Leading from the front to inspire a change for good in our community shared outdoor spaces. Preserving the natural state of those places and sharing the beauty that is our amazing world. That is what my passion is. I am also a custom rod builder with 5+ years of experience designing and building custom fishing rods. From fly fishing to conventional rods. Fourth Gen Toyota 4Runner Rear Hatch Light Installation
I apologize for the length of this video. Unfortunately, when Toyota designed the 4th gen 4Runner they did away with the convenient bladed electrical terminals that came on the third generation 4Runner's dome lamps. So without a more detailed instructional I was worried some of you would get lost if I just left it at "plug into the dome lamp circuit."
Depending on the strength of the adhesive that comes with the LEDs you select, the clear plastic clamps may not be needed.
The hole for the switch is easy to cut, I covered the top of my rear plastic cover with a piece of blue painters tape, placed my switch on it's side and marked the length of the switch with a pen, then marked the width. I drilled out the corners of the hole with a 1/16th bit and then cut the sides with a dremel. Removing any excess material with a razor blade style skill knife and side cutters. Alternatively you can install your lights and see if they come on when you open your vehicle, which is why I installed the switch (every time I unlocked and opened my 4Runner they would come on), if they don't and they only come on when you need them then don't install the switch.
This is a handy little mod and easy to install. I hope you enjoy it and find is as useful as I have.

OPT7 Sequential Running Board light install on a 4th generation Toyota 4Runner
Переглядів 7908 місяців тому
This is the best method to install the OPT7 Sequential Running Board lights on a 4th generation (2008) Toyota 4Runner. Step 1: Remove your factory running boards, clean out the lip on the top side of the plastic part of the running board, clean the plastic with denatured alcohol or acetone, apply the provided adhesive booster and then the OPT7 lights. Reinstall the running boards. Step 2: Remov...
Virginia DEQ has declared this "Not a serious dump site"
Переглядів 2353 роки тому
In this short video I recorded a 300 yard long section of this stream bed, bank and ravine. This is a site that I reported to the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality as a hazardous dump site for private individuals and tires. The DEQ "found" fewer than 25 tires so they have declared it not an issue. You be the judge. Regardless of what the DEQ has decided I will now be cleaning up this...

Illegal Tire Dump part 3
Переглядів 674 роки тому
This is the final video in this series for this location. In total over 70 tires were removed from this ravine, unfortunately I had to leave some that are just to far down the mountain to retrieve with the equipment I currently have. My hope is that I will be able to purchase longer ropes and maybe a winch with a long cable at some point. Until then I will leave those remaining tires and contin...
Illegal Tire Dump Pt. 2
Переглядів 2624 роки тому
Recently I stumbled across this illegal tire dump just off of Route 33 on the Switzer Lake access road. I hate seeing this kind of disrespect and disregard for our public shared spaces and environment. So I took it as a challenge. What follows is part one of two, my efforts to clean up this travesty and return this beautiful mountain side to it's proper state. Thanks for Watching!! It would gre...
Snow Melt Brown Trout
Переглядів 8264 роки тому
Recently the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries stocked some streams in Western VA. So on the day of New Years Eve I decided to go see if I could tangle with any of the trout they had released. The water temps were in the low 40s to upper 30s due to snow melt which made the fishing very slow. I ended up sight fishing almost all the fish I caught, you literally had to hit them in t...

Switzer Dam Trash Clean Up

This has been something I have thought about doing for quite some time. For the longest time I didn't want to do it because I felt it was selfish of me to want to put myself out there in this manner. But now I realize how badly this is needed. We need to see this, we need to be aware of what is happening in our shared National Forest spaces. We need to see these mistakes so we can grow and chan...

