    Very interesting. Is there a reason for the different colours of valves? Imwhat is the reason for the two pieces of valve material? Is the valve wax just beeswax? Told you there would be loads of questions.

    • @richedwards9646
      @richedwards9646 22 дні тому

      Hi Anthony Good questions The valves are different colours because they are different sizes and the different sizes often come in different colours The second and third layers help to keep the valve lying flat. The wax is a mix of beeswax and rosin .

    Hey there Rich, I think that's three sets of middle Reed playing as opposed to two. I can tell by the sound of the Tremolo

  • @oldbrokensqueezebox
    @oldbrokensqueezebox Місяць тому

    I've gotten the hang of tuning but I'm having trouble with tuning the second voice reeds to get the right tremolo effect. Do you start by tuning both reeds to concert pitch then tune the tremolo reed up little by little checking until it sounds right? Should both reeds together register on a tuner perfect on the note or will it be slightly offset because of the tremolo?

    • @richedwards9646
      @richedwards9646 Місяць тому

      Hello Good question ! What I do is work out which set of reeds is tuned to the pitch of the accordion. Eg A440( this can be tricky as some accordions are tuned to various standards eg AA42 , 438 etc - if I'm not sure I use the bass reeds as a reference as they will all be tuned to the pitch of the accordion I will then tune these reeds to their pitch eg AA440 Then I will play these reeds and the tremolo set of reeds together and measure the difference in pitch between 2 reeds using my Dirks tuner app. Sometimes the tremolo set of reeds is tuned BELOW the tuning of the reeds tuned to pitch which means if you flatten a tremolo reed you will get more tremolo !!- most of the time the tremolo reeds are tuned slightly above the reeds tuned to pitch . I hope this helps Good luck! 😊

    Hi! Are you mixing soap with the water in the ultrasonic cleaner for better cleaning, or is it to make it an alkaline solution to prevent rust ? Have you had any issue getting reeds in water that way, or is it really safe with soap and proper drying?

    Hello Sir - Nice video. However, one observation I have made ie when you are taking out reed boards for cleaning up slides, the accordion body is not correctly placed - the piano key board must never be kept facing the surface downward - this can sometimes cause serious damage /breakage to the piano keys. Piano keys must always face upwards (Like a normal piano). Luckily , you have a carpet cushioning on the table which have provided protection to the keys - but damage cannot be ruled out if any loose thread (?) in the carpet gets entangled in the piano keys. Your lubrication of metallic parts is OK considering that the '' greenish '' chemical on these parts gets easily rusted. Most HOHNER accordions do have this nagging problem and I do not know why they have never bothered about it. Also unlike Italian accordions, Bellow metal 'Corners' of most HOHNER accordions get easily rusted with this "greenish" substance on the corners despite care - even in their high ended professional models like Atlantic and Morino. Incidentally, May I request you to let me name of the " Lubricant" you are using ? Warm Regards.
