The Red Wing guy you’re thinking of is Sergei! He used to do side jobs for B&R Sports at Troy and did some amazing work on my skates and pants. He was an artist at customizing/fixing equipment. RIP Sergei Tchekmarev
Awesome I love seeing what other guys wear… Your Reebok shoulder pads and CCM elbows are my favourites in your bag. I’m a Bauer and an old JOFA guy among my gear. It’s all priceless to me, heaven forbid I ever lose my gear 🫣
Your goddamn right I have notifications turned on for this post look forward to this shit all week, brotha Surprised that no other ex NHL player really has talked about any of this really interesting stuff Lamborghini Perlini.
Awesome video man, really liked the stories you shared with each and every piece of gear. The editing with the pictures were great too. Have a great weekend!
love the video bubz keep it up love getting to see the behind the scenes of what you as a player personally use every time you stop on the ice it gives a good insight into how you play the game
I played in a pro am tournament with a few ex nhl guys it was crazy seeing their older gear too. I thought they’d have state of the art the newest stuff. Not really, lots of sentimental pieces of equipment. It was really cool to see and ask them stuff about their gear.
You and Tevor Bauer are the only two channels I have notifications on for. This kind of inside stuff is fascinating have you ever tried breaking down games or showing that process or is that for more coach minded guys? Actually thats a fascinating video maybe those guys you played with that you could tell or thought would make great coaches, GMs etc. Also as a fan it kind of seems like some guys just have more natural skill, while other guys seem to have to work for it more even if they are otherwise realitively comparable players and is that a real thing or just what it looks like from the outisde.
How about a training camp video? A video that explains when players arrive for camp? How long before camp do guys show up? How about rookies? Where do guys live during camp? Are camps separate to yes by vets that are pretty much on the team in one session and rookies and on PTOs in a different session? What goes on just prior to camp? How about once camp starts? As camp progresses, how do guys get separated into various squads? How about preseason games? How are those viewed by younger guys versus older established guys? Please give us an inside look at how camps are run. What did you like or not like? Funny camp stories or sad stories about guys careers ending even though they thought they still had it? What are coaches like during camp? How about assistant coaches? Trainers? Equipment managers? Thanks for your videos, always been a hockey guy and even played against Pat Verbeek and Chris Pronger when they were in Hartford. Was a dream come true.
Love the channel man, but are we not gonna talk about those sandals? Those are some serious Air Jerusalem's your rocking lol......keep up the good work!!
I love the channel and this type of content, There's an ex MLB player Matt Antonelli who does very similar stories and stuff and I was actively hoping a Hockey player would do something similar, so hope you keep it up
Do you have back up gear? I’m friends with a former equipment guy and that team had 2 full sets of gear for each guy. Do you use multiple pairs of gloves or different helmets during games? I see guys switching out gloves during the game. How long do your blades last? How long will 100 sets last?
100 sets mannnn should last a long time. I only wear them for games and I rotate between steels also not getting them sharpened very much if I like the grind.. Yes if NHL teams have practice arenas then a lot of teams will leave a set of gear at the practice rink and use the good gear for games
Hey Brendan I spray paint my sticks. Did you ever do that and how common was it in the locker room and what about tinted visors in general and also what about rolled up sleeves like how Ovi used to do it back in the day and now players like Kane and Svechnikov
also - is there a way to safely do a video on team initiations or “hazing” in today’s climate?! lol! I know you’ve mentioned some things about putting money down on the board, etc., but maybe there’s some things you can share! I played Junior here in an Alberta, Canada! was 15-16 when they started removing head hits and putting stop signs on jersey’s! at that time, we did some pretty gnarly things 😂
Perls keep us posted on whats going on with you for the 24-25 season man. If you come down to Hartford again my buddy is the equipment manager down there so i'll stop in and see you play. Best wishes bro ✌✌
Hey Perls, i never played hockey as a kid, but my 3 year old is obsessed with it and will probably go in when he’s old enough. Do you have any tips for the young kids and the first time hockey parents out there? I want to set up my kid for success in being the best he can, but don’t want to be one of those hockey parents that takes the fun out of the game for their kids.
Yeah man good question.. Honestly dude just let it happen, like give him the opportunity to play and have fun. Im telling u man everyone wants to get to the NHL and see there kid get there... but dude its not even about that and trust me like I played 6 years NHL and the most fun times are when ur a kid!! So just let it happen.. never force him. If he wants to play he will play and if he doesn't there's so many cool professions out there in the world which is 100% totally cool
just to piggyback on what the trainers were saying, those fusion blades were pretty bad. they did try to replicate them with the carbonlite blades. they were a little bit better then the fusion but still have a chance to break easily, but super light, my brother has the same exact setup on his true skates and loves the carbonlites. so if you can't get anymore fusion blades try the carbonlites!
Guy. I split my elbow twice because my elbow pad slid up and got knocked down on the ice and smashed it on the ice. Surgery coming. Dr. didn't know how my arms stayed together
Can we have a stick collection?
I’ll get that forsure!