Shaping cork on my Shop Fox W1836 Midi lathe
This is what I want to do with mine. Not sure which wire to tap into 🤔
For the running boards: ua-cam.com/video/1Fef1_f4mHU/v-deo.htmlfeature=shared I haven't yet gotten a video done for the white step lights.
@OG-Paul-Valentine did you just tap into the dome lights for the white steplights?
@ptsalons5846 I ran a separate circuit from the battery to a relay that is tucked behind the front passenger side kick panel. The relay is actuated by the door ajar switches, which act as the ground for the entire set of lights.
I have a 2006 tundra I want to install these lights on. Im assuming that it’s a similar process to this year model 4Runner since they are around the same production year
@@colemayers6709 most likely it would be a similar process. I'll be doing an in depth video for performing this modification soon. Been busy with summer stuff and family vacations. I'll try to get it done and uploaded this week.
Thanks a lot ! Really appreciate your support and expertise.
What did you have to do ?
Nice, used it a lot, best for reducing fly rod length to suit your needs. Only video I've seen !
Thanks! It's been a hot minute since I put this video up. Your comment made me.think it may be due for an update.
you are doing a great thing!!! keep it up!
Hey, buddy that is just amazing of you to do that on your own terms. It's sad that people don't want to clean up after themselves. Anyways I been watching your videos while doing school work and it's a great relaxing thing to watch as well as the view your showing. You should input some background music to soften up the silence and may I just say you should use your drone for the epic views of the place your at. more likes!
Hopefully I'll be able to give the drone a go next time I'm out. Thanks for the ideas!!!
I see your video skills are as good as your rod building skills. Serviceable but not as good as you think they are.
🤣😂😂🤣🤣 you are 110% correct. That's why I keep building and learning with every build. You only get better with practice, patience, and criticism. As for my recording skills, this was shot and edited on a cell phone, and not a very good one. Despite that my video creating skills are far worse than my rod building skills but with practice, effort and humility I may get better.
Really cool wrap, but wish you explained a bit on how you did it.
Most people aren't very interested in set up and execution, but I can always do another video with a bit more explanation and instruction.
@@OG-Paul-Valentine I'll sub your channel and keep an eye out for that if you do decide to make it. I'm in the process of building my first rod wrapper with some old sewing machine motor I found, and I can say there is only a handful of channels that talk about rod building. In particular I really can't find much about building fly rods even though it's all pretty similar it seems.
@@gregoryolenovich6440 fly rods are about all I do. Probably 98%. I've been wanting to do some more vids but my camera isn't working anymore and a new one hasn't been in the cards. If you want a really in depth dive into rod building, more traditional in style, go check out the I Am Snowman channel.
@@gregoryolenovich6440 search iamsnowman if you use any spaces the channel won't show up. Zeb is an incredibly precise builder.
@@OG-Paul-Valentine excellent, thanks for the tip, I will search him now!
I used to find stuff like that all the time I'd haul the junk for scrap and then a free load to.the dump
Yeah I need a better place to store the scrap. Right now with the way I had it set up my back yard just looked like a pile of junk.
Hey poster, thank you for bringing this to out attention. The DEQ are usually no help when you need them. Stay well and thank you!
Yeah, other than helping to inform me of the laws and regulations pertaining to tires in the state the DEQ hasn't really been much help.
@@OG-Paul-Valentine Throw two bags of concrete near that water source, wait a few weeks then send them some pictures. They'll clean that site up quick as a flash!
@@FSAUDIOGUY seriously?
@@OG-Paul-Valentine Yeah, they are top cops when it comes to concrete near a water source. Be careful. You might also try reporting the deer carcasses to a game warden or inland fisheries. This looks like a poachers favorite spot. Probably the same person dumping everything at the site. This stuff boils my blood!
@@FSAUDIOGUY yeah, mine too. Hadn't thought about reporting it to VDGIF. I'll give them a call tomorrow. But I'll leave the concrete suggestion alone. I don't want to be known for contributing, even in such a small way as that, to an ever growing issue. My goal is to help educate and encourage change.
What kind of lathe chuck are you using?
The chuck i am using is a PSI Woodworking CMG3C chuck. I ordered it off of Amazon. (This is an unaffiliated link) www.amazon.com/dp/B0006OC3B4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fabc_Q45ZXXBAZP6QT71KNVB8?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
@@OG-Paul-Valentine thank you for the reply. I love how you have your dust extractor set up.
@@mosfet51 thanks!! It's super handy for sure. That piece of kit comes from Rockler.
@@OG-Paul-Valentine does it allow for wood to go thru the chuck like a metal lathe? I make handles and need to drill a hole in one end.
@@mosfet51 yup, the lathe/chuck head is hollow and depending on the size of wood you are drilling allows for up to a 3/4" drill bit to pass beyond the end of the chuck jaws.
Nice fish, came from a comment on blacktiphs channel to see how well u treat fish lol.
How'd i do?
@@OG-Paul-Valentine pretty good Haha, but I definitely know it's a lot tougher then it looks to handle big fish.
@@rockymountaintrout2689 none of us are perfect. That's something i have to remind myself of pretty often. That and to just stay humble. Can't say that series of comments was my finest moment. Thanks for coming over and checking out my "channel"!!
Were you at doing all this ?
This was filmed in Rockingham County Virginia. Specifically just off of Route 33 on the Switzer Lake Road headed back into the George Washington National Forest.
Love the setup that you made for getting the tires to the trailer. Love even more that you're helping clean our world. Was a bit surprised that you can count so well. I went out and picked up three full bags of trash along the river yesterday in honor of my neighbor Bob Duncan that passed away at noon from Covid. He owned a piece of property on the river and it only seemed fitting. I'd love to meet up, clean up, and maybe go wet a line sometime.
Thanks Mike! Sorry to hear about your friend. I had a friend commit suicide recently so I feel your pain. I'd love to meet up some time!!
thanks for this video. I'm loving the everything about it
Thanks @beefmelt!! Glad you enjoyed the show!!
Awesome video! Thank you for keeping your place clean. Even if it’s not your trash. Means a lot. I subscribed to your channel. Check mine out and if you like it please do the same. Thanks again.
Thanks man!! Much appreciated. I'll check yours out and give it a subscribe. Happy New Year!!
Amazing how much trash is out there. I grouse hunt out there and get extremely remote and still find stuff.
It is amazing and saddening. Some of it is impossible to get to without clearing brush out of the way. It seem like no matter how much time I spend cleaning there is always more.
I'm considering getting one soon. Would you recommend this model?
Absolutely!! Make sure you get a number two morse taper lathe and not a number one morse taper. You'll have a greater flexibility and easier time finding attachments.
Thank you... is that a rockler dust collection for a lathe I see?
