organising the notes in Keep, there is a 'label' function which is really useful so I just apply a label to each note which makes it really easy to find! So I have one currently for 'UX Design' which is a module in university I have. Hope that helps a bit. If you need any more info please let me know!
Excellent Jonny, thanks for this video.
Hi Sean, not a problem at all. Thanks very much for the comment too!
@@JonnyBoyd Just started using Google more and I am really enjoying it, I will be using your advice more often.
Glad I could help. If you need any more info or want anything covered in a video gimme a shout!
I don't trust Google to not ditch Keep
Oh 100% although I think having it pre-installed on Android devices might help it stay so fingers crossed nothing happens to it!
why?
@@PedroMadureira25 Google has a notable history of discontinuing products and services, often citing a focus on core offerings or a shift in strategy. Here are some significant examples: Google Reader (2013): A popular RSS feed aggregator, it was shut down due to declining usage and a desire to streamline services. Picasa (2016): Google's photo management and editing tool was phased out in favor of Google Photos, which offered cloud storage and more advanced features. Google Play Music (2020): This music streaming service was replaced by UA-cam Music, consolidating Google’s music offerings. Hangouts (2020): Initially a messaging platform, it was split into multiple services, including Google Chat and Google Meet, as part of a rebranding effort. Google Plus (2019): This social network was closed due to low user engagement and security issues. Inbox by Gmail (2019): An experimental email service that provided a different approach to email management was discontinued as Gmail evolved. Google Allo (2019): A messaging app that offered smart replies and Google Assistant integration was shut down as Google refocused on messaging through existing platforms.
Using Google Takeout you can add Keep data to another notes app
@@user-rr1sp7xm5z Okay
Great video M8, seems much more Second Brain centered, and to me, Keep integrates just as much, if not moreso, with Google Calendar so for ... productivity... meaning: tasks, To Dos, Reminders... makes no sense to not use Keep with Google Calendar as much as with Google Drive. Eager to hear your take on this 🙂
Hi! I completely agree that Keep has really great integration with Google Calendar. I kinda find that Keep isn't great for longer notes and any other types of files such as PDF, spreadsheets etc which is why like to use Drive as well as Keep. Keep is definitely an app that does the job of three or four others tho!
This is spelled very similarly to my current method, you know what I’m referring to boys the millennial created gen-zeday sharpened, and naturally fresh for a 2028 beta heavy rollout… the flatlaid pariah technique.
In case you don’t appreciate perturbing goofy commentary - the info was great and especially my wife who is in the folder-end of our business, will appreciate your pointed direction!!! Thank you, friend. :) it’s spatially organized in here, as you may notice 😝
One minute technique is very powerful and effective love from India
Thanks very much for the comment - I really appreciate it!
I want to restart my second brain system (i used evernote for 3 years but i don't like the move of bendingspoon) what tool do you recomend me for BASB?
Honestly, it depends how complex you want to make it, and how in depth you want to go with it. For example, Obsidian and Roam are great for linking notes together, while other apps like Notion are useful for general note taking and storage. Or you can use the Google apps which are a lot simpler to use but do have some limitations!
Are you Liverpudlian?
Nope! I'm from Northern Ireland although think I have some distant family from around Liverpool!
idk if this was intended JUST to display ‘productivity’ or not, but since the photos are otherwise only of sylvia, i wanna make clear to any viewers that the woman at 0:09-0:10~ is not sylvia. :)
Yeah the still/thumbnail of this video is the same photo, which as stated is NOT of Sylvia. 😕
Really enjoyed the video, thanks

Great work and advice, simple and useful! Keep going! Great content!
Thanks for the comment Esteban - I really appreciate it!
Recently, Google Podcast was abandoned. Is it possible in the future to abandon Google Keep as well?
Good question, they abandoned it to integrate podcasts inside UA-cam.. Although it’s possible, it may not be soon as Keep is their only note taking app..
I agree with this. I can't see them abandoning Google Keep any time soon. Otherwise the only other real 'note taking' app they provide is Google Docs which isn't really suitable for quicker, smaller notes!
but how to link similar topics in google docs and google drive , for example if i type on topic in programming is match with another topic in another programming topic how to creating link with us ? ( something like obsidian internal links but more simpler )
I'll admit this is one of the weaker aspects of using Google apps. However, Google Keep does allow you to apply tags to your notes which can do a similar job. Although Google Docs is kinda limited with that!
Apple Notes & iCloud Drive!
It's an option. But for people invested $ in the Google Ecosystem, makes no sense. Or if you use Windows... also comes down to aesthetics and preference, some prefer Keep and hate Apple Notes, vice versa.
Great summary!
Thanks very much for the comment - I really appreciate it!
Really nice summary.

