This is better than a checking account--MUST WATCH
If you’re looking for a way to simplify your finances, earn you more interest on your cash than the traditional checking account, and have your spending, savings, and investments all in one place-a cash management account might be what you’re looking for. If you’ve never heard of a cash management account before, you’re not alone. The vast majority of Americans use a checking account that pays 0% or close to that to receive direct deposits, pay bills, write checks, etc. But I’m all about making my money work harder than I do. So in the course of researching the best checking account for my own personal money management, which also offers a good interest rate, I came across this type of account. So if this sounds like something you might be interested in opening for yourself or a family member, watch through this entire video because I am going to explain what a cash management account is, why it’s better than a traditional checking account, where I ended up opening my account, and I’ll guide you step-by-step on how you can open one, too, if you’re interested. Trust me, it’ll be worth the hassle to move your direct deposits from your old checking account and re-set up your bill pay in a cash management account. Banks know that customers don’t want to deal with the inconvenience of moving accounts once it’s established, which is why they have very little incentive to give you a higher interest rate on your checking account.
So what is a cash management account?
A cash management account is like a Swiss Army knife for your finances. Think of it as a blend of a checking account’s accessibility, a savings account’s interest potential, and an investment account’s ability to trade and hold securities like stocks and bonds. Unlike a regular checking account offered by traditional banks or credit unions, cash management accounts are offered by brokerage firms. These types of accounts are meant to complement your brokerage account, but you don’t need to have a brokerage account or invest with a brokerage firm to open one. Brokerage firms offer them to make it easier for you to invest, like not having to wait for funds to settle if you’re transferring it from a regular checking account to a brokerage account to buy stocks or index funds. Sometimes the brokerage firm will set up a bank to offer this type of account, like how Schwab does it for their checking account, but more commonly, brokerage firms will partner with a bank to offer the features that you normally get from a checking or savings account. This actually comes at a cost to them, but they do it with the objective of one day winning you over as a client for their brokerage services, which they make a ton of money on. Depending on the brokerage firm, they may offer all the features that you are normally accustomed to getting from your checking account or just a few of those features. A good cash management account offers FDIC insurance, a high annual percentage yield (APY) that is easy to earn, direct deposit, no monthly fees, no overdraft fees, free debit card, no ATM fees, no minimum deposit requirements, no minimum balance requirements, a large ATM network size, check-writing capability, mobile check deposits, and mobile and online access.

Our son is now 2.5 and I want to take him for adventures. I just noticed maybe the same place in Mississippi. I'm hoping we can sell our van and not pay too much more to get into a Solis. We are in the west coast so we don’t really have a need for AC (if we lived in a place like Florida, we would have gotten it with the rear AC). We do bring a portable fan to keep us cool when it gets a little warmer. The van has a heater that runs on propane. It’s very efficient to keep the entire van warm.

Great review and additional insight! I’ll be price negotiating for sure! My only issue with the pop top is that it will only be useable if the weather is good and the temperature is just right. Otherwise, I think it would be uncomfortable for anyone utilizing that space and you certainly don’t want the rain causing damage. I can also see the pop top interfering with the overall temperature inside the RV. I also didn’t know that you could request not to have an AC. Correct me if I’m wrong but you don’t necessarily have to be connected to shorepower to run the AC. I just can’t imagine being without it especially if you’re traveling to warmer climates. I don’t know how you manage without the AC. l can’t remember how the back bed situation is but I also didn’t know that you could opt for a sofa/futon. Regarding the additional sleeping space in the front cabin, I believe that Winnebago gave an inflatable mattress for the front cabin that looks more comfortable than the one you demonstrated.
