    What wood finish did you use for this table?

    Is it OK to use a 47" bracket for shelves that are 7' long, as long as it is centered in the shelf?

      I always use the maximum length bracket I can for the length of the shelves I’m making. I could imagine it being fine though. But I’d definitely just check with Sheppard brackets to see what they say. I believe they have weight ratings on there website.

    We have a cubbyhole in our family room, I did some shelves years ago with cleats. We want something nicer, I went with the same brackets. I took a scrape 2x4 and practiced doing the , pilot holes and router, before I tried on an expensive piece of wood. I found really easy to do, also mounting on the wall and sliding the boards on was not too difficult. I do need to mention the walls pitch inward on the front the back is about 1/4 inch wider. Waiting for my Rubio’s to finish and call it done.

      I agree, it has been the easiest process for me. I’ve made my own in similar style to the Sheppard brackets, as well as even a wood dowel style one. I’ve also tried the hovr brand style but couldn’t use them because your shelf has to be no less than 2” thick. These are by far the best quality and easiest brackets by far out of everything I’ve used.

    It's what I used to float my mantel above the fireplace! If you have a mill or a metal bit you could recess the tulip screw hole that allows the router to go over the screws to make the cabinet screw recess into the metal so you can run the router over the entire space w/o risking it jumping.

      Yeah that would be the one thing that could make the router guide much better, I may have to look into bringing my guides to a machinist

    Great video, thanks! Would you use cabinet screws to attach the bracket to the wall? The ability to make small adjustments moving the bracket using cabinet screws seems like it would be super helpful. The extra clamping force that the cabinet screw heads seem like they'd be a good choice too to really "hang on" to the bracket holes. What do you think?

    • @LuckyNelsonsSawmill
      @LuckyNelsonsSawmill 6 місяців тому

      I know I love the cabinet screws for being able to make fine adjustments that may be something I should try next time I do some floating shelves

    Do you put epoxy or glue in the holes or is friction enough to hold it?

    • @LuckyNelsonsSawmill
      @LuckyNelsonsSawmill Рік тому

      No epoxy. Friction usually holds it plenty. If needed I might do a couple wraps of painters tape on the rods.

      I did once but I don’t think it makes a different. The debarker on this mill is not the best design in my opinion. The lt40 super and bigger mills have a different design that looks much better.