Yep! gotcha covered!! when training camp comes ill release!
Where do you play now?
Fantastic video! I was wondering if you used oversized holders on your skates? Do you know why some players do so? Thanks!
no I didn't like them... just a feel thing really lil more blade
Love the channel man, but are we not gonna talk about those sandals? Those are some serious Air Jerusalem's your rocking lol......keep up the good work!!
YESSSIR finally someone noticed them!! The Air Jesus
Left work early for this🔥
HAHAHAH Man that's awesome.. made my day
Flat bottom v sharpening. That steel he is using holds an edge very well

Sweet!! Glad your enjoying it
I'm curious about the elbow pad. How do you make it like that?? Then the addition?
Trainer would sew it on

Can you make a video about how you tape your stick!! Love the content! Thank you Brendan!
I'll do a stick episode!
@@Bubzp11 Yes please. If I can add: I'd be curious to know how many sticks NHL players get/use per year, etc.
Pretty cool vid, I’ve never had lace bite before and I like to tie as tight as possible. Do they have studies on why or why not that even happens
I have no clue but its def a pain in the backside forsake
Lace bite is due to a worn or thin tongue especially if you use wax laces
Hey Brendan I spray paint my sticks. Did you ever do that and how common was it in the locker room and what about tinted visors in general and also what about rolled up sleeves like how Ovi used to do it back in the day and now players like Kane and Svechnikov
yep I sprayed my sticks for long time!

how come we never see you on the GB squad???
talk more about Ambri and Switzerland in general
nhl 16 legend, trading for him and domi was an easy 2 cups
ever dabbled with other pro curves from players in the league or teammates?
Yep ill have a full stick video coming out soon
I'm with Kane. I hate my elbow pads sliding down my arm. Still can't find a solution. But I like his solution.
hahahah crazy eh
Letssss gooo
Can we have a stick collection
Forsure
A video you can smell.
What’s the injection for lace bite
Thanks
Oh man I don't even remember
crazy that a pro uses this old of gear
Yep! I feel like mine is pretty new compared to other guys too😂
I had no clue they put chips on the players to see how fast they’re going, I always thought they figured out from the camera or something!!
@@MrJal67can confirm
Yep!! there's a couple different ones too.. sometimes the team needs the data and sometimes there's chips in our jerseys that do same thing
Signed stick will be great for my golf room
For when i win the giveaway: Signed would be preferable! Great content!
Tight gitch = compression (name)
Let’s get to 20k!
Yes please!
Can we get top fav nhl teammates?
Guy. I split my elbow twice because my elbow pad slid up and got knocked down on the ice and smashed it on the ice. Surgery coming. Dr. didn't know how my arms stayed together
Are your elbow pads from the 1950s?
Which one do I answer
@robgranberg7854 never had an elbow pad slide up in my life
Always amazes me when I see NHL guys still wearing gear that's been beat to hell. Like that stuff can't be all that protective any more, can it?
Just comfy 😆
I can smell this video
My sons would like to see if you can explain stick flex for them . I’ve kinda explained , but let’s be honest I’m just a dad not a pro !!👊🏼🏒🎸
to be honest there's prob better videos online then me explaining 😂