Hey Johnny, I'm finding your videos really useful and approachable. Thank you.
Hi Damien. Glad you are finding the videos useful! Thanks for the comment - I really appreciate it!
I never really comment, but I decided to share a comment anyways. I'm neurodivergent, so most advice that neurotypicals use don't really work for me. 100% agree. Thanks for the comment - I really appreciate it!
I got to say I really enjoy your PARA content and I think you of all the UA-cam vidoes, blogs etc. you provide the best hands on content to how to actually implement it. For example the moment I saw your colour co-ordinated your Google Drive Folders I instantly realised that is such better way of organising it. Even better it's coming from a fellow Irishman. Keep up the good work!
Thanks so much for the comment - I really appreciate it! 👍🏽 If you need anything covered inn my future videos, just let me know!!
This works wonders-if you don't mind several third party advertisers actively harvesting and analysing your information. Due to Google's horrendous privacy policies and aggressive data collection practices you'll be compromising pretty much every single aspect of your Second Brain by doing this. I would personally recommend using open source or end-to-end encrypted alternatives in the case that you don't want external entities to read your documents. Good video anyways.
Thank you for the video! You saved me from entering the world of Evernote, which has an unfavorable reputation, by relying on the Google ecosystem that I am accustomed to. However, I am still confused and skeptical about the ease or smoothness of relying on Google Docs as an option for storing hundreds of notes that are still in Google Keep, which I want to move, sort, and organize according to the PARA system. The issue is that Google Docs is somewhat slow in loading pages and lacks speed and practicality. It feels like you are entering a massive application that takes time to load with every note you open. What do you think about this matter and how can this problem be dealt with? I feel it is suitable for long writings but not for all types of notes. Could you share your thoughts?
Where would you place goals in a PARA system? Does Tiago suggest where to put goals? Thanks for any insights, as this is a dimension that appears to be missing from this method.
Personally, I would just have a separate note/document/thread within my projects folder called 'Goals'. My thinking behind this is that your projects are things that you are actively working on therefore, this is likely the folder you are most likely to go into and having your goals there can help you align them with your projects. If you are using a quick notes app like Google Keep or Apple Notes or ToDoist, you can just create a separate note called 'Goals' and have it floating without being organised. Personally, I want quick access to my goals so having them free from organisation helps me. Hopefully that is somewhat useful to you!
@@JonnyBoyd Yes, I too would like to have quick access to my goals. That is a very useful idea how to incorporate into the PARA system. Thanks Jonny!
Great video on productivity software! Just wanted to mention Immersive Translate. It’s excellent for translating foreign productivity resources.
I can imagine that is a really useful piece of software! Thanks for the comment - I really appreciate it!
i dont make my bed because i rest a lot throughout the day. My morning routine is full of wins though. I always weigh myself, clean the litterbox, shower, do skin care, do dishes, and take out the trash. I cant imagine not doing those tasks first thing in the morning. I love my routine. I also love the daily goal setting tip! I'd be lost without planning and goal setting.
As long as there's a routine that works for you that's all that matters! Thanks very much for the comment - I really appreciate it!
Great video Jonny. Good luck with the coding, what made you give up teaching?
Just the opportunities here in Northern Ireland really. Most people have to do 5-6 years of subbing before getting a chance at a permanent job which is a long time to go without a solid, consistent income stream. Just felt it was the right decision to change course and go for something else I am interested in with better prospects. Plus I will always have my teaching qualifications if I need them in the future. Thanks very much for the comment - I really appreciate it!
@@JonnyBoyd I would add a 7th habit. Spent my youth programming, shows my age no coders then 😆, and then many years in an office. 7th Habit. Move during the day. Sitting behind a desk is terrible for you and I have spent many days not moving. I try to get up every hour and have a little walk. At the ripe old age of 65 I have got into wearing a step counter and it has been a great incentive to get up and move. I also try to put an hour a day aside to learn a new skill and stick at it for a month. Been tempted to start a UA-cam channel but do not have the confidence to do so.
There are so many more habits that I could have included and your suggestion is one of them! Honestly, everyone should start a channel. When I started mine, I definitely wasn't the most confident person but the more videos I have made, the more confident I have become in myself which is one of the hidden blessings of UA-cam. If you need any advice or anything for your channel let me know!

She was also Bipolar1, as am I. Pure mania is one hell of a drug. In my own mania, I often exhibit hyperlexia and feel utterly compelled to WRITE. Most of its shit but my mania often accompanies mild psychosis. Poor Sylvia flew too close to the sun, spurred on by the atrocious men in her life. I wish we had the technology to speak to the dead - she'd surely have a lot of wisdom for us all.
While l wash the dishes each morning, l'm going to boil the kettle and fill my favourite red thermos with hot tea ready for when l'm working on the computer.
